  • 025 We are planting our summer garden. We are using a geofabric to hopefully prevent weeds from taking over the garden beds. Not sure if this technique will work but, we are going to give it a try.
    Thanks again for watching,
    Michael and April
    Description of Us:
We are a couple of American Francophiles who have come to truly appreciate so many things about French culture. We love the food, wine, art, and history of France, but especially the people we have met along the way. Join us as we make our dream of living in France a reality. Follow us as we explore the French living and a new life there with our beloved dog, Bernice. We enjoy learning about stone house renovation, wine, cooking, brocante shopping, and the French community we are now a part of.

I hope your garden flourishes, especially the tomatoes. It is nice that it is enclosed.

Well, if you look at a more recent video you’ll see that it all died from frost. No worries, we replanted. Many of the seed plants did come up though. Thanks for watching😁

Good luck with your veggies, I grew them years ago when I had a big garden, you learn as you go.
I learned about putting up a high enough fence to stop sheep jumping in after they ate my Brussels sprouts..

I don't know how the birds are there but here if I didn't put mesh netting over mine, the birds would get everyone. I look forward to seeing how your garden grows.

You are likely correct. We will need nets as soon as we have fruit... :)

Really admiring your efforts in the garden, maybe at the end of the season you could consider making raised beds from timber, then in your absence use the geo material to suppress the weeds ready for your next growing season.
    😊🍄

We plan to put boarders along the side and raise them...eventually. Definitely will be using the geo-fabric to keeps the weed at bay during the off season. Thanks again to the info... :)

Hi, could make a couple of bays for wood chippings and compost. Have a veg plot myself, and grow a variety. I don't use the weed membrane in the same way. But mainly just cover an area in winter , and take off when the planting season comes around. Veg gardening is a whole subject on its own :) good luck.... i wonder what pests you will get there. Watch for pigeons stripping brassicas, slugs for eating anything. Well too late for advice now, but generally dont plant out if the following night temp is going to be below about 12 deg C.. plants will shock.. different plants vary, brassicas usually more hardy. Squash's need loads of room :)

We've been seeing signs of moles. Likely we'll have voles also. No damage from them yet.

We will likely get a burn barrel or an outdoor fire pit eventually. For now, mulch is needed. So we mulch... :)
