Great vid. Could you speak about the Kenworth EPU system, please? Also, a fleet I worked for (and several of its O/O’s) bought early-twenty-teens PACCAR engines and the after treatment was so problematic they had to take the risk and bypass the systems to have any uptime. What has PACCAR done to improve this? Could you make a video with a mechanic with service rep. I drove a Carhauler for Moore Transport of Tulsa with PACCAR drive train a few years ago and it had great power and the smoothest auto shifting had ever and have yet to experience. @@KenworthofRichfield oh I see. We got a bit similar thing here. There's usually a mirror on passenger side door angled down to show what's right next to you. Thats exactly like mine. It a 2015. No rear window though. Look ive driven both manual an auto shift. I absolutely hate the auto shift. At 455k ive had no engine problems. In the shop now for rear torque rod bushings. Its been a awesome truck. No complaints. My last one will be a t680 with mx 13 510hp with manual 13 speed. Im waiting to see how bad Biden screws up economics.
Unfortunately not Anthony. We've got the MX13 and MX11 though, both of which are great alternatives. The 11 is definitely an interesting one if you're weight conscious and don't need bit horsepower.
Get rid of the Chrome including the steel front bumper and add a Rig Guard 2400 to protect that expensive air to air, radiator and front of the engine from big game. Chop it to a mid roof. Get rid of the rear window and put a work box/headache rack on it with a light bar on top of it. (Outside storage, some O/O's need it. Get rid of that attention deficit disorder collision litigation system and put forward looking and side view cameras in it for "in the event of" incidents. The full getting steps are cute, Step/STORAGE box is USEFUL. Full fenders, minimizers minimize lack of visibility in the side view mirrors for those rainy/snowy days. Gear it at 2.64 for mileage. Excellent tractor but I've only got about 415,000 miles in one or two and a loaner for a few weeks! Is that a stack exhaust over ground exhaust? Needs an APU and auxiliary heat over a woofer! What about adding a polished guard in addition to the bumper? We can order a mid roof What about a headache rack with a cutout for the window? We can get it otherwise with no problems. We can add an apu. I believe both seats are heated. passenger seat was a swivel, I just didn't mention it. :D
The rear window "cutout" rack is readily available. Not sure why you need it. Some say it makes it easier for them to back, ok, so does getting out and looking. I'd take the storage space. T-680 is an awesome tractor. The whole *80 design is awesome. Best thing that ever happened to the 900 series. Ever going to the 5 piece hood on the 680? Not only does it save in repairs, shipping cost to! Now PACCAR just needs to build an 18 speed automatic, not that anyone wants to see Eaton Fuller go out of business. And yes, I understand you can order tractors, been waiting for some answers from a PACCAR appointed "salesman" that keeps telling me what I want. Never could understand that sales approach!
And that steel bumper is heavy, so painted mylar, being lighter let's 85 pounds of aluminum Rig Guard be added without adding much over all in comparison to steel bumper and guard.
You mentioned fuel mileage. Quick guess (or maybe an idea for a video) same engine, trans, gears, etc; what would the difference in mileage be between a T680, W990, and a W900?
I'd love to, but data from stuff like that is always flawed. Wind, load, traffic, so many other variables can't be considered in that. If fuel mileage is a question at all.....the T680 is by far the way to go.
Honestly, I'm not sure on that. Leasing is a whole different world that I didn't necessarily work in even when I was in sales. I'd give the Columbus office a call on it and talk to one of the salesmen there. They'll have better information on it. 1-800-589-9400
👍😉. Yep T680 for an aero truck. 👍😉 do you know shifting when pulling a liquid shotgun tanker to shift with the liquid. ? How would an automated transmission work on that? ?
They actually have programming that helps to smooth things out for tankers. We can make sure that we help you to get that in the truck before you take delivery :D
I'm sure the automated transmission would learn the ins and outs of shifting liquid tankers after a bit of operating I know that heavy duty pickups transmissions learn a driving style of the operator so I'm sure that these automated transmissions in class 8 trucks would do something similar.
