Let's blow up the cave save the bats lizards snakes and spiders because they will kill all other escaping bugs that one centipede can live I changed my mind about only this one only legends know of the legend of this cave and it's centipede demons rip all at caught by birds of prey
So the people saying, "Don't kill house centipedes, they're harmless". If this ran towards you unexpectedly at full speed, while you're taking a shit, you wouldn't be frightened at all💀
I would’ve burnt my shoulder with a flamethrower before the whole house idc if they’re meant to be harmless I saw 2 and one was huge at like 4 am in the bathroom and I almost died
If you’re in a house, you will likely have them again. They’ve been in every house I’ve spent the night in. But I generally look for them. Some houses have more. My friend said he didn’t have them because he’s never seen one there. Then one day I found one in his basement. And a few weeks later he saw a huge one and killed it by turning on a gas burner on the stove, into which it ran. If you don’t live in an cave in Asia you don’t have to worry about encountering thereuopoda, which is what’s shown in this video.
I rented a basement and a day after moving in I saw soooooo many of these things. I moved out a few weeks after. I am not joking. I was scared out of my mind living there. I once woke up to once right beside my face crawling on the wall.
Don’t live in a house. Almost every house I know has them, including new houses. If you have to live in a basement, use a dehumidifier. You’ll notice far fewer. I think if you live in a basement you should have a dehumidifier anyway to limit mold growth.
I saw a massive house centipede in my house and before I could kill it it farted off and was never seen again. Wanted to learn about them and I see this guy casually holding one that’s about 50 times as big as the one I saw. I’m petrified lol
can these things just go extinct, like literally was laying in my bed watching tik toks and one fell off my ceiling and onto my blanket and i literally screamed. this happened not even 10 minutes ago:(
This particular species IS harmful to humans. But they usually only hang out in caves in Asia. The video calls it a house centipede, as does another BBC video. They get this wrong. House centipedes are part of the genuses “scutigera,” to which common house centipedes of Europe and North America belong, the most common being scutigera coleoptrata, and “allothereura,” to which common house centipedes of Australia belong. These dangerous cave centipedes are part of the genus “thereuopoda.” They belong to the same family as common house centipedes called “scutigeridae,” but not the same genus.
It’s ok. One was on my bed when I was just laying there and I literally freaked the hell out and slept in the living room with a blow up mattress for a legit month and I was still terrified of my room when I went back in.
I have such a phobia of these things. I can’t even be in the room with one of any centipede. Anything else I’m ok with by centipedes I cannot get past my fear
The Cave Centipede looks like a giant version of the House Centipedes that I see in my home. Cool creatures, I leave them alone because I know they are hunting other bugs and are pretty much harmless.
Found a huge one in the kitchen today, though not THAT big lol. For years, I had no idea house centipedes could bite. I'd just pick them up in my hands and put them outside. I don't think they bit me because I did it quickly and they probably assumed my hands were a dark hiding spot, like a mini cave.
You are insane but thank you for making this. It's always really humbling to see a creature like this just doing it's thing. Gives you a respect and appreciation for them, which makes it a bit easier to deal with the house-hold variety :P
This is the only kind of bug I never kill in my house and a few days ago I found a giant one, I felt goosebumbs but I bet he ate the hell out of a lot of little bugs in my place, so I'm letting him exist, hope he never leaves me now I call him Jeff
Once I had a silverfish invasion in my apartment and invited a big scutigera from the basement to balance the ecosystem, but didn't give it a name. Instead I gave a name to a giant spider that each time I threw out of the window came back home (second floor): I called it Lassie.
I am only scared of one thing, centipedes decided to watch this video to get over my phobia just made it worse I can not get rid of the feeling of then crawling over me worst thing is, is that they’re called house centipedes meaning they live in your house I’m lucky enough to live where they don’t but I still want to move planets!
Is this the same species in "Terrifying Scutigera Encounter in Caves | Deadly 60" ? They said the bite sent a guy to the hospital but a bee sting doesn't sound too bad.
I didnt even know the giant house centipede existed. I have scutigera living in my basement in Chicago and they are about an inch long roughly. I became aware of Thereuopoda species somehow but couldnt believe their size. Thank you for posting this where I can actually see their size range. Its like a mystery revealed. I also thought they were native to Japan. They are almost never in the American pet trade.
The first time i’ve seen a house centipede is when i was going to brush my teeth. The little guy came out of the fucking sink drain. I got so scared. But they actually eat bugs and other shit like that so i leave the them alone.
Very cool and amazing video. Nature is indeed awesome and mesmerizing. I'd now like to have one of these big centipedes running along my arms and hands. Definitely much bigger, and more impressive, than the house centipedes here in Illinois USA.
I had one drop on me from the ceiling, much smaller American variant but man he tickled the crap out of me, and didn’t want to be on me, he jumped off as soon as he could
I just saw one shoot across my floor and squeeze under my closet door where I keep my cloths . I am now planing on wearing the cloths I have on for the rest of my life.
I still remember the very first time I encountered this thing, and it was 1/3 bigger than the one he handled on hand. It was huge and it ran so fast, too bad I didn't have any equipment with me, or else I would have caught it.
I remember i found one of the house centipedes in my house when i was laying on the ground playing with my dog and then something bit me as i look around i found him/her i was planing to try to keep as a pet but i decided to feed to my vinegroon
I bought some huntsman spiders online to get rid of those damn house centipedes and roaches in my resident. I would rather sleep with 100 tarantulas on my face than 1 house centipede on my foot.
O found one in the house and its 10 times bigger than the one you show it is a white one how do I get it out of the house. Please help me out with this one, Thank you for sharing this amazing video with us, and I hope you can help me.?
2:39. Came here to try to calm my ass down. Saw something that size in my basement by my stairs just watching me. Tried to move it with a cup and it vanished. Like, it was so fast my eyes lacked the refresh rate to actually see it move. Now I just know it’s somewhere in my house. And it’s fast. And I wanted to see somebody just chilling with one. Kinda helped, but I can see the nope in your eyes.
I got the smaller version in my house. They are just always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Example: If I visit the shower, there will be one waiting for me on the wall. 🥲 If I’m cooking one will just randomly come up on the wall and park it….
This guy can’t grow hair on his balls because hair doesn’t grow on steel

One night I felt something soft on my shoulder- I turned around and saw a massive house centipede crawling off my bed like , "Woops... good bye."
Wow i would had jumped up and smashed it
I would’ve burnt my shoulder with a flamethrower before the whole house idc if they’re meant to be harmless I saw 2 and one was huge at like 4 am in the bathroom and I almost died
pretty insane considering you didn't actually know how venomous this thing is (liked and subbed)
Practically harmless
I had one in my house once. Just got the keys to my new house today.

can these things just go extinct, like literally was laying in my bed watching tik toks and one fell off my ceiling and onto my blanket and i literally screamed. this happened not even 10 minutes ago:(
These are ultra beneficial to us humans , they literally kill every single pest in your house ( bedbugs , roaches , spiders and even flying insects )

that centipede shivers me timbers
1:54 I believe it is a Thereuopoda Longicornis/Clunifera , or cave centipede very similar to the one that make their way into houses, but much larger
The way he changed direction on you at that last bit 4:59, he looked like he was ready to bite you.
