One of my biggest issues with NFS Heat is the treatment of the cover car. They deadass signed a 1 year exlcusivity deal with Polestar for it to be in the game only for 5 minutes in, the car is in the water lol. It would've made 100000x more sense if Mercer popped out with the Polestar instead of the BMW. Would've made the Polestar more memorable too. On top of that, it wasn't even in the game as a buyable car Day 1. They added it in a patch, and then it might just be one of the slowest cars ever.
The way they treated the Polestar 1 is bizarre. Like imagine in Most Wanted, you progress up the blacklist only for the game to tell you that Razor returned back to his Mustang, tuned it with junkman parts and scraped the M3, meaning you won't be able to drive it again.
that's exactly what i thought too, would be better if Mercer popped out with a Polestar 1 Hero Edition instead of a M3 GTR at the last part where we get to chase him lmao
What I think is strange in the newer versions of NFS is them desperately wanting to tell an elaborate story when older games like NFS:MW or Burnout Paradise have shown that just having a goal to reach at the end is enough. Most Want was literally just “here is a list, get to the top and your car back”.
and the story itself being hit & miss at best, with Payback basically feels like a straight to Amazon Fast & Furious wannabe that makes Steven Seagal movies looked like Emmy Award winning masterpieces by comparison
And with heat and unbound feeling similar to each other with two female "friends" who did a major bad thing to someone they care about and act very antagonistic and towards the end have a extremely short redemption arc that feels so force in that it didn't redeem them both and they don't deserve sympathy and should stick to being antagonistic. Fuck anna and fuck that other girl in unbound that i forget because she just felt forgettable.
And the faact that in most wanted you wanted to get your car back because u got to drive it for couple races that was the only main thing in the story everything else was skippable
Yea it was weird this game came out for a short span and they killed it off so quickly it was left to rot for while till unite team brought it from the dead
It is and should been but of course EA being EA (as well as there whole no one wants single player games stick) had to come in and kill the game before it even got improvements

Like it’s still crazy to me how much potential Heat had. Daytime could’ve more events like Speedtraps, Lap Knockout, Sector Shootout and for nighttime a hard difficulty with more roadblocks, spikestrips, Heat levels per vehicle, and impound strikes. Also the Polestar 1 should’ve been Lucas secret car or the car Mercer’s was driving out the container.
Loved Heat in spite of it being fairly soulless. It was the best offering of the Ghost era, didn't have any funky DLC plan, and had a unique mechanic with the day/night thing.
oh they did have a DLC plan, but it got thrown out of the window when EA disbanded Ghost. Many cars and their bodykits you see in unbound were actually suppoused to be added to Heat.

Well for anna she may had posted her face and license plate on the cars that would done it. Rule for that is simple. If you doing illegal acts. Quit posting things that can lead to identifying you to the crime. Still pissed about the game rewarding anna with the camero after she stole it and trashed it as well as blaming her brother over it. I honestly wonder why the game made us friends with that girl in first place i would go in defense for her brother for wrecking that ride and being a cocky narcissist c word.
@@evandaymon8303 NFS always had cringe worthy storylines, maybe only NFS Porsche Unleashed is the less childish nfs, as you can play either a bunch of car generations OR play a Porsche employee's 'under the rug' competition
i remember making a reddit headcannon (if thats the right term). ahem, as from what i've said... "what if mercer was sending the cars and parts off to the collector in payback?" To me, makes sense as the collector wants as much cars, fairly or very unfairly. so unfairly he'd have people on a payroll. this could be something, or i have a fuel leak in the house. probably both
In another video I heard someone saying that "Need for Speed Heat was a love letter from the series" and it is so true. Aside from the soundtrack the lighting during the night time is crazy good and the loading menus are just immaculate. It is really one of the best addition in the series. Love your video man, keep up the good work !
I miss the days of your car not having a health bar. Cops were challenging in MW and Carbon because they would simply try and overwhelm you. You could battle them, ram them and take them out one at a time or use the various pursuit breakers to take out multiple cops at a time. Now if you try and trade paint with a crown Vic, they take no damage and you lose a quarter of your health bar. It just makes you want to not engage with them not because they’re scary, but more because it’s just a chore
Tbf, it kinda makes sense tho. Cop cars are gonna be more tough and resistant to damage. That's why you have to rely on speed to escape. Besides, it's technically more realistic too. Let's say you are escaping from the cops irl, you are NOT gonna be tryna trade paint with them mfers, lol... Hot Pursuit 2 had the most craziest cops though. Have helicopters shooting missiles or dropping bombs, I think, lmao
I always felt that the new Need For Speed (reboot) games should've gone more for a midnight club LA aesthetic and story with the driving of a simcade, such as Gran Turismo. NFS always could've been the customizable car Simcade. Like maybe less cars, with more customization, like maybe you can buy a silvia/180sx, and turn it into multiple variations or somewhat different body-styles like Sil-80s or S15.5s, giving more reasons to acquire multiple of the same cars. Imagine a NFS where it has the driving physics of a Codemasters game, I think it could be amazing.
