11 Most Pissed Bands Ever | Scowl's Picks
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 чер 2022
- Scowl are one of the most intensely angry bands in modern hardcore. Frontwoman Kat Moss' fierce screams and her bandmates' nasty instrumentation make for a uniquely furious punk-rock blitz, so we had Moss and guitarist Malachi Greene pick who they think are the 11 most pissed-off bands of all time. Their choices ran the gamut from irate OGs like the Melvins and Negative Approach to fuming hardcore units like Ceremony and Gulch.
Watch above and tell us some of your favorite pissed bands in the comments below!

Personally I would have put Eyehategod somewhere on the list. Pure misanthropy
Maybe they're going for underground bands
@@chriskimmel7252 ohhh bro, that was uncalled for! Ouch. Damn!
@@chriskimmel7252 Iron Monkey then
@@chriskimmel7252 But they listen Melvins?
Or grief
Dystopia is the angriest band I’ve ever seen. It was beautiful
Dino for sure! It's crazy cause he literally was that angry in 3rd grade. The only kid I knew that wore crass and fear t-shirts in elementary school.
@@craigsimpson6705i’ve been listening to crass since i was about 11, i’m 16 now, how the fuck has he heard of crass in 3rd grade 🤣🤣
Dystopia for sure. Man Is The Bastard as well.
One of the most pissed off albums I've ever heard is Indian's From All Purity. Incredibly punishing sludge/doom/noise album from start to finish with vocals that are downright vile.
highly underrated!!! great record!!!
Good call. That record makes you genuinely feel uncomfortable. Like that sort of distance you can feel in an artist, where you know it's mainly a place to vent and let it all out isn't really there. It sounds and feels like a kind of seething negativity that never ever stops.
That album literally feels evil. Its awesome, but can be hard to listen to the whole record, and I love death metal and sludge
Easily one of the heaviest records I've ever heard
BASED take
i feel like nails defiantly has to be on this list
In defiance to the list?
@@grdnmellesmoen9845 🤣
In fairness - I’ve messed this one up as well 😑
@@bradrainey9018 we all have Hahaha I'm just goofing
First thing that came in mind when i read the title
Gulch were absolutely incredible and I am gutted they didn't at least do a UK/EU tour before breaking up. Best hardcore band in years imo
wiat? gulch broke up??
@@veil2612 yeah they broke up last summer.
@@thedominator4796 WHAT THE FUCK.
They gotta come back at least once!! I am so upset i found them when it was too late..
Agreed
I know this band is West Coast, and young but To me any list of most pissed bands has to include Sheer Terror and Blood for Blood.
1. Buzzoven
2. Eyehategod
3. Abnegation (Erie, PA)
4. Orchid (MS)
5. Noothgrush
6. Cattlepress
7. Negative Approach
8. Slapshot
9. SS Decontrol
10. Cavity
Honobrable mention:
Dystopia
Siege
16
Black Flag
Heavy Metal Patriot
BUZZOVEN. Yes!
@@gregviar6032 damn good list, its funny that stoner/sludge metal like Buzzover, 16 & Eyehategod could be so pissed considering how much weed they smoke
Noothgrush, niiice
@@jboogedy & shooting up candy does not help either
Nice call on Cattlepress.
Seeing Blood for Blood live was the most angry band I have seen.
I wish Rob had replaced Buddha with another singer. I know Rob wrote all the songs but they don't have the same bite with him doing all the vocals.
I remember seeing them around 2002, seeing them play "So Common, So Cheap" still stands out to me. Fucking your pussy was like fucking the wound from a shotgun blast... With gangrene!
Rumor has it Rob is working on B4B stuff for 2022. Don’t know if Buddha is involved though
@@timh1237 I doubt Buddha is involved. He got in trouble for forcing himself on an underage girl. Rob was very vocal about him being out of the band.
@@SterileProphet yeah me too, but I’m sure the other guys from b4b are involved because if it was just Rob he’d release just another Ramallah album. But either way I’d still be happy with any new stuff
I find that the most pissed off bands are the most compassionate ones. You can't be pissed off when you're filled with apathy.
I also think that the "pissed off" nature of the music get diluted when the same techniques are used by multiple bands. It loses it's effect and what was effective 20/30 years ago can seem generic now.
Agree, there’s too many bands that water down the genre
Extreme anger comes from pain and sadness. That balance keeps things juicy lol
Totally agree.
Can't remember who said it, but the phrase "a world without shadows is a world without sun," seems fitting in most bands discography. You'll never understand grief if you've never understood joy.
