That USAF jab hurt. I was a fuels technician and we were tough. Sometimes i would be sent out on the flighline for a refuel run and i would loose my spot to play 007 on the nintendo 64 or even worse my taco bell would get cold bc no food was allowed on the flighline. Yes, we too were tough in the USAF.

My son was just invited to the Raiders. I sure appreciate those who dedicate their lives to these groups. All who serve have my respect, but those in SF have a much higher appreciation for.

Great to see 2 old guys. Most SOF units currently have a "street-to-fleet" program to get new enlistees into the pipeline to bolster their units. Some good dudes came from these programs. But as an old guy, I think there is something missing from having trainees with time-in-service and experience in the pipeline. I had to have several deployments and experience in the infantry before Force Recon would even consider me for selection in the 80's. What a great time with a select group of talented, motivated adults with questionable social skills!

The SEAL attitude reminds me of "Alone at Dawn". Delta Force asked some SEALs for help doing recon stuff. The SEALs they got were completely uninterested in the mission and eventually left the team - they only wanted to do HVT stuff. Then Delta got another SEAL squad to help on a big mission, and said SEALs reported back to their command about all the cool stuff they were now doing. So of course SEAL command had to hijack the mission from Delta, and then caused everything on Takur Ghar to go down.
To answer your Air Force question, as of 2020 we enter an SWOE (special warfare open enlistment) yes you can go straight out of basic training. Once you make it through assessment and selection you sit down with the cadre and they tell you what career field suites you best. (PJ, CCT, TACP, SR)
As a young punk 18 year old in BUDs looking back now as a soon to be 48 year old retired former operator I will admit I was scared shitless. The thing that got to me was a instructor who made fun of me and laughed at me trying to make me give up and that is when I decided that he wasn't going to win and that I would never quit.

FYI... You can have a TACP, PJ, or CCT contract right out of basic. You don't have a fall back AFSC. If you wash out, they roll you back into a new job after the fact.

A lot of the CCT washouts end up being air traffic controllers. They have to go to ATC school right after basic. CCT tries to recruit people from the just ATC track to Join, they almost got me...

After I completed high school in 10th grade July 1994, I did a work study program for US DOT at UPS.
I am age 16 on my active 11-1-1994 DOT hazmat clearance I signed at UPS during active desert storm storm from Sean of US active reserve army at the time.
I went through a Temporary staffing company to work at UPS in 1994 just for the Christmas season and they offered me a job to keep me.
Because I was only 16 in 1994, I was considered an insurance liability at UPS, so I stayed under a staffing company to get paid and covered under their workers comp.
It was approved by UPS upper management.
That is how my DOT hazmat clearance was made possible at my age. 11-1-1994
UPS gave me my first scholarship of $5500 for me to take the CFR 49 test Mike DODD as well as every other tests from DOT. I scored 100% on the CFR 49 test.
I did a work study program for US DOT at UPS.
I received Many scholarships and I was selected for the peace treaty.
I was able to complete the 2 years work study program at UPS and became a doctor.
All the treaties I signed were sent to me from NATO 1994-6 to UPS 2730 Kirby ave Palm Bay FL 32950
I am 1995 DANGEROUS GOODS INTERANTIONAL
My first treaty was with Poland for Education
I received Fulbright scholarship from the US department of state the day after the date on my diploma and I joined an American Native tribe.
I signed treaties to end 4 fours. 1994-6
Bosnia , Grozny, Congo and active Desert Storm war.
I have No protection whatsoever from hostiles of active war. I have exhausted alll resources. The hostiles took me to court want proof.
I signed the 1995 In force WMD treaty and the 1995 Indefinite nuclear nonproliferation treaty

Green Berets have such a specialized job that comparing them to anybody is kind of silly. But Seals and Raiders? They're so similar I see why people want to compare them.