@@amadreal1984 The only reason NightRunners might not is because it (seems) to only focus on freeways for races, somewhat like Tokyo Xtreme Racer on PS2. However I might be wrong and it has city racing too, but alas I have not payed too much attention to if it has that sort of street racing. I do like what Touge Attack shows in it's trailers, but it focuses on Japanese style Touge downhill races, not typical city racing.
@@TheCapitalWanderer I can understand that. Gran Turismo 7 if it was released on PC and was able to be modded to be more arcade inspired, it could fit that role nicely. Maybe the new test drive unlimited could be what you are looking for? if it comes out any good that is.
To me, the only crime they did is how EA treat this game. Ghost Games could've thought about more new contents, updates and fixes for HEAT but EA didn't want that and literally killed Ghost just to have more people working on their newest Battlefield game. HEAT basically dead on arrival. The funniest part is that HEAT did better on reviews than the new Battlefield.
Heat had great potential but failed because EA is delusional and greedy for money. Developer ghost games HAD plans for nfsheat but couldn’t due to EA’s sorry obnoxious way of always putting the dollar over the customers
No wonder the world map feels a bit off. In the east there's a bridge that connects but i've never see it used. In the north, full mapped but can't be reached.
I like how heat did its own thing, it didnt try to chase trends or worry about selling to the masses it just did what they set out to do. I think its a really good modern take on the franchise
I don't think so. Nfs heats best ideas come from rivals. Rivals is a better version of hotpursuit 2010. And the development time for rivals was less than a year. Nfs heat = nfs rivals + more grind - cop career - pursuit tech + customisation.
@@dr.sivavignesh664admittedly, I never played the games with playable cops. Jumped from carbon to nfs payback since I never had a console so i’ve had a very distorted view of the series as a whole…
@@Iwatoda_Dorm that's unfortunate. Because payback has some of the worst systems in place. No free roam cops, aggressive rubberbanding ( put on hard and the game becomes unbeatable) , luck based rng card part progression , cars tied to their types ( you can only buy the same car again if you wanted to change the drift build to race ) , unnecessary story and cutscene centric set pieces ( instead of you doing the cool stuff they just ask you to drive to a certain part and show you a video of something cool ). Nfs carbon is way cooler. It had a buddy command system if I'm right. The intense canyon races , pink slip races, area control mechanics , free roam cops. I don't have any negatives to say about that game besides the fact that it's only night setting. Nfs hotpursuit 2010 is a great game, run was too short and forgettable with bits of the game being great, shift games were basically grid / simcade games with nfs titles, most wanted 2012 was basically burnout without car damage , nfs 2015 reboot is a severely lacking game, nfs unbound is just metal gear solid with cars.
@@dr.sivavignesh664 while I agree Rivals was a fun game focused on cops, The only times I felt there was high stakes were during the grand touring races. Apart from that, the game was pretty chill. In Heat, they established a proper system for progression by the day night cycle. The high stakes were are also real this time during the night time throught the ultimate parts system. I do like both. I think Rivals did cops better but one is a supercar racer game and other is a street scene focused game.
@@Peaceiscoming669 rivals was definitely harder. Stakes are high in nfs heat because you defenceless. And you have to get your part to the safehouse. In rivals , even with your arsenal of pursuit tech you can get wrecked in a matter of seconds. The problem with heat is that it mandates a lot of foreplay like stuff. Heat races are great . But you have to go get yourself into something to get to heat 3 or 5. By the time you get there the even would be on the opposite side of the map. Getting there is a grind, and initiating the event itself feels like a problem. The actual challenge is the race ( high heat ) and the part that you have to get back to your garage. But to get to the challenge you are made to do a lot of chores. First couple of times are fine. After a while it's just grind. Making money in game is also a grind. You have to repeat the same 4 50k races to get cash fast. While the whole inGame economy is overpriced ( compared to what you earn ).
I feel like Ghost was on the right track, they were engaging with the community on what we wanted in the game. I remember it was compiled into a table of contents report and when presented to EA, they just told Ghost, nope and that was it. The only thing that has saved Heat up to this point is the modding community. UNITE and reckless reborn have brought back my love for this game with way better pre-nerfed, intense pursuits and added cop cars which keeps me coming back to risk it all. Praise the modders for doing what EA/Criterion wont do.
Well i think you wrong now because criterion in march gonna bring back nfs u1 drift and drag. nfs hot pursuit cop vs races event and they gonna bring bacl audi.
@@bigsmoke5814 i hope those events also impacted singleplayer, i play NFS games for its singleplayer, wouldve sucked if Drag didnt got into Singleplayer, also Cops v Racer is always welcome in my eyes, just hope it got into singleplayer too.
