Really nice Kieran, can’t beat it ☀️ only another month of pike fishing before water temps get too warm to target them, they are super active right now it’s brilliant fun ! 💪
Serious fish caught I wish I had a boat do you do tour's? I'd love to get out on the water with you to pick up a few tips and tricks. Great video as always keep up the great work I really appreciate it 👌🏻
Thanks Lewis! Wasn’t even going to upload this session, the evening ones are always fun, hopefully a few more before the temperatures get too warm, luckily it’s deep water on derg, so should be okay for a little while more 👌 then sea fishing, perch fishing, maybe some trout fishing, summer months are good fun 👌
Thank you Senan for next great video lots of great tips. One day I will meet you on the lake was fishing there few days back 😀 Got pike for one of Mel lures as well . Keep going with amazing content 🤩
I’m working on getting my own guiding business set up right now with Paul from Irish Fishing Tours. Ie , check out his website, he can take your booking 👍
Hi Senan . Enjoying the videos . I just got my son a baitcaster. Went fishing with it and it keeps snapping the line . (Braided line ) . Don't know what size line as bought second hand . Thanks Pat
Hi pat, if the braid that was on it was an old cheaper brand UV rays could have damaged it over the years. Also with braided line, make sure to use a Palomar knot as your knot, other knots can slip on braid, palomar is easy and the strongest knot to use. 🫡 try Berkley whiplash braid 0.25mm (88lb) or else Berkley sick braid.
Hi Senan, great work on the videos, been binging the channel all day, I am new to pike fishing but notice most of your pike fishing is winter / spring when the weather and water is colder, how is pike fishing in summer? are the fish deeper down? do they become lazy / lethargic? I heard it's to do with their metabolism? would love to hear your thoughts on months / seasonality
Sorry only seen your comment now Andrew. The summer pike fishing is good for action on lures, once it’s not too hot, we avoid fishing when the water temp is above 19-20degrees, thankfully in Ireland, on glacier lakes like derg and ree, those temperatures are very uncommon. The pike in summer can be anywhere, mostly shallow in the weedbeds as that’s where their food will be, roach and small fry feed off the weeds in summer. Wouldn’t advise anyone to deadbait in the summer months, pike are very active and can easily swallow a deadbait. With our lure fishing, we have the fish in and released in 30 seconds a lot of the time. Deadbaiters seem to take a lot longer to reel in, unhook, and release their fish, a big no no in summer.
@@senanstanleyfishing thanks for the reply Senan, value the expert knowledge :) and thanks for letting me know about deadbaiting, hopefully I can get up to Ree for some lure fishing soon 👌
Are you sponsored by Savage gear or just using their gear? I love their gear but not the reels. They aren't as good as I need and have lots of trouble regarding quality control and continuous use.
@@senanstanleyfishing Okay. You seem to like their shit as much as I do. How has the SG baitcaster been working for you? Here in Swe ABU/Pure Fishing service them in the Abu factory 300m from my apartment, and they've had to replace quite some reels. For some it seems like they work very fine for, others just quit working fast. Was going to buy a SG10 for very cheap but when I asked around I got this info and bought a Curado 201M and a Tatula 300 instead. Nice to change reel for the fishing that's going to be done. I don't throw more than ~130g and for that both works. Mostly use the 201 on my Jerkbait rod and tatula on a SG2 Power 7'3"70-130g. Am thinking of buying SG2 6'9" jerk specialist 80-150g too now, here in the following days. Maybe, maybe not, we'll see. I love them SG Power rods I have, have two have had three of them. Very much rod for the money when you pay ~40-50£ for them. Not light, but oh so nice for the momey
Great fishing Senan, unreal pike...i missed a beauty in the deep waters yesterday 😢.. great being out in the good weather, great for the head.

@@senanstanleyfishing would they be in the deeper waters now with the hot weather,Senan?
They are everywhere now pal, In shallow weeds and deep water, any bit of vegetation will hold pike at the moment
@@senanstanleyfishing thanks Senan.

That's great thanks. What strength line would you recommend. It's 6'6" 15/45g Abu garcia .sorry but we are new enough to fishing .
@patoflaherty9330 for a smaller rod like that they normally come with a smaller baitcaster, try to get at least 30lb braid for it ☺️👍
Very nice evening session. Senan what's the name of this boards you put to keep lines away from each other. I can't find it
Thank you, they are planer boards, a lot of different company’s do their own versions
Thank you. I'm heading to cavan next week and it would be nice to have them
Great pike
Thank you ✌️
Great video, one question what's ur thoughts on the stock clips on those supracruz boards
They are brilliant clips pal, best on the market by a country mile 👌

Hi Senan, what savage gear rod is paired with the sg6 300 baitcaster (silver)
Hi, that’s one of the sg2 jerk rods 80-100 gram ☺️
Thanks Senan. Would you be able to link a rod and reel you would use or recommend for trolling
Some fish there bud, did you measure or weigh any of them
Hi Pauric how’s things bud, last one was 106cm, first two were shorter, I don’t weigh them unless they feel really really heavy 💪😁
Hi Senan , great video as always. Quick question where did you get the Quick change weights are they Mels .🎣🎣🐊🐊
Thank you! Ya Mel sells them on the website, they come in a packet 👌
Excellent video
Nice one!
Do u do trout guiding tours
Class video senan. Wat benefit is the float when ur trolling aswell I’m thinking of getting one
They spread your lures out to cover more water :)
Where is that
Along the river Shannon catchment
first one was a pig! Athlone Senan?
Thanks rob, no this was further down the Shannon 👌