Im old school also and have driven automatics with and without a clutch but I believe that these new automatic not manuals with addons aka AMTs are much better than those of just a few years ago and I am seriously thinking of going with the new endurant xd when they come out with it next year 2021. Im just sick of clutching all the time and my left leg and hip will thank me for loosing the clutch LOL.
yes and no. In the smaller engines like the PX7 and PX9, that's true. As far as the MX11 and the MX13 engines, they don't really have anything in common with the Cummins. Those engines were designed and built by Paccar.
For flatbed operators,, it is a security issue, to be able to quickly observe the load from the cab rear window, should there be mischief about. Especially if the cargo is sensitive, expensive !!

Taking back what Freightliner has been talking shit about king of the road. I know that you like the pink red, too soft a color for me and so I would custom color that type of truck to suit my attitude with the charcoal gray and chrome. I assume that full meals can be made back there and truthfully most frozen dinners are quality dinners now. I have a few million miles behind me and fully retired but not parked so I might just roll town to town with a enclosed step trailer for my car to house in. I like the visors much to much to not have one installed and the steps are nice but a power step is a bit nicer on this seventy three year body. I think that those skirts are nice but do they open up to see what is back there and how things are doing? Kinda hate hiding stuff and that is going to take getting used to. I have seen so many things put at arms reach over the head of the driver anymore that it would be hard to not clutter it in short hurry. I believe that eighteen hundred foot pounds of torque should be equivalent to going through a line of defense football players and your the only one on your team... impossible to find where that is not enough. I have had more but stuff breaks after a certain point and that is not when the fun begins... kinda like when all hell breaks loose.
@@KenworthofRichfield I stepped out of the cab for the last time in 95 and took the easy way out as moving the heavy towers on the pipeline just took me to tired all the time when the loads are forty feet in the air and every pebble that you drive over feels like a loading ramp.
Not a real fan of cummins or paccar engines but my choice would be the cummins because you can actually change perimeters on them if you have your own computer and cummins software. Paccar is the only one who can change or delete any codes or warnings. Plus you can go to any diesel shop and they will be able to do what ever you need with a cummins not so much with a paccar. I have been driving a T660 with a 430hp paccar engine in it and its the biggest piece of garbage gutless engine I have ever driven other than a 300hp 7 speed mack. Paccar needs to get their heads out of their rear ends before they alienate their loyal customers. I also hate where they put the hand brake on their new cabs t680s t880s and w990s. Its really useless where its at should have left it as a hand valve on the column especially for us guys that use it every day to slide trailer tandems or spread apart trailers. How its setup and the shape of it makes it almost useless. I used to think that freightliners valve on the dash was stupid but its way better than what kw did. Not sure what kind of steering wheel holders they are talking to to get their setups in their cabs figured out but for us guys that have been doing this for 3 decades or more they are making some silly designs that's for sure. Dont get me wrong I like the new roomier cab designs but they have made some of the things that many drivers use daily harder to use now.
What is with the top bunk being so low. If I have a passenger n want to sit up n watch TV fuck that you could break a neck. I really can't comprehend the stupidity. I hate international but the top bunk i can sit and not break my neck plus under storage. Kenworth needs to ask drivers before making decisions. It's very obvious that truck was built for a midget. No way I could sit up in that. Maybe its just me.
The reason why you don't want fendermirrors? Because they're ugly as sin... I'd rather pay more to have a good set of cameras to cover the blind spots than have these weird looking stalks on the fenders.

Hood mirrors are NOT silly.
@@billupstateny9151 we don't use them in Australia don't see them on a road Train with 3 or 4 trailers
I get it....but I'm ugly and you still managed to watch the video long enough to see those.....so maybe they aren't that bad. LOL
@@KenworthofRichfield great response . You got me 😆 The mirrors are still ugly though.
Automatic? LOL LAME
The hood mirrors don’t “look good”!
It's all relative. :D
Yawn....
Should I bring coffee to the next one?
