In the early 90's when I was looking for a Masaru Kohno, I was offered Sakurai, because Kohno wasn't available at that time. It was regarded inferior and much cheaper in price. I didn't take the offer, and the guitar stayed there for a long time with no buyer. Finally, I got my Kohno, which I still have until now. The funny thing is, Sakurai has carved up its own destiny after the death of Masaru, and even the 1990 model has become famous now, as shown in this video.
Quite an excellent sounding guitar. The rosette and binding look like perhaps this Model Excellent evolved to eventually become the Masaki Sakurai Model PC. I own a Model PC and it is truly an excellent and lovely sounding guitar, and oh yes, I bought it from Siccas and they are lovely and excellent people! 👍😊❤
