The Namdroling Monastery, popularly referred to as 'The Golden Temple' is one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India. Located in Bylakuppe, about 5 kms from Kushalanagara in Kodagu district, The Golden Temple complex is home to about 16000 refugees and 600 monks .The temple complex is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors require a permit to visit the temple. Within the temple complex are Tibetan food stalls and shop.Golden Temple There is no entry fee to visit the Tibetan Monastery.Popularly called as Golden Temple, the Namdroling Monastery was established by Drubwang Padma Norbu Rinpoche in 1963. This is the largest teaching center of Nyingmapa, a lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, in the world and is home to a sangha community of over 5000 monks and nuns.