The NFS fandom is one of those “impossible” to please IPs. So often they get compared to Most Wanted and underground. People just end up no realizing the good in these new releases until it’s years later. I enjoy every entry that comes out. I’ve been playing NFS since the late 90s.
Yea all i see is circle jerk of "oooooo we need most wanted back oooo we need underground back fuck these new games fuck everyone who loves them ooooo" And when they do get those games remade or remastered or whatever the fuck they want they will be like "oooh this isn't what we want this is shit where insert car here where insert music here where so and so feature here etc" like this fandom has a problem with nostalgia and sticking to the past. I love those games too but i am not going to pretend they were flawless. If these games get remake they wont be exactly how they imagined them being same game but better they cant get the same ol cars from past licensing is a bitch. They cant perfect the games the way they want it and it's something we need let go. Let them do the games however they want. Being stuck in the past wont do shit it just going to make game's difficult Especially for crowd who cry like babies when game isn't ultra hyper realistic i want gas stations to fuel cars i want realistic damage i want my car to realistically fall apart i want realistic tuning i want everything to be real life. Then fuckin become a real race car driver and shut up.
Remember the time that nfs the run and rivals came out. people hate it( the run deserves hate in some cases like the price short stry) but know people switch sides and saying those game are great. And some people also hated unbound and its artstyle when it came out. but now i saw 10 to 20 comments one videos people saying the art style actually great and they were wrong about unbound.
I genuinely believe that Heat the devs didn’t have enough time/resources, or Upper management mishandled the resources. EA was pretty hands off with ghost games, so I’ve always wondered why their games always felt underdeveloped compared to black box.
The biggest problem is that they keep making new maps too. The Black Box games reused the maps from time to time which made the games easier to develop. This also gave them more time to focus on other stuff.
Lol you haven't played Rivals. Those cops got the real balls. I find it strange for someone to say that NFS is an alternative to Forza. Lol. As someone who started playing NFS Porsche Unleashed and the OG Hot Pursuit, the concept of Forza Horizon, where you run a music festival and just collect cars, is incredibly tame, and, feels like it's made for kids. It doesn't have the grit and risk and aggressiveness of Need For Speed. Forza is my alternative to NFS, when i need to have a chill drive without cops bothering me lol. But NFS is where the real gameplay is. Nothing gets andrenaline pumped up like NFS cop chases. Well i guess my age really is showing lol.
@@GoldenEDM_2018Rivals has advantage because of fast cop cars and weapons, otherwise they don't have anything special to write on. Heat cops don't have any of those. Neither fast cars, nor weapons. Heat cops still are damn hard, despite nerfing them TWICE!. Also Heat cops can take you out very easily. In short, Heat>Rivals, despite plating Rivals on PS4 before many times, before Rivals became boring soon.
2015-unbound are literally the same games with same stories but different details and varying art style changes. they still use the same car customization menu from almost a decade ago and their car list has remained relatively the same especially with starter and lower class vehicles. it's literally the definition of an EA game, $70 for a new release with 90% of the same content of the previous one but just up to date vehicles or sports rosters. there is reason the amount of people playing unbound regularly dropped significantly after one month, because PEOPLE ARE BORED
25:40 finally someone said it, that car is so overused and there is a ton of cool, one of a kind, real life cars just like the m3 gtr that they can use, example: the RTR-X, Mad Mike's RX7 from shift 2, the r34/r35 GTR GT500, Chris Rado's Sciont tC from shift 2 and the Z4 from shift 2
Honestly there's no other NFS title that I still log and drive in as often as Heat. The Vibe is unmatched IMO. I even love the soundtrack (a very minority opinion). If it had a slightly better penned story and more realistic physics it'd be in my all time favs.... as it is, it's very close.
Palm City is apparently big enough to have skyscrapers and what looks like it should be a bustling downtown district but no surrounding suburbs. The whole county is just one coastal city and then farmland surrounding. Also, I feel like a lot of NFS maps have been really similar lately. The coast is always on the right side of the map.
The worst thing is in this game I think is that with almost every great feature, there's a catch. Cop chases are fun, but you can't fight back. Brake to drift is great here, but after a certain speed the car will be almost uncontrollable. The car performance tuning allows large variation, but it's used in a bit shallow races. Also, bring back Autosculpt!
Always found Autosculpt an overrated feature in every game besides Carbon (and even there, restricting adjustments to hiring two wingmen was a weird design choice), but that's probably because the individual parts themselves lacked variation.
Tbh, after a high amount of speed, any car will be uncontrollable. That "wiggle" you feel when you drive over 120 MPH can be pretty scary. If you played any of the Shift games, they do a good job at replicating that feeling.
