FYI - if you want good picture quality, do not listen to the instructions, and set the video bit rate to the highest available setting. I don't know why he said to cap it at 4000, it doesn't work very well for 4k video. As soon as I set it to 8192kbps, the picture cleaned right up and looks gorgeous.
This is true, a higher bit rate will allow a slightly better picture quality but keep in mind, this will use space on your hard drive twice as fast. Generally, 4000 will get you a high quality picture, while taking minimal space on your hard drive but to each their own. (You'd be surprised at how many customers still use 1080p TVs and monitors with our 4K equipment)
@@MontavueSecurity Absolutely. The issue with the lower bit rate is, if you use the camera in anything other than direct sunlight or a well-lit studio, the image has ghosting and spotting, which is unacceptable. If you turn off the denoise setting, you can see how bad the picture really is. If there are complaints about the video quality, this is 100% the cause of them (I would have complained too). Of course, the argument for filling the hard drive quicker is to just get a larger hard drive, and eat the cost. For a 4k system, I think it's reasonable to expect 4TB or larger. Video is huge stuff. Just providing some honest feedback/advice! Hopefully it helps someone else down the road.
The CAT5E cable needs about 1/4 inch diameter hole in order to fit the RJ45 connector through, however, if you're making your own cable then the diameter shrinks considerably because you can connect the RJ45 after the cable is run through the wall.
Newb question, I've installed a couple j-box for swimming pool lights, isnt a jbox just a weather proof box to connect extension wire? I saw you had the camera on the jbox, we would never put the light directly on a jbox... also dosen't extending wire/cable beyond 10-50 feet degrade video resolution/quality? Getting ready to install soon thanks.
For most PoE cameras, there is a 'tail' which is where the PoE connection exists, this connection is not weatherproof and will kill the camera if too much moisture exists for too long. The Jbox protects this connection as well as the male end of your PoE cable that connects the camera back to the NVR or PoE switch. PoE cables can run up to 300 feet with no loss or degredation to the signal. Past the 300ft point, the power is unstable and you will experience connection issues. There are things like wireless bridges, PoE switches, PoE+ cameras, etc that can extend this distance. If you want more info about those you can call into our sales line and they can answer anything and everything about those products. Our number here is: (406) 272-3479
@@MontavueSecurity Ok thanks. I wanted to have in bedroom with regular 4k tv, but are there " hdmi splitters" so I can run to garage or another room(no delay like with wifi), does hdmi cables have any noticeable degradation with 50feet and longer?
I believe the standard maximum length for HDMI is about 75 feet. You should have 100% clarity of your image no matter if it's 7 feet or 75 feet but HDMI cables don't have the same distance capacity most other cables might have. They make wifi HDMI devices but they get expensive but you could look into that if needed. An HDMI Splitter would work fine with most scenarios like this, they're pretty easy to use.
The back of the camera opens up and the SD card slot is next to where the reset button is. Go to this link to see how to access that section of the camera: montavue.com/pages/helphq#/collection/2567/article/10623 The SD card slot is the small metallic square area just next to the reset button.
Hi Ronald! After looking at the Axis m3046 v2 4mm camera, it looks like it's a fairly standard IP PoE camera which means it should be compatable with our system. We can't 100% guarentee it will be, since the camera is from a 3rd party, but it would certainly be worth it to try. Some features like tripwires may not be available on that specific camera but you should be able to record video and even use motion detection features. Again, no promises, but it looks like it should work. -Payden
so why are you putting out a 4k UA-cam Video with a camera that looks worst than 720p? how is someone suppose to judge the quality of your system with such poor quality video?
This is a *tutorial* video, not a demonstration of the product for those that don't own it yet. The device that I use to record from the NVR's HDMI port can only output at 1080p. We have tons of demo videos on our youtube page that feature the full resolution quality of the camera. This video is for our users to install the system, not to advertise our high definition capability.
I really really appreciate you guys taking the time to do this video. Always very informative and so helpful thank you
Appreciate you guys and especially your customer service, just got a system can’t wait to set it up

Do we really need TV for that? Can I use a simple monitor?
Yes, you Can use thesimple monitor
Any monitor with an HDMI input would work.
what size diameter hole for drilling ceiling or on exterior soffit?
