This has been my dream bike and i finally got one second hand. The hype is real, what an incredible machine. This thing has to be the ultimate one bike quiver. Excellent review, you nailed it
Man the want for this bike is strong. I'd swap out the bar and stem, fit a grip2 damper and disconnect the twinlock from the front, get the other twinlock remote that allows an under-bar dropper lever and it would be perfect.
Yeah, I would drop the twinloc, and just have it for the rear shock...with the other lever for the dropper. That would be perfect. WIth a better fork on the front.
@@nathan4432 You guys prefer bushings or bearings? I don't know much about it but I heard bushings are lower maintenance but then I guess bearings will run smoother?
Hey Brandon did you mess with removing any spacers from the Nude TR? Fox is shipping them with max volume spacers installed (8). With the ramp switch it seems like you could remove a couple and make it feel very coil like and then just flip a switch to make it more progressive. Did you mess with that at all? Removing spacers appears to be something you can do trail side with just a pick to remove the C clip.
I really really loved to ride that bike. I thought the long travel would be an overkill but holy shit I never had so much fun on my local downhill traill. Wanna try the sb 150 next :P
Love this bike. Only wish I lived by some gnarlier trails it was made for. Most of the local trails where i live the ransom is Overkill. Great review. Just FYI Syncros updated their handlebar and stem IC Hixon SL. It's now much wider at 780mm with a slightly differnt degrees in spec. Also it's way lighter 👍🏻
I want to see someone introduce 31” wheel bike so badly. Also with 115m boost front, some 155 rear, running 21 and 13mm axles, with 1.6” head tube. Lets throw in some custom handlebar and seatpost width and the package is full. Ah ye, new BB standard
Great review! I like to have some advice form you! I have a Ransom 2020 size M and i am passing it to my 13 YO son so its a bit big for him right now and would like to know if it will help him feel more in control and smaller if a switch to 27.5 wheels.. he like bike parks and jump.. thanks.
Hello VitalMtb from Milan, is it actually possible to change the shox (ex. Fox dhx2 or float x2) on ransom? Always nice job! Bye and keep shredding the gnar, Filippo
Provided you can find a shock of the same 205x60mm dimensions, there shouldn't be an issue. I honestly never felt as though the absence of a piggyback shock hindered the Ransom.
Yes. After taking it on some longer high-country days, I know it's up to the task with less effort required than many comparable 29ers. Twinloc works well in climbing scenarios.
Nice video! And riding...! would be viable to run 27'5 rear, 29er front?I would like to build a mullet, any thoughts on running Coil on it? (Getting rid of the twin-lock sistem)
Mullet should be perfect on this as it also gets the bb a little bit lower and the only issue many people seem to have is a high bb(only 22mm drop) Coil is not a great idea imo as the linkage doesn't seem progressive enough for that kind of stuff But id definitely get rid of the twinloc on the fork and if you want you can fit a proper piggyback aircan in the back Hope that answer is not too late ;)
very good review i like the style i tested genius 920 and twin lock in amazing for pedaling efficiency but this additional leaver on handlebars is pain in the ass. they shoould realy work on ergonomics
The bike does have a few paint chips on it for sure. Some are from rocks flying off the front wheel. We've found clear vinyl works well to protect new bikes.
great review. great bike. can't help but think americans would rather go for an american brand like yeti, which will get a cracked frame after 2 rides.
Very nice, but almost 8000 euro is absolutely ridiculous, there are many biks today equally good for half of this price... people must understand this.
@@vitalmtb You talking about the short clip of rooty section at 3:30ish? Ok, he rode some rough for 1% of the clip, the rest is park hooning on groomed berm trails and slopes.
@@-phos-, we hear you. Purg is getting there. Know that the Ransom saw plenty of rocks and high-country rowdy bits. Durango has it all, we just don't film it all for every video. More terrain nearby: ua-cam.com/video/R9FtkClt_dA/v-deo.html
This guy needs to do all reviews. It would be a game changer for the channel! Great review!!
Best bike review I've seen
Really good review from a good rider
Yes a refreshing change from typical reviews that just spew marketing hype.
great rider*

more reviews from this guy!
Definitely one of the best and most thorough reviews of this bike I've seen
This guy should do more reviews!
Great review. Any chance we can get the same guy to do one of the Aluminium Ransoms for comparison?
This made me decide on a Scott Ransom as my first mtb. Holy smokes this dude is riding nicely.
I think i just did as well. Manuals? Check. Climbing, jumping and versatility? Check.
Brandon’s fast AF!

Great riding, great review. Top marks.

Just needs a $300 grip 2 cartridge not a whole new fork.
@@GRPABT1 isnt the airspring different as well with a larger negative chamber?
This bike is capable of doing everything 😍

Great video dude!
прекрасный обзор, и просто невероятный байк.scott в очередной раз доказал что они точно знаю что и как нужно делать.
Dude, you're riding is on point! so fun to watch. Any chance you can share your GoPro settings?
1080p, 24fps, Superview!
Great review and riding footage. That bike is sick but pricey.
Big thing is there is bearings in all the pivots vs bushings in the genius models.
The 2019 geniuses switched to bearings.

Would it fall behind much in climbing compared to the genius? Also how does the standover height compare to the 2018 genius?
What camera was this.. hero 4 black with gimbal or hero 7?
Hero 4 Black with gimbal. In our experience the new Hero's stabilization leaves something to be desired.
@@vitalmtb it is true and audio is not as good on the hero 7

Please review the latest ransom e-bike!
Hi there! I have a question. If i buy the low end ransom can i upgrade the shocks while keeping the twinlock or its fixed from factory?
Would your recommend it for aggressive trail riding with a lot of uphill?
Yes. After taking it on some longer high-country days, I know it's up to the task with less effort required than many comparable 29ers. Twinloc works well in climbing scenarios.

Wow, you are quick
Someone else does offer this...see Gemini from Cannondale. Only difference is the 2 clicks vs 1.
How does the twin-lock change the geometry 1,5 degrees without a shapeshifter like on the canyon strive?
By reducing the rear travel, it changes the sag point and picks you up a perceptible amount.

I wonder how this thing would run with a mullet setup
What tires pressures were you running?
Still only two year warranty on the frame?
It's 5 years on the frame, 2 years on the fork.
The want for this bike is very high...every review bike I have seen out there has chip marks all over it though...I may go for the alu model...

Which Ransom is it? 910?
We had andrew neetling 2 scott ramsom
what psi do you run?
can you mullet this thing?
wouldn´t it be possible to run the bike mullet in highmode?
could be. this video was made before mullets were a common thing (2019).
Is the Ransom noticeably better on descents than Genius?
On steeper, rougher, rowdier descents, the Ransom wins.
Twinloc should just be one lever like the Box push push.
Yeah and it should be just in the rear in my opinion.
can you take the twin lock system off the bike ?
Yes, of course.