Empathy + emotional incontinence. Mature people are able to control their emotions.
Hearing them say 2002 was before their time makes me feel old and sad
Today is the Day. Nothing else compares. Pissed, violent, angry, depressed, psycho, brutal in a totally non death metal way, list goes on and on. Nothing beats them, ever.
Forgot about them, seriously angery and dark. Very edgy
The best, along with UNSANE
Great shout.
Agreed on TITD. An unreal live band.
sadness will prevail is one of the most emotionally affective albums ever
Kiss it Goodbye is the angriest most violent stage presence I’ve ever seen
Kudos for mentioning All Bets Off, immediately brought me down nostalgia lane. Never knew him personally but Sammy was literally at every hardcore show I went to as a kid in the bay area. RIP Sammy The Mick
Dillinger Escape Plan, early Converge, second wave black metal and Strapping Young Lad get my votes.
Edit to add Cursed. Chris always sounded super pissed off
Agreed, DEP was what I tuned in for.
Cursed man... Night Terrors.
THOSE BANDS RULE 🔥🔥🔥
SYL was always the band I went to when I needed to understand the words in my head when I was pissed off. Dev wrote from the soul
As great as Cursed is, I'm gonna put Haymaker on the list before them.
Solid list of bands, a few I know and a few I'd definitely want to check out! If I were put on the spot to do a similar list I'd have name-dropped Negative Approach, Black Flag, Noothgrush, Grief, Unearthly Trance and Eyehategod.
Grief is soo heavy
Stoked you started things off with Ceremony. Such a pivotal band for me when I first came across Violence Violence.
Atari Teenage Riot should clearly be on this list, for Burn, Berlin, Burn! or 60 Seconds Wipe Out, or their live performance in the streets of Berlin when they all got arrested in 1999 (yes, you can easily find it on youtube).
Or SPK - Slogun, from 1979!
Atr is the one of the most intense things I have ever seen
Ceremony Violence Violence is a great album. I just saw Negative Approach live and Brannon looked pretty angry.
Negative Approach is easily the most intense live show I’ve ever seen. It was pure, unbridled rage. One of the best nights of my life.
@@josephhinson62 the guitars matched his intensity. A lot heavier and pissed than I expected. It was much different with the rest of the show when Adolescents and Circle Jerks came up.
I saw clutch in Detroit this year and they had dinosaur jr open for them and their final song they had Brannon come on stage and he looked soooooooo pissed
Strangled was the most pissed off band IMO. They were only around for a short period and didn't even release a full album, but holy shit the songs they did make went HARD! When they performed live the 2 singers who were brothers would have slap fights on stage.
Their new band Orphan is fuckin sick and just as pissed
I'm so caught up in the past, that i didn't realize there were so many good bands I've never heard of playing today. Including these guys. This video popped up on my feed and for some reason I checked it out and shit, I'm so grateful. I just discovered 5 new bands I didn't know about and sound amazing.
The older ones they talk about, of course I knew about. But damn, so refreshing to find new music like this.
Every now and then, very rarely, the UA-cam algorithm gives you a blessing.
I would add Green Rage, Born Against, Black Flag and maybe Abnegation
Solid list for sure, some other of note that immediately come to mind are, xTyrantx, Blood for Blood, Rotting Out, Xalbia, Slapshot, Integrity, Colalese, Snuffed on SIght, Pain of Truth, Nails, Shai Hulud, Tragedy, and zheani
Good list. I feel like The Rival Mob, Spy, and Magurdergrind would fit on here well
100%
Dillenger Escape Plan always seemed pissed as hell. I'm very surprised they didn't get a nod.
This video should’ve been titled the hardest hardcore hardcore bands
I saw them open for Misfits! It was durning the era they were touring for Calculating infinity. They still had Dimitri.
I'd NEVER seen anyone do what are the standard for metalcore stage moves. They thrashed SOOOO HARD! They played soooooo technical! It blew my mind!
And for the hits on 43% burnt... Dimitri blew the huge fireballs!
It was "show stealer!!!"
Fits put on a great set that night though!
I've seen others steal shows like that! But fits were in their prime!
Next fits show I saw they actually broke up on stage!
No one could believe it! It was the Orlando FL show at house of blues
Yeah, they're my favorite band and also the most insane live show I've ever seen. very few can replicate the true passion and raw power Dillinger brought. And the fact a lot of their songs are in standard and that heavy is insane.
Dimitri on the Calculating Infinity album sounds like he could jump out of the CD player any moment and beat you to death.
