I seem to recall that Heston approached a cage of the SNL cast and Chris Farley was acting dumb. When Heston stated that they had cut out his brain, another cast member said that that's just the way Chris was.
Mr. Heston gave the Planet of the Apes franchise so much life, it's now well into its second half of a century... and profitably so, while continuing to stimulate thought & discussion all over the world (and someday beyond). :-)

Don't know if they were made from original molds, but they were sweet. Wish they were still available. If SNL can make something even close from scratch, they have a very good makeup department.

I remember watching this live when it first came out, I had to Google it and find it on line to watch the whole episode. There is a skit about white people dancing to gangsta rap, David Spade making fun of models that look like Men and Heston doing a NRA ad for gun store renting guns.. could you imagine that skit in 2023?
Heston was fine. He played the straight man here reacting off of the crowd. The "madhouse" line did fall a little flat, but I'm not sure that' was his fault.
