Unless of course it was needed aside from this particular issue then i couldn’t fault them if it was in bad shape and she wanted it done. None of us know for sure aside from her and the roofing company. Still a terrible situation. 60k is life changing for most folks

I immediately jumped to the idea to smoke out to find access points I haven't found yet. Your video was really informative for the situation you were addressing. And totally usable in my situation. I can smell the excrement outside. I've always had a good nose and I've used it well in mitigation as well as dealing with rodent infestations.
You didn't see any smoke coming out of that access panel? The smoke should have been pouring out of that pipe like a chimney if it was open to the sewer. That line should be protected by a p-trap under the slab. Also, I didn't see any rub marks or much in the way of droppings. I would expect a lot more evidence if that was the primary entry from the sewer. Also, why put a jim cap on that pipe? Rats can chew through rubber in no time. Glue on an adapter and put a plug in it.
I have been inspired by you guys! I have a rat infestation in the crawlspace and I took out the insulation, set out poison, and went under today and pulled out over two dozen dead rats! Yuck! But you guys gave me confidence. And now.... I have big huge black snakes! I think they ate dinner at my home over and over. Thanks again. You guys are great!
Since the Pacific atmospheric rivers have been coming in one after another in SoCal, the mice activity has been crazy. I'm here to get some ideas. Great video
should have glued(cemented/welded) on an abs to fip adapter and used a brass or iron threaded cap instead. most rodents can chew up rubber caps easily and some chew the plastic(pvc/abs) caps through due to raised square wrench area. I've dealt with some crazy rodents over the years 😖

I got a question. I'm in a similar situation where I think I found the entry. Sealed it. Amongst other interior entry points. Still heard activity on the night of the sealing. No more noises anymore. Question though...you did find that pipe open, and I'm just learning because i'm moving into a new house with rats, but I didn't see any rat trails, grease, or whatever in that area that leads up into the attic? I'm sure you found the spot, but if they have been there a while, wouldn't you see more grease like some of your other videos?
Can you guys identify the type of rat infestation from looking at the droppings? I've read that the sewer rats which I think ? are the Norway rats have barrel-shaped droppings with the round blunt ends, and roof rat droppings have the tapered pointed ends. Is this correct?

The kind of roof she has is expensive. They had to take it all down piece by piece and then replace the sheathing and insulation. It is a big job but idk if 64k would be too much. I was a roofer for 7 years. That material they used on the roof is definitely pricey I know.

I've interviewed 6 exterminator companies and nobody understands where they are coming from and all they do is put up traps that do nothing.