They’re not hipster enough for these two, that’s why
Holy fuck I just saw these dudes live less than a week ago, had never heard of them before, and now they’re on here? Good for them
1. 0:14 - Ceremony
2. 1:23 - Negative Approach
3. 2:31 - All Bets Off
4. 3:39 - Soul Glo
5. 4:26 - Gulch
6. 5:36 - Amyl and the Sniffers
7. 6:47 - Zulu
8. 7:51 - Impact Unit
9. 8:34 - Melvins
10. 9:55 - Drain
11. 11:19 - End It
The Melvins is the only band I know. Lol.
@@te9591 get on it homie
@@xangrycatmanx5104 that Drain band looks pretty good.
Why isn't eyehategod on the list
As much as I love the Melvins, Napalm Death is an easily more furious band
I’m a huge fan of 80’s Hardcore (i.e., Warzone, Youth of Today, Agnostic Front, Insted, Depeche Mode, Breakdown, etc.) and while I don’t listen to newer “Hardcore”, I can appreciate it. Thanks for this tour.
Depeche mode? Hardcore?
@@Zombie_NO_Pin Haha! I was wondering when someone would notice. 😂
@@neotek8582 Lol. But they are a great band.
@@neotek8582 I saw agnostic front once. There was a big reunion concert. Anti-heros too. Unfortunately dropkick was headliners. Always thought they were biters like Lars. Always dropping the word skinhead. AF was always real. I like "the last resort" too
Depeche Mode are great. At least Black Celebration, Music For The Masses & Violator!
no idea how CURSED didnt make this list but.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What a great bunch of angry Canadians.
Cursed are one of my favourite bands but Colohan was definitely more pissed screaming for Left for Dead.
Kublai Khan, Nails, The Chariot, Dillinger, END, Slipknot but only the Iowa Album, Helmet, Ion Dissonance, Cult Leader, Primitive Man, Vermin Womb, Living Weapon
Bad Mood...fucking love Helmet
Helmet’s Meantime is a fucking beast of an album
Was hoping Primitive Man would pop up in here. Nails is definitely really mad, too
you hippies forgot about Unsane.
Chris Spencer brings the pissed most def
Zao, Dead to Fall, and Early Evergreen Terrace
END ITTTTT
need a proper full length from them. Excellent choice.
I love the Melvins, have the stag flower tattoo’d! Definitely negative approach, amyl and the sniffers, gulch, zulu and ceremony are up there for me aswell.
Cool video from an old guy... now I will check out more of your band. PS like the Melvins check but they are funny & not angry
Thanks guys.....I can totally relate, two thumbs way up!!
Good list. INFEST is the most pissed off band ever in my opinion. Blood Pressure is up there too.
Was looking for an Infest mention in the comments! Also, brilliant mention on Blood Pressure.
Love her for mentioning the Melvin’s what a queen
literally the best band of all time.
These are not the most pissed off bands.
I’m a San Jose CA, native and it’s cool to see bands from my side of the globe get some love. Scowl shows are so much fun🙂
I randomly came across scowl in 2016. I dug em, but I never thought much of it. So glad to see them get the recognition they deserve 🙏🏼
That 1st band, Ceremony, is a sound I've been looking for my whole life. It's like consistently slamming your head into a brick wall. Thanks for recommending it!
Also don't get your hopes up lol they really only sound like that for 2 albums, Violence Violence and Still Nothing Moves You. But as the person above mentioned, there are a lot of bands in the power violence genre that are just as good.
Ceremony is hands down my favorite band. So fucking good.
Check out No Comment - Downsided
Soul Glo is so sick. I just got into them a few months ago. Same for Scowl. Hope to see both these bands soon!
If this is an "Ever" list, Minor Threat has to have a spot. No one has ever been as pissed as Ian MacKaye that someone else was getting drunk and laid.
Then fugazi when he was pissed about people getting drunk, laid, and moshing lol
That is criminal. They invented pissed off music!
@@coldkissofsteelnah that was bad brains
@@dougthealligator what songs do they sing pissed off? They play fast, but not angry.
Um, maybe Filler?@@coldkissofsteel
Great video! Love that they mentioned Soul Glo, Zulu and End It, those are all amazing amazing bands!🖤💚♥🤎💕💙💜💛🧡❤❤🔥
Thanks for all the tips!
Off the top of my head i'll say Trash Talk, Benumb and Left for Dead.
Definitely Trash Talk
BENUMB.
