Welcome to JAMAICA - one of my favorite countries in the Caribbean. This island is full of life, culture, beaches, and reggae music, and it makes for an excellent vacation destination... However, there's a darker side of Jamaica that exists among the local population. In recent years, the nation has emerged as one of the most dangerous in the Caribbean with gang violence and political turmoil in the slums areas. In this story, I went deep into a dangerous slum called Flankers in Jamaica's second-largest city (Montego Bay) to document street life and see what kind of people live there.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this story - does it change the way you see Jamaica? Let me know in the comments down below!

I made this video because I was curious about the real street life, far away from the tourist traps, and I’m really glad I did. Because the people everywhere in this country are amazing!!! 🇯🇲🙏🏼🔥

I HATE WHEN PEOPLE SAY NO ONE WILL BOTHER YOU1!! THAT IS NOT TRUE! Some men came in my yard in my gated community while my 2 year old was on the veranda, they walked straight into our yard off the street! they asked for money to buy a phone credit that evening our neighbour's house was broken into while she was not at home! a man was also shot in our gated community before we moved in (contracted killing ). Over 4 kids were killed at the start of the year by gun violence in Jamaica , while they were on their way to school in a taxi that got shot up... i guess all these victims are criminals! Jamaicans are not honest and it's so infuriating. THE COUNTRY IS NOT SAFE!!! YOU think people just going around making up how dangerous Jamaica is/

This may come as a surprise to many but I would have to rank the Russian people as some of the most hospitable. Many of the Jamaican people (and people of other countries) treated you well as long as you were spending money.
I can only assume that most Jamaicans are in contact with tourists more often than most Russians, Bulgarians, Togolese, etc.

I'm a born American who lived in Jamaica 20 years. I met my wife in Westmoreland and our 14 year old daughter and 9 year old son were born at Cornwall. At some point i was in Flanker every evening buying ganja and juice. If i did not show uo the Flanker people would call to check on me. Solid people there for sure. My family migrated to my home in America last year. I'm now worried about America and the violence there. For the most part Jamaica is a place where problems won't reach you if you are not living a street lifestyle. I actually knew my neighbors in Montego Bay and Kingston. We all looked out for each other always. Jamaica changed me for the better and i supposedly came from the best. I love the country and the people to death ! Big up every area, scheme and community island wide 💚🖤💛 ❣️

As a citizen of Jamaica 🇯🇲. Our country is very beautiful. It's true that there is crime and violence here and at times in some communities more than others. Everywhere in the world there is crime....it's just that it happens behind gated community with wall fence. Crime is crime behind zink or wall fence. Death is death. I have friends in flankers they are beautiful people inside out. The government in our country Can do better but the truth is they care more about themselves.
Its us as a individuals that should Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery as None but ourselves can free our mind.
The youth can be educated and learn skill in Jamaica however most of them dont because of wrong thinking and they lack motivation. Some of the youth does have good mom and dad but they dont listen. "Jamaica is a nice place fi live ".

I mainly stayed in the resort because I was a brand new traveller but I did get off the resort for a bit and was so surprised at how kind everyone was.
I felt this vibe the whole time on the island and every local I met solidified the vibes. They say Canadians are some of the nicest people on the planet, but as a Canadian, I think Jamaicans have us beat.

Jamaica is more than resorts or abject poverty. It’s unfortunate that Jamaica is always dichotomized in this way. There are many ways of life in Jamaica than just those two states. Also, Jamaicans have access to beaches, but it is true that preferred beaches may fall on privately owned resort property or have an entrance fee for the general public.

As a Jamaican, I agree. There is so much more to Jamaica than the two extremes… But it’s these extreme videos that get views and likes on UA-cam. They rarely show the middle or upper suburbs… always either the ghettos or the tourist areas. What they are pretty much saying is that, outside of tourism, Jamaica is just one big ghetto, which is so far from the truth. The ghettos are in the small minority… most Jamaicans I know have never even been to the ghettos… only see them on UA-cam. But let them carry on… most of us know the truth… let them continue to be entertained with the false narratives… entertainment at other people’s expense… that is the current state of the world, sadly.😢

I know that you already did one, but it was only about one little festival in the middle of nowhere, and I doubt that many people who don´t live in Slovakia, would be interested to see it. We have so much to offer, from lovely castles, through picturesque nature, mountains, well preserved towns with elegant, historical architecture, some of the most beautiful women, great food, beverages, and much more.
There is so much to see, discover, and explore him, but majority of travelers and travel agencies ignore us, just because our country is tiny in size. I´ve seen a number of your videos, and I know that you know that even in the smallest countries, you can find the greatest of hidden gems, and Slovakia isn´t different in this field.
I don´t want to force you into doing something you don´t desire to do, but I am just tired of people almost always turning a blind eye to my country, for being tiny in size, population, stereotypes, or not having a metropolois with at least 1 million inhabitants...

They’ll never show videos about all the old people in the United Kingdom, for instance, who are stuck in poverty for the longest now… Many of them can’t even afford heat during the brutally cold winters, and have to be frequenting the food banks... Or the pickpockets in places like Australia and Italy. They’ll never show that… It doesn’t align with their objectives. We are not stupid… We are wide awake now, and tired of the ish.

Haha your funny, a lot of Jamaicans go to Haiti when they are running from the law in Jamaica, some have even gotten in to problems over there, I remeber I story that came out where a wanted man from Jamaica was hiding in Haiti, so he sent his cousin or brother to go get some guns on a trip from Jamaica to Haiti , the Haitians killed him, the Jamaican that was on the run then went on a killing spree killing over 4 Haitians , then they eventually killed him also. Usually business go smoothly, because of mutual respect. please don’t do that, Jamaican do not fear people and we don’t compare I don’t get why people like to compare to us, Haiti is no joke but don’t compare. If you need me to I can definitely find the video, it’s on a channel called politriks watch, he covers a lot of the gang problems in Jamaica, that was more than two years ago, can tell you a similar story when the shower posie came to Miami and the Haitians robbed a couple of them in a drug deal, the tivoli man came back and killed 5 Haitians, the rumour was it was dudus.

@@beatrice123fulYou all keep saying the same thing, “keep Haiti out of your mouth,” when it was the UA-camr who brought Haiti into this. You all are attacking the wrong people. He was the one who used a picture from the conflict in Haiti to represent Jamaica, which is why Haiti came up. But I’m sure that is what the UA-camr intended… to stir up strife and attract views. Of all the pictures available online for Jamaica, he just had to use one from Haiti. He knew Jamaicans would immediately notice. SMH. One thing about Jamaicans, we were raised to mind our business. You all are coming for the wrong person… go and tell the UA-camr to leave Haiti out of it, just like Jamaicans are telling him to vamoose and leave our ghettos alone.
