Wow in that opening verse (and a later one) Ryan really nails the original sound-feel of Elton's voice on the original, but makes it his own too. Never ceases to amaze me.
Elton John credits Ryan Adams for making him (Elton) start writing songs again. Elton had stopped writing songs and then he heard some of Ryan Adams' music and loved Ryan's stuff.
@@georgebush2821 By your logic neither one of them were songwriters, because Taupin doesn't write music. So - if neither one of them were songwriters...who wrote the songs?
@@georgebush2821 Gotcha. You're right, "Tiny Dancer" would have been a hit song if Taupin had simply read his poem into a microphone. Taupin is a LYRICIST - he's not a songwriter. The person who only writes the words is called a lyricist. A *lyricist* or *poet* is not a songwriter unless they also write the MUSIC. Understand the difference? It took BOTH of them to write the *songs*. This is not a complicated concept.
You probably dont care but if you guys are stoned like me atm then you can watch pretty much all of the latest series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my gf for the last few days =)
I was getting the Christmas tree down from the attic last week, and while I was up there,I stumbled upon a large pile of Uncut(British music)magazines.A 2001 issue had a long article about Ryan Adams.Having bought "Gold" when it came out,I'd sort of forgotten about him,but that article reminded me how utterly fantastic this guy is.
Heard him for the first time recently. The self titled album. Found out he has put out 49 albums before this. Looking forward to working through the back collection. What a sound!
+Edel Taylor Me too! Just got into his new Taylor Swift "1989" cover album, which I really love, and thought he was some young buck singer-songwriter with supernatural levels of musical ability and soul. Come to find out he's a few years older than me and has been popular for more than 20 years. Yikes.
+Edel Taylor Just wait until you get back to his early stuff with Whiskeytown. The kids been a genius since high school. As a bonus, they recently remastered the albums "Faithless Street" and "Strangers Almanac". with several new additions. Enjoy and welcome to the club! :)
Ryan Adams is okay; he has a handful of really good songs but is definitely one of those musicians who considers himself an art-eest and is an insufferable ass. I am confused why he had the majority of the singing parts as he is nothing compared to Elton John in terms of record sales, prolific songs, and raw/relateable talent. I would have loved to hear more of a true CMT Crossroads duet than this song ended up becoming.
God Ryan Adams is the only person that can make any song unbelievable 🔥🔥🔥🙏✌️
Ryan nailed this....

Ryan's awesome.
I absolutely LOVE Ryan Adams and have loved him ever since his Whiskeytown days.
If you are under 18 he might love you too
man, i love these two men.. possibly even moreso together
That song just stops time
lush song, these two are really good together
A match made in heaven

Elton doesn't write songs. He hasn't written a single hit song. amazing and talented artist, but he is not a songwriter

What magazine was it and what was the title of the article? :-). Just out of curiousity.
Hi Torben, the magazine was the February 2002 issue of Uncut ,it's a well written/researched British music magazine.

Holy Shit can RA nail it. The tone is so close. Is there a live video of this?
I wrote all the storylines for ‘diving board’ …how do those compare w/Tiny Dancer..?

Ryan does a great job...wish the other guy would just stick to playing the piano 😉