My two main gripes with this game are definitely the map and story. I always liked the need for speeds with a varied environment like Redview County or Payback's Fortune Valley so Heat's while vibrant world (mostly) just occupies a space in my head where it just exists for the sake of it. The story also fills that same void to as bad as Payback's story was at least the main missions were replayable and there were just more things to do event wise with a fun selection of characters minus Tyler. This is truly one of the Need for speed Heat's of all time
My favorite map is 2015. The only problem was the underutilization of different parts of the map, especially the downtown and docks areas. The areas that were used were done very well. Each area of the map has its own character, with the 3 mountain sections being the best representation of that. The only problem was the driving physics not matching the roads.
@purwantiallan5089 personally, not a fan of the off-road sections since payback. NFS has never been about offroad racing. That was just a way to get people from Forza. Also, the city is kind of boring compared to heat or 2015 cause of the bland lighting, with the only good thing being the cartoon effects, which has nothing to do with the map itself
Damn, the fact that all the music (that I've heard in the video so far) has been persona 3/Reload music is great. Makes the video feel weirdly familiar
9:24 surprisingly enough, gran turismo also allows you to put decals on windows, though only the side and rear ones, the front only allows decals on the banner and speaking of decals, gt also has community decals... which means you can put actual anime booba sticker on your car
I kinda wonder if at some point during game development Anna was the playable character. And later in development they had to shoehorn in all of the licensed clothing, and did that by making the playable character fully customizable. But to avoid completely overhauling the story they basically made the player just follow the main character of the game around. which is probably why it feels like the player is an afterthought.
Only to be haunted by his traumas and defend his father's Camaro from any potential driver. The moment where we go to the hideout (how i name the 2nd garage) was quite shocking at first glance. Lots of great points in this video. Of the modern NFSs this one is my favorite. I wish it did more to sell the world, the division between day and night as far and festival ambiance vs Illegal night scenes, but that feels like a general trend in modern racers. It's deeply flawed, but it's a good time. Great video UV crew. Looking forward to the next o7

@@in4mus85 It is, but the problem is that Ubisoft made it. Knowing what they did with the first installment, I wouldn’t pay for it. Probably wait for a discount price at least.
IT really just comes down to them not understanding the handling model is the true problem. There are other things but the most mentioned things are the control and handling model. They created a great racing game where the racing part sucks :/
This was the first game I’ve ever played with a wheel &pedals set up. Essentially kickstarted my racing journey as a whole now. The single player mode is a timeless classic play through. Loved the vid.
Only, I mean only things I like about Unbound is City part of the map, new car customization and a handling model that finally felt rewarding depending on what way you want to drive without getting punished.
For real i hate the fact that they brought back crash cams in unbound when they were proven to be such a bad idea. Theres times where the crash cam last like a whole 10 seconds 💀
I Been saying this. This game could’ve possibly been the best had it received like 3-4 years of content and dlc. I would’ve never even minded if criterion took over and continued to build upon it instead of releasing a game like unbound that was underwhelming. However with the recent news criterion shared with us recently it looking forward to this years unbound
Heat is my favorite NFS title, simply for what it could have been. I LOVE the vapor-wavey vibe of the night, and the story has bones, if not far too short (I'm also glad someone else feels the same about Anna's unearned attitude). I think that with more more challenging AI racers, more story/"quest" content, slightly tweaked handling, and a car class system, the single-player version would be absolutely perfect for me. (Also, having pedestrians would help enliven the map). (Edit: There are some great coloring/shading mods that make the city look like I think it was intended to look.)
Honestly I kinda have to agree with you about the overly used BMW M3 GTR. While MW2005 was 19 years ago though the game is still immortalized purely because it was such a good game. That’s why people today when they play these modern NFS games they always compare them to either UG2 or MW2005. What EA thinks when people do this is “oh we need to recreated those games with a different story.” And just no. We want an NFS game with its own roots, it’s own story, a new headline car, and an actual goal like those other games had. Slap in a rival like razor who’s insufferable and cheats to win that you need to beat. Yea it’s the same concept story but there’s so many ways you can make it different from MW2005 and UG2. People are excited for the new remake of MW2005 and I’ll admit I’m one of those people, and for good reason. It’s the best NFS game in my opinion and we’ve been desperately trying to find another game with the same nostalgic feeling that we are willing to settle with a remake if nothing new is worth buying. So in one hand I do agree that we do need to move on from the older games, while in the other we hold on to those older games because they were even to this day top tier NFS games and we want those feelings those games have us back.
@@in4mus85 even though i really love carbon the game is...much like heat, just a bit underdeveloped and unfinished unfortunately, the cops play little role in this game other than to be an annoyance.
