    Great fun at legal speeds. Understatement of the entire video.

    4:03 I'm not a Boxer fanboy, but it has a unique sound to it. I get why people love it.

    6.02 0-100 is the quickest time recorded on youtube. Wow this car with a supercharger would be the most fun sports car ever. I want one. I have to have one. Hope they fix the rtv and oil starvation problem

    It is a ton of fun! Had a 2014 Series Blue BRZ and so glad I purchased this 2023. The power at the lower RPM’s makes a huge difference. Also there is a seat height adjustment. I’m taller than you and have plenty of room. Maybe you missed it?

      Since I never owned a GT86/BRZ, I can't say I remember if the original 2012 model had seat height adjustment. My 2012 Miata has it, so I find it hard to believe Toyota didn't include it in their car, but then I've seen some weird omissions over the years :)

    dunno why for the first glimpse the rear reminded me of the OPEL Insignia Sedan (mk1) or Insignia A

      The curve, which starts under the wing mirror.

    I miss my GT86 and I regret selling it, but as a daily driver it was definitely a compromised experience. Fun as heck though.
    I ended up modifying mine - extra sound deadening in the doors and proper tyres. I think for the GR86 they addressed the tyre issue but from your review it seems like the noise issue is still there :)

    • @MarekDrivesENG
      @MarekDrivesENG  Рік тому

      Noise is not that much of a problem, but the seats are terrible. We both had bad back aches after a weekend trip in this car, and our physiotherapist had a lot of work bringing us back to life.

      @@MarekDrivesENG Nonsense, the seats are great and feel much chunkier compared to the previous gen, going on long distances while driving in a sedated manner easily makes you forget you are driving a sportscar its that comfy.
      However, I drive the 2nd gen BRZ (softer suspension tuning from factory) not the GR86 with 17x7.5j aftermarket wheels and 225/45 touring tyers (no, not all-seasons as Americans mark them). I made the change for lighter wheels and smaller size specifically to counter the shitty roads where I drive at.
      I doubt competing cars would offer a better suspension setup that's great for both spirited driving and casual cruising without serious adjustments, especially those with /35 rubber on them.

    Great review, its cars like this that in 20 years time we'll be telling youngsters that there was a boxer engine with a manual gearbox.
    By the way what song is playing in the background, my dubstep ears couldn't resist the beats?

    It took me a day and a half to watch this. 4 times, I started to watch, then my wife yelled to me that we are leaving somewhere....she must have a camera watching me! Ha. Anyways, affordable coupe sports cars have always had a rough ride of it in the market imo. Insurance companies like raising the insurance premium on these even though it doesn't have mounds of power. A 4 door GTI type hot hatch always has lower insurance rates and more practicality.

    This is Toyota back to the roots. People will turbocharge the living hell out of that boxer engine. 240 hp will happily be per-cylinder, that manual will easily be replaced with sequential and it will be a drag machine. Love the approach of GR for this model.

    The GT86 was ridiculously over marketed at its time of release. Toyota's biggest press point for it was that it had one of the lowest CG in the market which was comparable to an unnamable premium sports car.

    Never mind the sounds that a flat engine makes. The virtue of the flat design is to provide a very low center of gravity

    Great looking car. The engine is shit. Boxers are great but that one is defective. You have to fix it when you buy it.

    More fun than your MX-5?

    • @MarekDrivesENG
      @MarekDrivesENG  Рік тому +1

      Different. I consider my MX-5 more of a short to medium distance road trip car, whereas I'd probably take the GR86 to track days, etc.
