I struggle with anxiety already, but when I get low sleep and drink too much caffeine it just increases my anxiety like 10 fold. Ive learned its really important to get at least 7 hours of sleep.

Couldn't agree with this more! I have an episode in this series on sleep which you can find in playlists, but I recommend not using an alarm and waking up naturally.
If you're constantly woken up by your alarm, that means you actually need more sleep and if you have to be up at a certain time in the morning then you need to go to bed earlier.
7 hours is too little for me personally, because of the physical and mental demands I'm placing on myself on a daily basis and so I just allow myself to rest as much as I need to. It makes everything else I'm doing better and easier as a result.

Well said! These are the actual important issues of mostly everyone’s lives, even the ones who aren’t aware of it. I really liked they way you described meditation, that it’s a way of distancing yourself from immediate reactions both conciously and unconciously.🤝

Yeh this is so key! People brush past a lot of this stuff but don’t realise the importance of it, but it’s the cumulative negative effects of loads of these factors that’s the insidious killer. Death by w thousand cuts

👍 Training for a better version of ourselves is also about training our minds. Being able to deal with a monkey mind really gives me more space to be productive rather than thinking of "what ifs" that use up energy and cause stress unnecessarily. Meditation, just as you've raised, is a game changer for that. Love your work, Grant, because you take a holistic approach. Thank you for your videos.

Definitely related to the ending on avoiding negative emotions when that’ll only do more harm than good, so it’s uncomfortable when I face them but I’m facing them head on, like an angry bull & also I’ve been wanting to try meditation. For a while I’ve actually attempted but I cannot take control over my active mind or more like calm it down. I think it’ll especially be difficult for me as an over-thinker, cause meditation is the exact opposite other than that great vid! Im always happy to learn from your vids! But idk I guess you could say there are different forms of meditation, I like to think of my training as a form of meditation 🤔.

    • @grantstevensma
      @grantstevensma  3 місяці тому +1

Many people view training as a kind of meditation, myself included, but this is more like a kind of flow state, active meditation where you can 'get into the zone', but this isn't the same thing.
The type I'm talking about is different and has a different function, in that it allows you to become aware you're not your thoughts, emotions or perceptions and instead the witness of them, and so essentially none of those things we believe are US are actually true - giving you dominion over them and becoming less reactive.

I remember hearing people mention that my generation seems to age terribly. (I.e look 42 when we're really only 24)
But as people have pointed out we're a generation constantly bombarded with stuff to make us stressed. Like the climate crisis, migrant crisis, upcoming elections (where our opposition is literally Hitler but worse), pandemics, potentially WW3 and the scary prospect of dying alone because of the lack of socialisation and romance in our lives. All of this constantly to hand on our phones and on the news.
We also seem to have more bad habits that hinder our ability to deal with stress. Like constant stimulation and poor diet.
It's imperative to become stronger with all this stacked against us.

Very interesting video I like meditation but the way I see meditation nowadays is it is a way to deal with unnatural stress such as training or job or school what we do in nature is really we just hunt and build shelter and have fun and have children really the root of low testosterone to me anyway is agriculture and modernity. Many factors lower testosterone such as not getting enough cholesterol(Animal Fat) which that is what testosterone is made of, Soy products and unnatural foods that have anti nutrients that rob nutrients from meat, Fluoride in city water. Also as far as escaping your comfort zone this is useful but stress will still make you age faster and lower testosterone. I train but I consume raw organs from deer too repair damage quickly. I think the men with highest testosterone are men who live naturally like eating raw meat and drinking blood because that is what we do in nature. We have strayed so far away from nature and now so many men are plauged with disease. Just from my experience going from Bruce Lee kind of foods Chinese and Japanese too raw primal diet and Natural Nutrition I can feel my testosterone is so high and I build muscle so easily. Nature is perfect.

Very good points bro! I think it’s about adapting what it is to your own lifestyle and goals. Like even the very nature of me doing UA-cam is stressful. Having to think of the ideas film and produce all the content and all that while managing other life, but it’s something I want to do to build my channel and presence online.
So it’s similar to how you commented about training before, it’s not 100% ideal for stress, but we have a reason to do it, so that’s why we still do it.
So I think there is a total ideal and it’s good to know that, but the world were all in nowadays makes these management tools like meditation necessary. I want to achieve a lot so I have to take the stress that comes with that.
But I completely agree with the fact the world and society we have constructed for ourselves today is completely out of alignment with nature, hence the mental health catastrophe that exists today that we still collectively don’t look in the mirror and realise it’s the way we’re living causing it all. Instead it’s the opposite and the majority of people think we’re at the pinnacle of civilisation. It’s completely backwards.
Appreciate all your support and feedback brother 🙏🏼

@@grantstevensma True the thing with health is I say it is not healthy too train but it is useful and I use it for strength, skills, fun and buisness. I want too be as skilled as you and I appreciate that you make this content. If youtube is stressful there are things that can help you edit it and make it more easy like AI. I will be creating content eventually but for now I am just focusing on my physical skills as I want too set a high standard same as you. I actually posted 2 videos because of your comment that you told me too make them now so thank you for that. I got 16 subscribers with 2 low quality videos of just my everyday life🤣 so I geuss that is something.