That’s cool that you can get a guaranteed shot at recon. When I was in it wasn’t standardized like that at all. It’d be announced at the end of a morning formation “ oh by the way Gunny so and so will be by tomorrow for anyone interested in trying out for recon” first test, tomorrow is Saturday. I guess for the guys that made it in shows just how much you want it. The thought of going through an Indoc, passing , and not getting called sometimes until... the next indoc, that was a good test of desire right there. I drank instead. Seriously though I have a lot of respect for all of you operators out there in any branch. It is awesome to see the Marines re-claiming that Raider title, They should’ve never disbanded those men in World War II.
Is indoc like a phase of training you to through? Can you pass it and still not get selected and or called?
@@PokeBruh_98 Well again I’m speaking of how it was years.......and years ago. I had a friend who had tried out for what was at the time 1st Force Recon and it was I think his second time. Now it’s been a long time since then but if I remember correctly he had tried out again sometime after . I went to a different unit and I never saw him after that. I knew of one other marine with a similar story , that marine actual did leave our platoon after getting accepted. I guess what stuck in my mind was the fact that these guys were stellar , 1 st class PFT scores etc etc and ( unless they weren’t truthful) did well and were told or given a positive response to their effort after their “indoc” or tryout something like alright we’ll contact you or whatever , words like that and then a deployment goes by and nothing. I have never been in force recon so I have no idea now nor then if that was an official way of doing things or if it was just bad luck for those guys and that they already had enough members in those recon units that they were just testing prospects I have no clue. My point is it wasn’t very regimented, the process of selection, it seemed. As far as I know in those days you couldn’t let’s say enlist in the Marine Corps and say hey I want to be in force recon or hey I want to be a sniper and have your recruiter guarantee you a “chance“ at trying out for either of those. They would say your best way is to go infantry and they hold tryouts etc. I believe in the army at that time you could do just that say you wanted to be a Ranger and be guaranteed a chance keyword chance if you failed oh I guess they would rotate you back to your mother unit or whatever but it was more I guess again the word is regimented. I do not approve of the changes the Marine Corps has made in light of recent political events but I heard about the Raiders and their training regimen and I heard about the process of selection being more regimented and thought that was a good thing. Because another big problem was that if you had a seargeant liked you or you were a good Marine they did not want to approve of your leaving for another unit Basically they didn’t wanna give you up because you were squared away .From what I understand this new process would eliminate that sort of thing. Having said all that and don’t laugh ,I guess the old way of doing it WOULD ensure that the candidates who DID make it absolutely deserved to be there I mean you can slip through once but two and three times Jesus ha ha. Anyway again all of these types of units are -,well to me anyway -,on a different level to say the least. Sorry to ramble on.
IN 1974 AFTER I COMPLETED USAF BASIC TRAINING AT LACKLAND, A RAN INTO A GUY FROM OUR SISTER FLIGHT WHO WAS BEGINNING PJ OR PARA RESCUE TRAINING. HE TOLD ME ALL THE TECH SCHOOL TRAINING HE HAD TO DO JUST IN THE FIRST YEAR.

I was in the marines from. 09-13 I'm a 3531 motor T operator and I spent 2 years with 3rd recon and 2 years with 2nd marsoc and loved every second of it. If I could go back I would go to recon school cause training with those guys was amazing... as a motor t operator i always went out to the field with the team guys for training and 99% of the other motor t guys would just sleep in their HMMWVs while i would actually go out and do the training with them because i wanted to learn as much as possible from the teams and the force teams. Cause I figured if I were to deploy it would be with them and learning their SOP could be very important. I ended up leaving 3rd with a cert com for all the good training we did. Camp schwab was beautiful and having our barracks right on the beach well you couldn't beat that. I learned alot from recon especially real leadership skills never above you never below you but right beside you!!! As far as marsoc goes well it wasnt as good of an experience they didnt place me with the team guys they placed me in logistics battalion in support of the selection school for marsoc. I tried transferring to the teams but they didnt allow it for some reason even though I had years of experience with team guys and had over 5 different nco and snco billets under my belt at just a lcpl because when I went to 3rd they had just deployed and I was part of the RBE which left only 2 mechs and 4 operators in the motor pool so as a Pfc and lcpl we had to do the work of ncos I was chief dispatch and line nco I also took care of hazmat and was in charge of training the recon teams on their 7ton and hmmwv licensing. I never knew how good I was at logistics until i went to 3rd recon and i wouldnt trade those experiences for the world they taught me so many tactical ways to shoot my rifle and quick tactical reloads while on the move as well as pistol qual and amphibious operations. Like I said I did every training I could with them I was with force recon Aco. On camp hansen for their sniper mount town course and learned what they were. I was there to supply the ammo but ended up getting extremely good training in the process. I earned the respect of the team guys and had permission to wear the black silkies which is a high honor if you know about the recon community not everyone attached to recon could wear those unless you wanted to be hazed on the beach at 2am by one of the companies that caught you wearing them without permission. That's how I spent my 20s was with spec ops of the marine corps I was never in a normal unit and would have hated life if I was. Had a low red gunny rolls and my boot blouses were at my ankles . Loved it all!! When I left 3rd recon the supply guy lost the paperwork so I was able to keep my recon rig and my mich helmet which i still have to this day still kitted how I had it when I was in I just dont have the sappie plates that go in it

I heard on a former navy seals runner podcast that they get their tridents when finishing all the training and being selected but they get taken away when you go into a team and you have to re-earn it by proving to the rest that you deserve it.
Also Air Force operators do get contracts for people wanting to sign up to try out for special operations of all PJ, reconnaissance, CCT, and TACP
Someone explain to me why a guy interested in being an operator...would choose Air Force. !! Purely ignorant question, no disrespect intended !!
@@donnhughes7139 dude Air Force special operators are top notch with CCT, Pararescue PJ, special reconnaissance, and TACP some of the best highly trained operators in medical, communication, reconnaissance, and air support on the battlefield with direct action training, dive school, and HALO school for many.

