- Astoria is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Queens. The Astoria Pool has been under construction for two years. It is a peaceful neighborhood, and I love NYC areas with bodies of water. Check out the area for yourself on a Friday at 4 p.m. in 90-degree weather. The Heat Advisory has been on for weeks, so I try to stay around water. My camera thanks me.
