I managed a limousine company in Chicago back in the day and Charlton and his family were clients of ours and used to drive him between his home in Evanston and O'Hare airport and I can say wholeheartedly this was one of the purest, good human beings I ever met. An absolutely gracious person.

No one is trying to take away guns. All civilized countries have gun regulations and people still own guns.
Heston was one of those who made up a problem and then got mad about it. He was someone who became a Conservative and then decided to immerse himself in that role. He even allowed himself to be photographed with a white supremist. The Liberal Heston would not have stopped so low. But this is the same Charlton Heston who once said that the government should have the right to be draconian when it feels like it.
Most Americans support gun regulation anyway even gun owners.

I met Mr. Heston when he was in his 80’s I was a young police officer when he came to Gwinnett county airport to a NRA meeting supporting a candidate for public office. He stepped out of his vehicle and he was tiny and I must have had a shocked look on my face because he laughed and put his hand on my shoulder and said something like “I know son I used to be a lot taller” and we both laughed and he shook my hand thanked me for my service. He had two former USSS agents both very tall and capable looking. They escorted him inside and stayed with him or very close by. What a kind and gracious man he was.

The young people of the 1960-70s were the ones who degraded our culture to what it is now with pushing no fault divorce, causal sex, pushing to legalize recreational drugs, making holding the mentally ill against their will illegal so they end up on the streets etc.

Mr.Heston comes across as just an average guy. But spiritually and psychologically all humans have oversize egos . . . no exceptions. Ya need to listen to Rupert Spira, Eckhart Tolle, Carl Jung, Alan Watts, and other mind experts to know what the fcuk i'm squawkin' 'bout. Just sayin' . . . take it or leave it. It's too bad Charlton Heston's german shepherds weren't around the day Micheal Moore visited him for a so called interview for Moore's movie Bowling for Columbine. I thought Moore took advantage of Heston's weak condition and was very disrespectful. If only man's best friend had been there that day, that part of the movie would have played out much differently.

Moore thought he could easily goad Heston into an angry tirade as well as somehow assign blame for a child's death to Dick Clark.
Instead the whole thing unraveled and fizzled out to a nothing of an ending.

Yes! The Moore, "interview " was a disgusting thing. But Charlton Heston was the grand man he always was. Annnndd Moore was the same pig he always was.

@@lindafox3619 I'm sure Heston in his prime would have shown Moore the door with his foot planted on Moore's backside.

I didn't normally watch Jay Leno but one night I had it on and he had a segment of Celebrity Twister at Graumann's Chinese Theater. A young couple had to play Twister using the cement blocks in the courtyard of Graumann's. It went like; Put your right hand on Steve McQueen. Left foot on Paul Newman. Right foot on Charlton Heston. As soon as they stepped on the Charlton Heston cement block, the real CH came running out at of the theater yelling at them to get off his footprints. It was hilarious. After all the laughter subsided, he was real nice to the couple, who were so young I'm not sure they knew who he was or if he was serious.

In the late 1960s-early 1970s Heston became a sci fi star. Oddly five of his sci fi films had an apocalyptic theme. (Planet Of The Apes, Beneath The Planet Of The Apes, Tim Burton Planet Of The Apes, The Omega Man, Soylent Green-end of civilization type sci fi films).
