- Going to Alaska to shoot stories for a cool group of people, and thought I would share how and what gear I'm packing for the trip.
Gear I use:
Main camera: amzn.to/3SPd1g1
Second camera: amzn.to/3mlncMW
Monitor: amzn.to/3nAqpsT
2nd Monitor: amzn.to/3KlKn3o
35mm: amzn.to/3IWafkw
24mm: amzn.to/3yz2hsV
50mm: amzn.to/41NjhZG
85mm: amzn.to/3SWmKkv
Mic: amzn.to/3F0l5VA
Light: amzn.to/3ZM7t7Y
What is your opinion on the robustness of the XLR top handle for the FX3/FX30? Love your content, subbed!
Thanks Jackson! Top handle has been great for me, no problems. The mic holder is a little flimsy but other than that it’s great
Are you bringing a seperate check-in bag for clothes or just putting within you backpack?
I usually don’t take clothes with me on the plane, check those in a separate bag
Enjoyed the vid! Can’t wait to see some side b-roll from Alaska!
Thanks Kody, excited to use some of it
Need a quick follow up on how you felt about your decisions. Also any tripods?
You got it! Yes 1 tripod I checked with my clothes in a bag
Hey Will! Hope u had a great trip to Alaska and that we had some decent weather for you. This has been a crazy summer so far, lots of rain & now wildfires in the interior. Question I have about your gear: Were you able to take the backpack with cameras, etc. AND the Pelican Case with your lenses BOTH AS CARRY-ONS? Or did u end up having to check one of them as luggage? Other question: Are u an Aggie? Isn't College Station Home of the Aggies? I did live in Houston one year after working on the pipeline as an apprentice welder. Went to welding school, deep down in Texas. Talk about muggy & hot! Texas does have lots of pretty women besides good barbecue & pecan pie. Otherwise, I'll take Alaska, my home any day. Good luck on your shoot. Will be interested in knowing what you & your buddy come up with in your final edit. 😎😎
100% agree on packing less being freeing. I always want to have the right stuff with me, but leave the extra luxuries behind because I hate dragging extra weight around, especially for expedition style shoots.