I freaking love NFS Heat. The reason why is the small little details that add up. Like the constant banter when you enter the garage and Lucas or Ana just talks to you. And while driving as well they just give you a call to catch up it’s amazing. Gives their characters so much life and personality. Another mechanic I love is the cop patrolling while your heat level is high and they give chase to you but not commence an official chase until they’re close to you. Past NFS games the cops just see you and bam instant chase mode. But this little mechanic works so well while you’re out and about crusing to the next race and you don’t have to stop what you’re doing because a cop chase started. I just blow by them until they give up. It’s genius! The high Heat races is where this game truly shines for me. It’s the most intense racing I’ve felt in a long time and they’re are challenging. One thing is also wish Heat would have implemented in the on the endgame. You’re in The League now! Why not offer League style races that are just the toughest racing you’ll compete in! Have challenges set out for by the League for you to complete. And idk just expand on it. The actual game just ends right there with the same old races nothing new added and I often restart my career to get enjoyment out of it. It could have been so much more…..
I definitely agree with you on the league. Races like Anna raved about it like. Oh it's so good and such exclusive features or something, But yeah, exclusive cars like maybe better. Performance parts past 400. I have a chance on getting DLC cars, I think the developer's a and because the game came out 3 months before COVID, that was another problem.
This game definitely had some issues, but I had a ton of fun on this game. Doing night races and cop chases in multiplayer with some friends was SO MUCH FUN. It’s such a shame Ghost never the chance to show its true potential
As a person who’s started playing recently wit 5 other friends this game is so incredibly fun that other need for speeds have never captured for us especially the newer title like unbound the whole journey of getting cash and venturing into the night tryna stack up heat while getting chased down endlessly and risking all our money for more rep was so much fun
@@shawklan27Rivals is overrated. It got recognition late, just like an overrated failed Toyota Supra. The Run was underappreciated since People played it years after, but Rivals was played from launch and still, was terrible
Bought this on sale for $5 and was happy with the value, but knew if I had paid full price, I would have regretted it. I just got to the part in the story where you need to find a way into the police chiefs laptop, and then you tell me it ends in 2 or so missions after that? What the hell was even the point lmao Great retrospective review, I appreciate all the history you brought, as I hadn't played any racing games since Midnight Club. Also hearing your takes on the story was cathartic; every moment was teetering on "so bad, it's good".
Horribly unpopular opinion: I really liked this games story. None of the all bad stuff you mentioned really crossed my mind, I guess because I found it plausible and really above all else, I was not expecting to see such a dark story, one with Mercer tying someone to a table or getting murdered. I enjoyed it. Time to face god for my sins i guess.
Heat actually being the most coherent modern NFS story to date isn't surprising, considering when 2015 is when you found lost recording of a young adult dad in his rebelous phase off his gaming PC and Payback is basically straight to Amazon Fast & Furious ripoff
I found out that if your car is fast enough (like 5 performance points above the requirement) you can actually grip through the corners. It's just that the game's handling does everything it can to make you slide
People love the car not because it's from Most Wanted but 1) Because of what you had to do to get it and 2) Because the real M3 GTR is among the rarest cars of all time.
I 100% heat , went back to rivals and found an interesting fact. Nfs heat is so good when everything falls in the right place. The heat level, the high heat race, a car you like, fully upgraded , with the right equipment. While in rivals those factors are already in place. The time I had to spend( grind ) to get to the enjoyable part in heat is totally bypassed in rivals. Rivals is so intense from the get go. And made me realise what was so great about NFS. COPS!!! Nfs signature thing is about cops. So many other games have customisation but only nfs has cops. Nfs fanboys have contributed to the series becoming worse with each iteration. Influencers like " blackpanthaa " saying things like payback is so underrated and it's the best of the recent ones only does more bad. Rivals .... just play the grand hotpursuit with all your weaponry and see how intense the game is. The weather system , the stormy environment, turbo, unlimited repair shops with brutal cops makes the game an adrenaline rush.
12:05 this is why i loved Rival... It had so much different race types that nothing got boring. 1. Standard Races 2. Time Trials 3. Hot Pursuits 4. Interceptors 5. One on one races And the final race (World Tour) was just perfect These days i hear a lot about recent NFS games having very limited event/race types... Which is a shame because there's a lot they can add to a game... Ofc they dont need to add all, but if they have about 5 thats good
I actually enjoyed NFS Heat. While it isn’t perfect compared to the golden age of NFS games, it is one of the more modern games that I’ve enjoyed playing the most. 👍
because rally racing is just standard races on slightly bumpy terrain, it’s so painfully uninspired and makes a mockery of rally racing, don’t try and twist it

I love Heat but purely because me and my 2 mates got it at the start of the first lockdown and played the life out of it together God knows how many hours we raced against each other It’s biggest crimes for me are: 1. No drag racing???? 2. No way to have multiple saves… 3. Races are to easy, there’s no difficulty 4. Upgrades are to easy to get imo 5. No support post launch
Man im glad got this on sale, like 2022, but man, Heat could've got more support, but yet again, it's EA, they find a way to fuck it up. BUT my how tables have turned for Unbound as they dropped Year 2 roadmap for 30th anni. of the franchise lol
This game and Undercover share something in common to me, and it’s how less attempts to be unique are more appreciated than when they try to be different. In Undercover’s case it’s how the PS2 version, despite being quite literally Most Wanted with Carbon assets, is considered the good version. With Heat, it’s the fact that despite a lot of this game’s faults, it’s considered the best NFS from the past 10 years, which I don’t understand at all. I’d genuinely rather choose between 2015’s awful physics and Payback’s horrid upgrade system over Heat, which sucks because all 3 games are all either better in conception, or missing things that’d make the games far more complete feeling & much more fun.