Dangers has to get a nod too
In no particular order. Disclaimer this is coming from a ex hardcore punker kid turned death metal/black metal guy. Still enjoy all these bands and Gulch without a doubt is a newer one that not only is super pissed off but also do it in a different way as cliche as that sounds.no other way to explain it. RIP Gulch
1. Cursed
2. Trap Them
3. Grief
4. Infest
5. Siege
6. The Secret
7. Funeral Chic
8. Gulch
9. Nails
10. Buzzoven
11. Converge (early)
Ex-hardcore guy turned extreme metalhead? Are you me?
Solid list bro
Shit, Siege!! I knew I forgot one!
I was very fortunate to see All Bets Off open up at a hardcore show in Redding in 2005, right after they dropped "We'll Die Here." Definitely a next-level performance.
I have a wealth of saved playlists now. Thank you, but no Circle One?
I saw soul glo live and the crowd was the most pissed off I seen. Awesome people. Small venue in Denton Texas. Got tore tf up
This list is incomplete without Siege & Napalm Death...
Hi, I was looking up #limpbizkit videos and this one pulled up. Is this a mistake? I thought for sure Limp Bizkit would be mentioned but I guess not. Thanks for nothing now I am pissed
Drain was the most intense pit i've every been in, they opened for terror but people went off for drain
I was hoping dystopia would’ve been on the list
Amyl And The Sniffers and GULCH. BEST PICK!!🔥
bands i have never heard but will be checking out
Pig Destroyer, Knocked Loose, Boundaries
Scrolled too far in the comments before I saw Knocked Loose, thank you.
For me the undeniably angriest bands are Nails, Sex Prisoner, Dillinger Escape Plan and Dragged into Sunlight.
DRAGGED. INTO. SUNLIGHT…..DONE.
Ayy Sex Prisoner!
Dragged Into Sunlight rules
Crossed Out isn’t on this list. I’m disappointed.
Insect Warfare isn't on the list. Scowl poses hard.
And Infest. But they can't be giving up all the secrets all easy.
@@ultraslang Infest and NA were the first on my mind before watching this!
to be fair i dont think they know that world, you know the end of the line.
@@scottowens4162 I agree. At 44 years old, I saw the evolution of grindcore and power violence so I have a lot of personal knowledge. However, Slap-A-Ham, 625 Records, and all of those bands are really, really, really underground music. I think very few people know about this music. Also, being back Hatred Surge.
Nice to see Amyl with Gacked on Anger!
If you want some more pissed of hardcore: outbreak, the suicide file, ringworm, 100 demons, piece by piece, the hope conspiracy…
Ringworm all the way, dude.
Fuckin Ringworm for sure!
The Blood Brothers were a guilty pleasure, Crimes was such a downshift from all the fast paced rage.
they blew my mind when I was 17. Crimes was the first album I heard but burn piano island burn was my favorite. soon after their earlier stuff was disgusting especially the first EP.
They opened my eyes to Botch, DLJ, the locust etc.. the blood brothers are still one of my favorites tbh and I owe a lot of my attitude to being open to different genres to the blood brothers.
I could have grown up to be one of those old geezers that only listens to old rock/metal.
Poison Idea, Black Flag, EyeHateGod, The Exploited
I feel like Primitive Man, Hell, Full of Hell, and Venom Prison are some metal bands that're all worth mentioning here
All I wanted was a PEPSI!
-Suicidal Tendencies
Edit: The Melvins with Down was the single loudest show I ever went to, with a hangover.
I love the melvins and down but tbh that sounds like a nightmare
Slapshot and Sheer Terror should be in the list.
Came here to say EXACTLY those two bands.
That's funny you say Slapshot . I was thinking Negative Fx. Nobody was more pissed off than Choke.
Today is the Day.
Strife for sure should have been on this list
Cool. Great stuff. Here’s my list: The Jesus Lizard, Nirvana, Sepultura, Metz and Cliff Richard
Sunami, Xibalba, Vein, Nails, Jesus Piece, Year of The Knife, Pain of Truth, Queensway, Three Knee Deep, Kharma, Reserving Dirtnaps, Down to Riot, Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Anaal Nathrakh.
I can get some of their selections, but not all of them sound pissed to me. Interesting takes though.
Anaal Nathrakh is a perfect pick. whole catalog is pure vitriol.
Doesn’t get any more pissed off then some 80s Black Flag .
I ❤ Scowl. I❤ Hardcore Punk Rock. Watching from London UK. P.S. No MadBall on the list ?
