    Honestly one I would've tossed into this list is the cooling pads and mist sprayers. They are overpriced and poorer quality than equivalent pads/fans/sprayers you can buy online and have prepared prior to a trip. I made this rookie mistake and learned from it.

    I thought our shoulder pets would sit on shelves to collect dust when we got home, and trust me when I say we have PLENTY of shelf souvenirs from our trip! 🤣However, my husband wears his Groot shoulder pet to Zoom work meetings and my teenager has a shoulder pet selfie series going on his phone this summer. I don’t really get it, but it brings them joy, so that’s cool!

    I will say that if you loose your shoulder pet, be sure to talk to guest services and report the item as lost. My wife lost a shoulder Groot and a week or two after our trip she got an email saying they "found it" and shipped it to us at no cost. I am not sure if they just grabbed one from a gift shop that had separated from its magnet or if it was someone else's (sorry, random stranger if it yours yours, he is living a good life on our fridge) shoulder Groot. Groot does not seem that stable, but Figment, Grogu, and the porgs seem to do a better job of staying on.

    Disney has become so complicated and even more expensive than I thought imaginable.
    A perfect day at the park when I was a kid was getting breakfast at McDonald's on the way there, packing necessities like ponchos and snacks to avoid spending extras in overpriced items ,getting there by rope drop, going to our favorite rides first like POTC and then as crowds grew we decided if each ride was worth the wait and went from there.
    We would then pick out someone where to eat for a late lunch ,ride more rides , watch the fireworks with ice cream, and then walk around Main street afterwards for souvenirs as we waited for the crowds to die down.

    I was sure my daughter wasted a lot of money on a shoulder banshee....especially she refused the one on sale with a free stand. However, it was her souvenir money and she really wanted a particular one, so she got it. She ended up wearing it in multiple places, including the Spirit of Aloha luau (may it RIP) and even in her Halloween costume later that year. She still has it in her bedroom on her top bunk. Sometimes those "wastes of money" really aren't.

    I own the shoulder Porg. His name is Sir Porgington and I’ve given him doll sunglasses so he can also not get blinded by the sun on our travels together. I made sure to bring safety pins for shoulder pets just in case. And I’ve had those plush keychains fall off of my park bag before, so I always double chain them just in case. This has saved me on several occasions, as sometimes my backup is all that was keeping them on.
    Also, those shoulder pets reminds me of the PVC figures they used to sell in the parks back in 2015. No one bought them. Only people who I saw wear them were cast members at the retail stores.

    We just got back from Disney World, and thanks to DFB’s videos, had an amazing time. Genie+ was so worth it for us. And I’m obsessed with the shoulder Porg I bought in Galaxy’s Edge. Honestly the worst thing we did was mini golf at Fantasia Gardens. Way too hot to be worth it, since you have to go in the heat of the day before 4p in order to redeem the coupon. We got sweatier there than anywhere in the parks!

    I used to love Disney but they’ve gotten rid of park hopper, the magical express, making people pay for fast passes, getting rid of the dining plan, etc. I know there was a global pandemic so everyone is trying to recover but everything is nickel and dimming with them. You certainly aren’t, I hope for this as well. I also hope current parks leadership, management, and imagineering can return to their senses and produce the attractions they used to that would blow us away, and not something like Web Slingers, Nano Battle, Falcon, or Flight Force.

      It definitely feels like a lot of major corporations are taking advantage of the pandemic by jacking up prices and saying that they’re trying to recover, but Disney is a huge company that makes so much money every year. I think they’re just enjoying charging way more for everything because they know that people are desperate to travel right now and someone will always pay. I’m going to save my money for when Epic Universe opens in a couple years. At least universal is trying to innovate and bring new experiences that don’t feel like a big money grab that they tried to avoid spending money on.

      @@NinthShinigami I want to hope that it’ll be a wake up call, but if disney wanted to keep up, they would’ve had to have started a new park by now. They’re barely even keeping up with maintenance on their existing parks, and anything new they add feels cheap with all the screens. It’s like they don’t want to spend the money needed for a really innovative ride because they know people will still turn up and pay for a fast pass for a cheap omnimover ride with a bunch of screens. It sucks because disney used to be the gold star standard for theme parks, but it seems like they don’t care any more.

Then the hocus pocus show was a great ender and we did that on Halloween night.