What's funny is that PS2/Wii UC had more variation in their story missions than the main HD releases. In the latter, you're mostly just stealing cars and occasionally taking down the main gang members, whereas in the former you have different objectives like baiting a rival into a police ambush, destroying a police van, keeping the cops out of the city etc.
NFS Heat really felt like a return to form for the NFS series. Even though it has its issues, I still had a bunch of fun with this game. Cant say the same for others like Payback, 2015, or even Unbound.
Payback was actually really good and unique. Heat and unbound are just repeats of the same formula without the uniqueness of the derelicts or the heist story missions
All the Need For Speed titles after NFS Most Wanted and Carbon Era could be great. NFS The Run : Good story,Limited Choices NFS MW 2012 : Arcade type but lack of soul like 'story' SHIFT Series : Just another SIM driver Rivals/NFS 2015 : Focused heavily on online things.
I love heat, but damn it left so much on the table. Especially in the daytime. The story could of just gotten you to a successor to Pro Street during the day having all that fun all over again with the festivals and then at night rolling with the high rollers and having wild and crazy races with them. There was so much there. It hurts it never got the chance to tell that story.
Tbh nfs payback had a better story than Givin for, the build up the antagonist, the protagonist. And the build up to the final race. It was great. The only problem I have with nfs payback is the lack of different feel between cars, and the fact that off road cars are to uncontrollable. The drifting in nfs payback is greatest
Might as well make it canon that the night races are this wild simply because the daytime festival is so disappointingly lame, so they gotta make their own fun while they're there. Would have been fun if the daytime stuff had kind of it's own progression/story kinda like Pro Street. Idk, maybe it would have been better to split the day and night into two completely seperate games even, to have the time to flesh them out and have 'em shine on their own. Anyway, it WAS a fun game, even if it did feel rather short.
Heat could've been better had EA just let the developers support the game instead of relying on the whole if its not making us money don't update it, i actually like heat the story was alright, cars/ customization was pretty good and the music was okay i wish it had more variety, my main gripes was that the map was empty sure you got traffic spawning and plenty of side missions but there's no npcs on the streets, and the cops were aggressive, but other than that its on my favorite nfs list
The story should had shaw return and taurus's rule in dlcs and more cars like a cobra style mercury, 57 bel air, 55 ford pick, drag racing the other big areas being opened on the map. Dlc where you take part in stealing racers cars as a cop and unlock cop cars
If they create the perfect product, They fear no one will buy the next game & they’ll have to beat themselves with every release So they release mediocre products to keep us coming back
If only Heat got the amount of support Unbound has been getting, it could've been among the best NFS ever. I still rank it quite highly, but it could've been a top 5 for sure, top 3 maybe.
My only problem with heat is that it sometimes feels as if the cops are bound to take you in. They latch on to you like gum, no matter the speed, you could go 120km or 390km and still able to catch up to you, sometimes you just can’t shake them off.
I felt like heat was Underground with a different skin. Like an expansion pack. It kept me busy for sometime just because of the cars and customization really. Driving mechanics are beyond arcade. Cops are a rush only because of the consequences making a bet and potentially losing your money. You cant beat or lose them unless you are in a rocketship. Love these videos, though and thanks for sharing the story at the end because I couldn't bother to finish the game.
If you want the cars to feel a bit more varied try them on manual settings for heat. Completely changes the vibe. Especially after playing nightrunners
Heat is top 5. Butttt Hear me out lol

It sucks they made that car as it was only to be a one off
agree
I was excited to try it out but man it is indeed SLOW
that's exactly what i thought too, would be better if Mercer popped out with a Polestar 1 Hero Edition instead of a M3 GTR at the last part where we get to chase him lmao
Yeah it is kinda true that the story of older NFS games were more goal-focused than the newer ones.

Yes the health system and single shot nitrous system are garbage

I always felt that the new Need For Speed (reboot) games should've gone more for a midnight club LA aesthetic and story with the driving of a simcade, such as Gran Turismo.
NFS always could've been the customizable car Simcade. Like maybe less cars, with more customization, like maybe you can buy a silvia/180sx, and turn it into multiple variations or somewhat different body-styles like Sil-80s or S15.5s, giving more reasons to acquire multiple of the same cars.
Imagine a NFS where it has the driving physics of a Codemasters game, I think it could be amazing.