Being a Marine (2531) Comm having attended Staff Planning School at Coronado in the mid 1980’s …. I must confess that Delta is one of the baddest organizations I’ve ever worked with while TAD to S2 & G2 shops as a cryptologist. Delta from what I understood selected from operators from all Tear 2 and other Spec Ops communities, and ergo were exclusively a Tier One organization and were and still are at the pinnacle of the Triangle!

Not to be praised, but I can personally relate to not lasting due to personality...I did 8 years as an Army Civil Affairs Operator...I was a well loved Soldier but had too many internal issues and attitudal adjustments going on that didn't mix well operationally...truly some of the most incredible times and worst times of my life but I don't regret it because I grew up a lot from everything that came with that path...good and bad...#SecureTheVictory 🤙🏾

Do you guys think they should do a documentary on the MARSOC selection process like they do with BUDS, SF, Recon, PJ, etc.. to kind of give civilians a perspective or do you think they shouldnt?
I might not be right here but I think Raiders are considered tier one, their selection needs to remain secret just like Devgru and Delta. Recon, regular seals etc arent as secret so they can show more of their training

Theres a slim chance of them actually being officially turned up to tier one though, seeing as the marines are pretty much constantly fucked in the ass by the new sgt major and the DoD
@@TopMep what military analysts are you speaking of because in reality Marsoc hasn’t seen any real action since around 2013 and they don’t receive nearly enough funding to be considered tier one thats not saying they aren’t one of the most elite fighting forces on the planet because they are but when it comes to the political side of it Marsoc is unfortunately on the not so good side
Air Force Special Warfare currently has what they are calling a SWOE-V (Special Warfare Operator Enlistment Vectoring) contracts. Essentially, you start "development" with a special warfare recruiter and when he thinks you are physically and mentally capable of getting selected he can give you a slot/ship date with that contract, which is the same for CCT, PJ and the new SR (special reconnaissance). (TACP, EOD, and SERE also work with these recruiters, but they get different contracts as far as I know).
When you get your contract you go to basic, then SW prep, then to Assessment and Selection. If you get selected you will be assigned to one of the three jobs (CCT, PJ, or SR - I've heard people pretty much get their preference). After that everyone goes to dive, jump, and free fall schools then they break off into their individual training schools. After completing the two year training pipeline you get your beret and get your first station assignment.

You also have to think that all these guys are studs as well
BUDS completion rates are a bit dishonestly calculated.
Because they neglect to count people who rolled in from prior classes.
And they don't factor the people who started with that class but rolled back to a later class and graduated there.
The stats for BUDS completion should more accurately be called "Class completion rate for students graduating without rolling back"
Rollbacks account for a significant percent of BUDS graduates. Ignoring them leads to skewed statistics.

back in '85 there was a Indoc Recon option, but you had to pass stringent PT and personality tests to qualify....

I always saw Clint in this videos and noticed that he is such a cool guy! And have to admit I thought to myself, that's some how out of the ordinary for navy seal guys; not that I'm saying they're mean,but you know, he seems a very cool guy! Until this video i understands! He said he was a Corpsman! Or Medic for us in the ARMY, then I understood! Cause, I have not meet a Medic or Corpsman for the NAVY that was not a cool,caring, everybody's friend! Not even one! I guess the recruiters are doing a good job looking for those guys whom got that attitude! That's great Cause it relieved you knowing you got a caring brother looking for your health out there! Hell! Even if you going to die, it's wonderful to have a brother to help you in your goodbye transition!

for afsoc u can sign as an open contract and they will essentially see which of the 3 sof operator jobs you fit best with but most of those guys don't make it unless they're prior service or studs

It seems the citizenry of the US have been told if it's not the SEALs there is nothing. I was in the Corps from 1963-1967 after I left I learned how to Scuba dive. My instructor was a Navy frogman or UDT, Underwater Dive Team. Navy Frogmen are of course what we know as the SEALs today. In those days, Force Recon trained with the SEALs at the Navy facilities. My dive instructor a, UDT or SEAL team member, had this to say about Force Recon, "Force Recon guys are hardcore, before we (i.e., SEALs) come out to train the Marines have run to our facility and have been doing PT (i.e., calisthenics) for an hour before we trained together".
Float with it so riptide EBT swim sideways. No EBT earn your money. I suck at that I needed a lot of help. Anyway riptide and ebbtide. All I know is that if you swim out into the ocean from the beach and you start getting pulled out swim parallel to the beach to get out of the riptide. And I would suppose the ebb tide would be the incoming and or high water mark as it goes. Eventually!