      What’s disappointing though is it’s all stuff you could buy locally. A lot of the candy has US distributors, and will tell you on the packaging who it is, so there are many stores back home where I live in Texas, of all places, that sells it. The animé stuff too. Studio Ghibli used to have Disney as a distributor. Not sure who’s doing it now, but I see stuff everywhere. Toei and a lot of other animé is licensed in North American from FUNimation, so all of that will have their logo, as well as the product maker themself. I want to be able to get stuff I can’t get back home. It would be nice if we could get some of that Oriental Land Company merch from their Disney parks and stores. Much cooler and better quality.
      It’s still a great store, probably the best at World Showcase. It’s just disappointing to see stuff I could find at a local Hot Topic or somewhere.

    What bothers me about the parties is the fact that it’s literally the same amount of people in the park as when there isn’t a party, even if it’s a Tuesday in September. It’s like rather than be open later and offer the same amount of thrills for the cost of a regular ticket, they are literally charging you double if you want to do a full day, or full price if you just want to do that half. All these parades and shows used to be complementary and could be experienced throughout the day. And if you missed them, that’s ok because they didn’t kick you out at 6 or 7, they simply stayed open later for you, the regular paying guest.

      Yes I was very OVERWHELMED at my first and only Christmas party, and we went in early November! I didn’t know there was a special event map and felt lost on what and where to go. It is hard to navigate in the dark and it was just as crowded as a regular park day. Extended evening hours also feels just as crowded to me as well.

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk Рік тому +2

      @@rnguyen2516 only paid party we did was Oogie Boogie Bash last September. It was a Tuesday, and cheapest day. This year, we wouldn’t’ve even had a chance, as all tickets sold out first week in July. It worked for us because it was our arrival day, and they had far more hours and stuff to do than WDW’s version. When we arrived, they funneled everyone from the gate into an areas where they were handing out the event maps and trick or treat bags. I did wonder about maps, so I am glad they had them.
      Missed out on a few rides because they closed them for regular guests, then reopen them during the official time. We didn’t do many treat trails because of how insane the line was. We’re talking half the paradise pier lagoon or whatever it’s called fir just Sid from Toy Story. Hour waits on many rides. There was a cool walk through that I really wanted to do because I had seen UA-cam videos of people casually enjoying it, but the line looked to be 2-3 hours long! People seriously paid that much for an attraction that is literally a line! Imagine the Swiss Family Robinson, only super cool Halloween themed. I remembered the rule about being in line before close, so 15 minutes till midnight we got in line and waited about an hour for this walk through attraction. I’m glad we did it, but am also grateful that I didn’t waste three hour of the party waiting for it.
      I wanted to buy a Mickey Mummy popcorn bucket while there, but just like Figment when we went to EPCOT, they had sold out of him and all party/festival merch two weeks before our visit. Ended up buying my bucket for half off at a WDW outlet in February, and the pin off eBay July. With shipping, I don’t think the reseller made a profit. I’m still waiting of Festival or the arts merch to lower in price. It’s all about wait. Problem is you shouldn’t have to wait. You paid for your ticket. They know how many are going. If they sell out the first week, that means everyone for over a month or two can’t buy it.

This may not be known yet, but since we will be together when interacting with the statues anyway, I’m guessing I will be able to get the band for one of us to use for that and everything else that person needs it for, & then the other one of us can use one of my old MagicBands, the mobile app thing, or the card for the things we need one for?
    Also, can I order a MagicBand+ to be mailed to my house so we have it ready to use when we arrive?

    Hey DFB! Please make a video about being a dog parent in Disney World! How are the pet-friendly rooms at the hotels? What about doggy daycare - what’s that like? Not to mention costs for those rooms & daycare! Also, what about drop off & pick up times?? & where is it located in conjunction to the hotel & parks?? How convenient/inconvenient would it be to bring my fur baby?? Thanks for the consideration!! 😁