I'd love a game around your concept of customisation. I hope night runners fills this niche!
@@amadreal1984 The only reason NightRunners might not is because it (seems) to only focus on freeways for races, somewhat like Tokyo Xtreme Racer on PS2.

The funniest part is that HEAT did better on reviews than the new Battlefield.
BF 2042 was absolute garbage and they've already ended support for it too. EA are a bunch of dumbasses.

No wonder the world map feels a bit off. In the east there's a bridge that connects but i've never see it used. In the north, full mapped but can't be reached.
Back when Heat released many people found a glitch where you could go out of bounds in the maps to an area that was massive and drivable.

Nah your right the soundtrack is much better then Unbounds
Palm City is apparently big enough to have skyscrapers and what looks like it should be a bustling downtown district but no surrounding suburbs. The whole county is just one coastal city and then farmland surrounding. Also, I feel like a lot of NFS maps have been really similar lately. The coast is always on the right side of the map.
When i saw the map of Unbound, i felt that it looked (layout wise) too simular to the of Heat
@@somedudenameddes0121NFS UNBOUND's map too.
@purwantiallan5089 personally, not a fan of the off-road sections since payback. NFS has never been about offroad racing. That was just a way to get people from Forza. Payback's world fucking sucked, Heat's is way better
Heat is a solid 8/10 it just needed more content and ghost to keep adding to it over time.
Damn, the fact that all the music (that I've heard in the video so far) has been persona 3/Reload music is great. Makes the video feel weirdly familiar

and speaking of decals, gt also has community decals... which means you can put actual anime booba sticker on your car
the crew motorfest as well allows this

I kinda wonder if at some point during game development Anna was the playable character. And later in development they had to shoehorn in all of the licensed clothing, and did that by making the playable character fully customizable. But to avoid completely overhauling the story they basically made the player just follow the main character of the game around. which is probably why it feels like the player is an afterthought.

Honestly Im glad they use the cars for fan service bc I almost wasn’t finna play heat if the m3 gtr wasn’t innit🤷🏽♂️
I've completed nearly everysingle NFS over the last 20 years and Reckonn the Crew 2 & crew motorfest are the best open world car cruising and racing games ever..
I agree, but Ubisoft will take your right of playing The Crew. Watch, they’ll do what they did with The Crew 1.
Is the crew actually good? No one talks about it
@@in4mus85 It is, but the problem is that Ubisoft made it. Knowing what they did with the first installment, I wouldn’t pay for it. Probably wait for a discount price at least.
YES OFFICER!!!!!
Classic
Need for speed Heat is better than Need for speed Unbound actually
Only, I mean only things I like about Unbound is City part of the map, new car customization and a handling model that finally felt rewarding depending on what way you want to drive without getting punished.
For real i hate the fact that they brought back crash cams in unbound when they were proven to be such a bad idea. Theres times where the crash cam last like a whole 10 seconds 💀
I liked payback, loved heat once I turned the cringe music off and payback meh.. But I will give it another try one day
In some cases yes and in some no.
no it ain't, not even close, Heat is soulless
Heat story in a nutshell: you are just Uber/ups for the characters of the story...
Traffic stopping right in your way while taking a turn. Strategically placed to slow your progress every 1/4 mile is annoying.
I Been saying this. This game could’ve possibly been the best had it received like 3-4 years of content and dlc. I would’ve never even minded if criterion took over and continued to build upon it instead of releasing a game like unbound that was underwhelming. However with the recent news criterion shared with us recently it looking forward to this years unbound
i bought this game, played it 1 time and never again.. i was so hyped when i saw trailers and the map but i hate the handling of the cars in heat..
the only time you'll ever hear writing on the wall with post malone an cardi B lmao
I truly loved Heat tbh. After not really liking any NFS game since most wanted, it was wonderful
Carbon?
They need to bring back pursuit breakers.
and im playing it now, buying the DLC,best games ever.love the story, and can change your avatar to style, much love!>
Glad you enjoy it!
I never understood the genuine praise that Heat gets, and this video covers a lot of the issues I have with it. Great video!
Heat should've been next generation NFS MOST WANTED 05.
@@purwantiallan5089 No . . no.
Same the game is just shit. I find rivals LEAGUES better gameplay and presentation wise
What the hell was even the point lmao
Great retrospective review, I appreciate all the history you brought, as I hadn't played any racing games since Midnight Club.
I mean hey man theres nothin wrong with enjoying it, I just think the story is hilarious
@@UltraViolet_Moses I feel like most NFS stories are for the wrong reasons
Heat actually being the most coherent modern NFS story to date isn't surprising, considering when 2015 is when you found lost recording of a young adult dad in his rebelous phase off his gaming PC and Payback is basically straight to Amazon Fast & Furious ripoff
@@UltraViolet_Moses I mean bro NFSMW 2005 had a goofy ahh story too. One of the best stories in NFS is of NFS The Run. IDK just my opninon
@@iampro6615 cool opinion
I found out that if your car is fast enough (like 5 performance points above the requirement) you can actually grip through the corners. It's just that the game's handling does everything it can to make you slide
People love the car not because it's from Most Wanted but 1) Because of what you had to do to get it and 2) Because the real M3 GTR is among the rarest cars of all time.