How is Corrupted not on here. That first album is the most furious thing I’ve ever heard.
i love them but that kind of anger isn't as obvious. the sound is loud, but their presence is often obscure and in the shadows. it's a slow seething rage that eventually implodes, but at times the music is very introspective and restrained too. have you listened to their final album ? it doesn't solely rely on feedback or sheer volume but takes you through a whirlwind of emotions - not just anger. orchestrated guitar tones of depression, regret, guilt, yearning. the vocals are even whispered. i haven't heard anything else like it and believe it's their masterpiece.
Gulch is a sick shout. I feel like Employed To Serve should be on this list though. Seeing them at Tech Fest was mad.
Every slam band should be on this list. We love our vitriol. Also Vitriol is great too.
SUCH a great mix of Pissed!
Check it out,John Brannon is the man!
Nails is probably the angriest bands ive ever heard. their music is visceral and absolutely unforgiving.
I know they're not that angry anymore, but glassjaw's first album was pure epic raging pissed. Motel of white locust bruises my ears every time.
I just saw their 20th anniversary tour, I missed night one (EverythingYEWTKASilence), but saw them perform Worship and Tribute in its entirety, with an encore of songs from Material Control. It was awesome but I wish I caught night 1 as that album was one of the first few that really opened me up to hardcore/post-hardcore, when I previously gravitated to metal.
Also their last album Material Control is heavy and raw like their early stuff
literally was thinking abt Jaw. Silence is a perfect album imo. Got to see that and Worship played in full in March. Was a top 5 night.
Did any of you ever see the band TALK IS POISON play live? They were simply amazing.
I seem to remember TOXIC NARCOTIC being beyond brutal.
Oh, and local to me, those youngsters from BOTCH.
Oh...and ZEKE!!
Botch is so fuckin' good 🔥
Toxic Narcotic are extremely pissed, good mention
Acid bath, nails, death grips, gulch, portrayal of guilt
Song playing in the background on 8:40 ?
Great list. Would throw Show Me the Body in mine. Julian’s live performances are amazing
It’s impossible to make a comprehensive list with only 11 bands, but RINGWORM!
Ringworm dam straight
What a list of pissed bands without Blood for Blood or Sheer Terror
I saw a negative approach back in the day it was gbh cro-mags negative approach at the Crystal Palace it was a great show I can't go to shows anymore I'm old but I still love listen to those albums most people my age 67 have no clue about what good music is
Dillinger, Converge, Code Orange
i like a couple of bands on here but none of them are pissed sonically at all. when i think of pissed off i think of bands like crossed out, hatred surge or benumb.
Agreed. Enemy Soil would be on my list too
@@goat666db oh yes. i am in contact with richard actually.
What about Outbreak, old Bury Your Dead(mosh and roll era), Move BHC, or XbishopX?
Will this video be about the most angry bands or the most drunk bands?
Judge, Negative Approach, Blood For Blood, Ryker’s get my vote.
As a New Zealander, I expected these bands to be drunk ….
lmao in the states being pissed means really angry but they also will say im
pissed drunk if they drink a lot or say im wasted
Can’t believe it ain’t on here but Slipknot. Especially early records and even some of the recent ones - Corey has consistently remained furious all over their career.
None of Ethan's projects (CTTTOAFF, Primitive Man) no mention of Admiral Angry/Black Sheep Wall, no Magrudergrind, no Gaza, idk pretty good mentions though
God help these people if they finally hear Despise You.
So angry
I almost guarantee they have, if they know all bets off they know depise you. im guessing powerviolence isn't they're thing.
I feel like Integrity needs to be on this list big time
I hope Skitsystem, Final Exit and Fredag den 13:e is on this list
Good list, but my I feel latter-period Napalm Death should be on this last. The loud and heavy guitars, the blast beats and Barney Greenway's vocal delivery and manic onstage presence make for a very pissed off band imo.
GG Allin and the Murder Junkies? He threw his own shit at people lol
but the music wasnt that heavy
Cold as life
Kickback
Irate
Blood for blood
Demolition hammer
Demolition Hammer fuck yea
Irate is the sonic equivalent of a face tattoo
Yes! Negative Approach! John Brannon is in his 60s & _he's still pissed!_ Honored to see them 3 times recently. I include the band that got me into hardcore in 84 when a friend dared me to go see them, Black Flag. Henry Rollins _in the mid 80s_ looked & acted pissed, austere, scary & threatening the 2 times I saw them in the 80s. I was intimidated, but I was a metal head new to punk. Just discovered Amyl and the Sniffers & they're my current favorite band! THEY'LL BE IN DALLAS IN A WEEK! I've not been so excited about seeing a band in a long time & I'll go see them in Austin, also!
Respect for listing Negative Approach!