      Best Friends has two locations near the Disney properties.
      The Disney Parks website lists all pet friendly hotels on property. You can leave your pet in the room but you will not get room service that day. And please let the hotel know... Obviously. Best for you and best for room service. Best for your buddy.
      Best Friends charges depending on what service you want for the day (if your dog prefers noise, you can ask for a movie to be on in the room, etc) and if you want them to have playtime. If you're bringing your dog (or cat) you would want to bring your own vehicle so you can easily get to Best Friends. That said... All pick up and drop off times are subject to change. So it's a little difficult to give you specifics.
      But is it easy? Unfortunately I can't tell you. Your best choice is to talk to those who do this. This is still relatively new! Some animals are not well equipped for the Florida heat so you might have to think about this. Also that's a lot of strange smells. Consider those two and then... make a few calls and see if this is right for you. Many people do this. While staying at Pop Century a few years back, there were two small "friends" beside my room. Someone running past our rooms startled not just me but the dogs. I felt like joining in on the barking at that point... Who runs that loud at 6am, really? Other than that, I got to say hello to them each time we left for the day. Lovely dogs and lovely dog parents...
      You know when we weren't being disturbed by a cheer team deciding to run to the food court at 6am. :B
      I highly doubt DFB would cover this or any other diverse questions or needs that the rest of us have. But Disney Parks themselves have answered this question before and they'd be happy to, again. Sadly I just don't have the answers in front of me right now.
      I hope you get your answer and if this is right for you, I hope your fur baby enjoys their pixie dust.

    I was a little disappointed. First Disneyworld trip a week ago. I bought a 50th anniversary magic band (wouldn’t work for my Wyndham room but was hoping to use it to purchase and go through the gate in the park. When I tried to connect it for the first time it told
    Me to go see a ticketing booth too much work and lost my receipt :(

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk Рік тому

      That’s upsetting. I’ve never had a problem adding purchased ones manually on the my Disney experience site/app. I’ve never heard of them sending people to the ticket booth. Seems like that would be a waste of everyone’s time. Waiting in line to get in, only it won’t let you scan, so you hold up a line until a second person determines that you need to go somewhere else to link it. Had that issue once. I successfully added my band, with everyone else reusing ones they had previously used. Had to go show them that we had a reservation and ticket because I guess you have to “check in” and we weren’t going to our hotel until later that night.
      As for not working at Wyndham, they only work at Disney resort hotels, not good neighbors. This is why, back when there were actual perks for staying on property, magical express wouldn’t take you to good neighbor hotels, or give you a free magicband. I also notice that most places didn’t even have a place to tap your band to pay. It was pretty much just for park entry and genie+. The 50th celebration is almost over, and they don’t even work with the statues yet.

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk Рік тому

      @@cameronparsons3263 you think that’s bad? This was the first time we had to pay extra for MagicBand since they no longer were free. $30 total. I assumed they were going to ship it to our hotel, since that’s what they said they were doing due to time. They arrived at our house while we were on our trip. I had tried calling multiple times, a total of 6 hours on hold, no lie. Having to listen to Ludwig Von Drake sing Jingle Bell Rock (it was late January). Talk to many people but never solved my problem with the bands. I was literally on hold, and finally got someone on my last attempt on the way to the airport, when we got cut off. Im assuming because we drove into a parking garage. This is why everyone but me had to reuse their old bands.
      That experience pretty much foreshadowed what the entire trip was going to be like. We go every year, but after that trip, we are done for a while, if not forever. So those bands might not ever be used. The reason we didn’t immediately buy them in the first place was because I was waiting for the new MagicBand+ to be released.

This covers you and your party. Make sure to look at the list of available rides before you call because they will ask you what rides you want. I had decided on paying the full, recently raised $75, price on a 50th anniversary jersey only to hear about how bad the EARidecent™️ letters were wearing out, many times while still in the stores! They released in January a very similar design that was almost identical, only the EARidecent™️ letters were glitter, instead of the nicer looking foil. I figured this was due to abundant negative feedback. I grabbed my sized and checked out. They had risen the price to $80! Other designs were still $75, but this specific design was $80!
      Bought it anyway since I had already committed myself to the purchase before going on my trip. Later that night, at the hotel room, I discovered that one of the letters was literally falling off!!! I was able to return it at my resort hotels gift shop, but they did not have a replacement. It was 30 degrees that day, and I had really hoped I’d get to wear it then. Went to Animal Kingdom, and all they had was the dog fitted version! They claimed they did stock them but was currently sold out.
      After waiting TWO HOURS for “complementary” shuttle services to Disney Springs from AK, I was able to repurchase this shirt at World of Disney, so I could wear the next day. All during the trip, I kept hearing cast members suggest buying through shopDisney, and guests explaining that the product isn’t sold there. I miss the old days when there was a ShopParks app, because that really helped a lot.
