Thank God we have smoke spray so we can see if the smoke alarm sensor works otherwise if there was a fire in your basement the detector would not sound the alarm
We have one of those loud smoke alarms in our condo. One summer evening, it went off for no reason, well, humidity set it off. And it, like you, scared me out of a dead sleep. What kind of smoke alarm would make that noise? Which brand and model like the one you tested in the kitchen?
@@FireAlarm-ni8lf So our condo was built in '78, and I believe back then you only needed a smoke detector. So I'm sure that alarm is indeed from the 80's. We ended up disconnecting that one, and installing some battery operated alarms. Funny, it's still on the celling in the hallway.
That doesn’t surprise me that the FireX in the basement doesn’t work. Looks like you might need to replace that with a new one. I would do a battery operated down there since according to another collector modern hardwired smoke alarms can’t interconnect with your FX-W1A’s. If you were to try to they would probably go off.
Kidder bought fires so you might want to buy kidde KN COSM IBA if you can find them somewhere because I'm not sure if they discontinued it but if any alarm is past 10 years I would replace if with that model