The 🐐 blessed us with another video let's gooooo 🎉🎉
WHO let bro cook 💀🙏🏻
Insightful criticism
1:43 Me after 2017 flashbacks 😂
It’s like they got the battlefield developers from the next office to work on rivals too cause that game genuinely had me fighting for my life
@@leonpatrickokello7779 lol that comment was hilarious. Yeah they are out to kill you in rivals !
12:05 this is why i loved Rival... It had so much different race types that nothing got boring.
1. Standard Races
2. Time Trials
3. Hot Pursuits
4. Interceptors
5. One on one races
And the final race (World Tour) was just perfect
These days i hear a lot about recent NFS games having very limited event/race types...
Fair enough!
I never thought I'd stand by any modern NFS title, but Heat is definitely one of my favorites.
NFS Heat was great! It could have been Perfect!
Next time!
"The backfires in this game are so over the top..."
- You shut your mou-
"...but that's what I love"
- Okay, the subscription stays on
"there's no innovation when it comes to events" *rally racing exists* "ew no! that's too different!"
because rally racing is just standard races on slightly bumpy terrain, it’s so painfully uninspired and makes a mockery of rally racing, don’t try and twist it
@@308iv how is an uninspired mode in which I’ve called too basic a skill issue”? please educate yourself on the terms you use before using them thank you
@@308iv again, please elaborate on how this correlates to skill?
@308iv this is hella entertaining for me so I’m just going to keep asking, how does this equal a deficiency in skill?
Let's be real, off-road racing is just the same shit but worse.
I love Heat but purely because me and my 2 mates got it at the start of the first lockdown and played the life out of it together
God knows how many hours we raced against each other
It’s biggest crimes for me are:
1. No drag racing????
2. No way to have multiple saves…
3. Races are to easy, there’s no difficulty
4. Upgrades are to easy to get imo
5. No support post launch
I think it was for the most good the best nfs in the last decade, shame they drop support for it
It truly shines on PC w all the right mods
Man im glad got this on sale, like 2022, but man, Heat could've got more support, but yet again, it's EA, they find a way to fuck it up. BUT my how tables have turned for Unbound as they dropped Year 2 roadmap for 30th anni. of the franchise lol
I love the fact that you stuck with the gamecube bit! I haven't played any of the new need for speeds, so this is a nice look at them!
Thanks! 😄
Heat and unbound are just repeats of the same formula without the uniqueness of the derelicts or the heist story missions
only thing that stopped heat from being an incredible game was the fact that EA got rid of ghost so we didnt get updates.
All the Need For Speed titles after NFS Most Wanted and Carbon Era could be great.
NFS The Run : Good story,Limited Choices
NFS MW 2012 : Arcade type but lack of soul like 'story'
SHIFT Series : Just another SIM driver
Rivals/NFS 2015 : Focused heavily on online things.
the only good review i've seen in this year for awhile now, love the video and good use for the persona 3 music :)
Hey thanks man!
@@UltraViolet_Moses thank you, but atleast the drifting in nfs payback was fun
I love Heat! I played trough 4 times. On Xbox, PC and 2 times on PS with different cars. I made some ridiculous bilds like offroad M5.
Out of any modern NFS, Heat is definetly the best one.
If they create the perfect product, They fear no one will buy the next game & they’ll have to beat themselves with every release
So they release mediocre products to keep us coming back
If only Heat got the amount of support Unbound has been getting, it could've been among the best NFS ever. I still rank it quite highly, but it could've been a top 5 for sure, top 3 maybe.
Mmmmmmmm
NFS HEAT basically is like a combination of NFS Payback + NFS 2015 + NFS RIVALS.
Great Thumbnail Violet!
My only problem with heat is that it sometimes feels as if the cops are bound to take you in.
They latch on to you like gum, no matter the speed, you could go 120km or 390km and still able to catch up to you, sometimes you just can’t shake them off.
They Should Learn More from NFS MW 2005, Underground Series and NFS 2015 Fr
I felt like heat was Underground with a different skin. Like an expansion pack. It kept me busy for sometime just because of the cars and customization really. Driving mechanics are beyond arcade. Cops are a rush only because of the consequences making a bet and potentially losing your money. You cant beat or lose them unless you are in a rocketship. Love these videos, though and thanks for sharing the story at the end because I couldn't bother to finish the game.
If you want the cars to feel a bit more varied try them on manual settings for heat. Completely changes the vibe. Especially after playing nightrunners
I adored heat. I still play it
