I just got my first motorcycle ( 2023 Ninja Zx- 6R KRT edition) in the states last week. It’s a huge update from my previous motorcycle. Love it.

    I bought a 2022 RC 390 a few months ago, and it is indeed a great bike. However after test riding a cfmotto 450ss recently I’ve got to say I wish I went with the ninja 400 or 450ss. The parallel twin is SIGNIFICANTLY more smooth than the single cylinder with the KTM. The riding positions aren’t insanely different from eachother, nor the power output based on what I felt. The throttle of the KTM is a little more twitchy, and the quick shifter is great when fully pinned; but if I were to go back I’d pick up a twin cylinder beginner bike instead- or even something around the 650cc area.

    • @synaethetic
      @synaethetic 11 місяців тому +7

      Another thing to note; the 450ss felt way more stable and less influenced by the wind than my rc390 at highway speeds.

    • @ritwik0
      @ritwik0 11 місяців тому +1

      For first bike one should begin with a single cyl. Yes more cyl is more smooth but as a beginner you would master it then moving up would be easier.

    I bought a 2022 overstock RC390 a month ago, its been track only so far, ive got ~6 hours seat time on it and i love it. Its my first experience with a sport bike as i stuck to dual sports in the past and i love it, super light, power isnt intimidating at all, and its a beautiful bike at that. Really glad i picked it up over an R3

    For me, the RC390 case is pretty simple, I see the competitors as "only begginers" kind of bikes, whereas the RC is the one I would buy (I actually did) even after owning 600cc/1000cc bikes.

    • @leanit5756
      @leanit5756 11 місяців тому +11

      Me too, it sits right next to my (3rd) R1. After riding for 47 years, and having a fair bit of track time under my belt, it wouldn't be my only bike, but it IS a fun bike as long as the roads are tight enough to keep speeds below about 80 MPH. Love how light and slim it is. Great ergonomics. Great dash. Good suspension, good braking feel, good handling. A test rode a Ninja 400 and thought it was just a cheap beginner's bike. Suspension was ridiculously soft. My wife had a R3, but it too really just felt like a beginner's bike first bike. Not nearly as fun as the RC I didn't think.
      It is great having a second bike like the RC around to ride with friends on big bikes who aren't particularly fast riders. It is miserable riding a fast bike like a R6 or R1 around with slower riders.

    I'm currently on the hunt for my first bike and the rc390 seems to be the front runner. 1 because as yammy said it's a fantastic beginner bike and 2 when I do upgrade to a big boy bike I'll have a fun, nimble crotch rocket to zap around the track on without having to worry about damaging my road bike.

    Was gonna get one of these or the duke 390 bc they are cheap and great but after sitting and test riding a Ktm 390 adventure, I fell in love with it lol. I’m more of a super too kind of guy and never liked the looks of adventure bikes but the 390 adventure looks great and rides great as well. I also chose it bc even though I’m young and can handle sitting on a sport bike, I know it was gonna be uncomfortable after a decent ride and I live in the country in the middle of nowhere so there’s a lot of bad roads and dirt roads and the 390 RC wouldn’t be the greatest.

    Last year after 20 years riding i dropped ,cc rating to the rc399 trying to recapture the fun i had when i started riding, theses things carve corners. I have a point to make on the aftermarket side though. I have found every part i needed from tyga and a few other companys. As for the racing side, ktm have targeted the 1.2b people in India here, and with 1000 riders in the ktm cup, support is coming

    Hello Mr noob, I recently bought a street triple 675 from my brother in law for my first bike. This bike needs a new seat and new tires and potentially a chain. That being said this video made me think something like this would be much better for me starting out. Should I sell the street triple and get something like this? The simple fact that the RC 390 comes stock with the adjustable suspension makes it the best option for ANY beginner. Having the ability to make the bike suit your riding skills while being able to make it better as you increase that level of skill is not seen in this price point.

    Even if it is 10kg more, I would still prefer the Ninja 400, especially if you ride it mostly on the road and not strictly as a track bike.
    Besides, the single cylinder sound doesn't really appeal to me cheap motorcycles in my home country all uses single cylinder. So it doesn't sound much different. 😅

    I don't like that you can adjust the suspension by hand, I think you should need some kind of tool to be able to do that. Mostly because I live in india, and here I hate how people will come to you bike while it's parked and fidget with it's controls. I have an apache rtr 200, it has adjustable levers and I have mine at the 3 setting, and most of the time I park it and come back, the settings are changed. I absolutely hate this, like don't touch my bike, I have set it a specific way and anyone changing that pisses me off. Thank god the bike I own needs a tool to adjust the front and rear suspension

    Ridiculously heavy for the discplacement which just SCREAMS "pricepoint holdback of the good stuff" which is so sad....what it COULD have been for another $3k? A nice lightweight screamer? Rather than a HEAVY bike considering it IS a single cylinder! The thing weighs as much as the ktm 690! which has massively more power amd suspension and brakes there is zero reason but price for this bike to weigh more than 270ish pounds all gassed up (a moto3 bike (also a 4 stroke single) weighs 180ish pounds and has a lot more power)...that would not even require ultra exotic components ...yes quality stuff just just not anything crazy

      I take mine into the city once a week which is a 40 minute ride with about 20 minutes on the highway and it’s fine. When you’re on the highway for 1hr+ it does start to become a bit like a torture table.

      @@jamesbanksco do you feel you are stressing the engine too much? I’m talking often 30 minute highway commutes, will the bike hold up?

    Just a small info. Most of the KTM bikes are produced in India and I had a lot of issues with my new Duke 390 from 2021. Overall, I would always pick a Japanese bike over the 390 KTM/Husqvarna bikes.

      Funny coz a lot of my friends and me have KTMs and Huskys bought in recent years and no one has any major issues. On the flip side I was interested in CFmoto 650GT and from first hand experiences it gets really hot in traffic(something common with KTM) and mileage is shit(12-15kmpl).
