  • The Edifier MR4 Studio Monitors are a budget set of near field studio monitors. They replaced my Edifier R1700BTs speakers I had previously, and have become a big piece of my 2022 desk setup. They don't have all the bells and whistles some other bookshelf speakers have like Bluetooth or a remote control, but can they compete in sound and other functionality? Watch for more.

    These look pretty nice for working with audio. I've been in a smaller space for the past year and had to sell my JBL monitors and have been using studio headphones, which have been good for mixing work and really focused critical listening, but do get uncomfortable after extended usage.

    I couldn’t agree more. Color may seem like a simple big decision factor, but it really is. Lately I have been trying to buy a new car and I have been very particular about it being black this time around. And I do believe depending on what shade of color you surround yourself with that will also greatly impact your space and your energy. I like these speakers a lot. I just might get them. But I will probably get the black ones. Thx.

    I was thinking of replacing them with these in order to have the empty desk by putting them on shelves on the sides of the monitor, the current ones are beasts and I can easily reproduce even 40hz thanks to their woofer so I'm curious to know if these here have a good acoustic performance maybe from 50hz up and especially if in studio mode the sound is flat. • @ImplosiveCatt
    @ImplosiveCatt 7 місяців тому +2

    These speakers are NOT for anyone looking for whatever but recorded sound. I hate the word "designed for" but there is a big difference between monitor speakers and others.
    Monitor speakers are really designed to reproduce the original sound as objective as possible. Their point by design is fidelity. Hear exactly what has been recorded.
    That's why if you're going to judge them, you can do it only against other MONITOR speakers.
    Not talking to you, Kyle. Just explaining things.

    Im testing these now, they are good value for money only really falling short in the clarity department for dialogue in movies with a lot of ambient sounds going on, then they tend to loose seperation and squash it all together making sounds that shouldn't be loud really noticeable. They are certainly better than most sound bars which have simply abysmal clarity usually and that white minimal look makes them pretty well the only option in the price range to suit your basic white modern apartment nowadays. If they only were a bit more powerful with a bit less distortion for a bit more money and took off the tacky name tag on the front they would make everything else even close to the price irrelevent but for pc use at 1 meter away there is a LOT worse on the market.

Will there be any difference if these speakers are connected to an external sound card such as the Creative Sound BlasterX G6 or to the built-in sound card in a laptop? Usually a high-quality sound card is advised for speakers with an optical input, but they are not here. These speakers also have their own ADC-DAC. And I don't understand if I need an external DAC or a sound card for my laptop.

    • @xvnbm
      @xvnbm 5 місяців тому

      I ended up buying Presonus Eris 4.5 BT, because of the larger size, looks and bluetooth option, so I am not limited with the wire, if I decide to go with smaller speakers at some point for my PC and use these elsewhere with my phone or something. When I first got them they sounded a bit aggressive compared to my previous speakers. I think I was kind of disappointed with the quality, I though that I could hear more difference to my old cheap pc speakers, but the main difference was this aggressive sound. They were not boomy though. Speech is really clear and it just gets better if you increase the volume, unlike with my previous speakers. For music, I think I would want more color to the sound somehow. Although, I am really inexperienced with speakers, so I didn't even know what to look for. I am not usually impressed by the speakers anyway. One thing I noticed is that I started to like the sound of my sony headphones more when I got these speakers. I was thinkin that could it be because I don't like the sound of these speakers as much I did like the sound of my previous speakers. Although, I got a newer version of bluetooth at the same time, that may have also made some difference. I think the speakers look good and I think I am kind of happy with my purchase. No hissing sound or anything like that. I wish I could compare them with other speakers, because I think that is the only way I could hear the difference. I am thinking, if I should have gone with eris E5, because my speaker stands have space for them also. But they are more expensive and I like to have the power switch in the front of the speaker. I eventually skipped edifiers, because I got a feeling that it may be even more over hyped than presonus. I would like to try edifier bookshelf speakers and compare, if thouse would give the color I may miss with these ones. They may become more boomy though. @@fiudad

At least mr4 provides a pretty decent hardware to begin with that no other product can give u in that price range ,and me personally don’t like using a total flat devise to monitor my work especially towards completing bc let’s be honest, how many flat studio devices u think the publics had? @@Hyperactivs i have both and i prefer the mr4's, their clarity is just on another level. however you'll be missing out on the r1280t's bass, not that the mr4's lacking, it just doesn't have that same punch. i actually did a sound test and with the mr4's you can start hearing sound at 30hz, and the r1280t at around 40hz. and although the mr4's doesn't vibrate through your table the way r1280t does, it actually sounds fuller. let's just say if you're more into gaming, go for r1280t, and if you want a higher quality all around speakers, go for the mr4's. btw, after using for sometime the mr4's, i tried using again the r1280t's but everything sounds muffled/dull, even the bass!
