Вставка

- It is not as straightforward as you would think to use your Instant Pot as a Slow Cooker. However, with these tips, you CAN use your Instant Pot for slow-cooking SOME recipes.
Low Setting on Instant Pot = Keep Warm on Slow Cooker
Normal Setting on Instant Pot = Low Heat on Slow Cooker
High Setting on Instant Pot ~ High Heat on Slow Cooker (but not quite as hot, so add 15 minutes per hour)

I've never had a problem slow cooking in my instant pot. That's the only thing I use it for. I couldn't figure out how to get it on high. Mine is different from yours. I played around with it some more and figured it out. Thanks for the vid!
On some of them you have to hit the "slow cook" button a few more times to change to the setting you want.
Haha. I “slow cooking” for first time and ALSO couldn’t figure out how to get it on high cook. 😮 Lauren, how’d you do it, girl? 😊
@@lavernebryan3007 press the slow cooker button twice
@@laurenlane8934 Bless you. Now I know. 🥰
Many thanks for this useful tip Kristen - as I have never tried the ‘Slow Cook’ function.
.
I hope that you and your family are having a lovely first Xmas in your new home, and health and happiness for the new year…
Thank you so much! It was a wonderful holiday filled with good health! I hope you had a wonderful holiday yourself.
I miss my slow cooker sometimes but i can't justify the space it takes up while also having an Instant Pot. The modifications for cooking on high sound spot on. Just starting a roast now - I'll report back! Great work!
Glad this helped!
I guess he can drink his roast as he hasn't reported back, and it's been a month!!!😮
Thanks so much for this video! I just recently started using my IP as a slow cooker and I’ve been winging it, not really sure what “less, normal, and more” meant. I’m glad no one got food poisoning so far, I’ve just been using normal and hoping for the best 😂 now I know that “normal” really is low. Yay!
Happy to help! (And that no food poisoning has occurred! LOL!)
How about the steam release ? Should it be sealed or vented?
It won't make any difference :) I should have mentioned that!
Never tried using the instant pot for a slow cooker. Good info to have though.
I thought I was doing something wrong. Now I feel vindicated 😂
LOL!
Thanks so much.
You're welcome!
I just got the Instant Port Duo Crisp with ultimate lid.
To slow cook, do I still need to lock/seal the lid? Or just close the lid?
Also, why add 15 min. for every hour on high?
Thank you! Excited to try the Instant Pot! 😃
No need to seal the lid, just close it. As for adding the cooking time, the Instant Pot does not reach quite as high as a crockpot on high, so adding 15 minutes makes up for that.
Thank you again for all your hard work!
You are very welcome
What about the little black vent seal thing? Where do I set that? Leave it "open" or seal it, as if I were pressure cooking? Thanks for the vid, BTW...oh, and if I need to seal it, then I assume the unit is built up with pressure which I need to release before lifting lid?
For slow cooking, because pressure is not reached, it does not make any difference.
THANK YOU for confirming my recent dilemma with my IP Mini. I thought it was just me. I’m NO Betty Crocker…but it seems like a slow cooker should be EASY 🤷♀️ I even bought the glass top 🙄 I finally decided to buy a 4 quart crockpot…even though it’s more stuff in my minimalist kitchen. I just wanted SIMPLE 😊
It is disappointing but you won't be disappointed to have both.
@@AMindFullMom That’s true because the instapot unfortunately does NOT work for slow cooking even if you add several extra hours!
I just subscribed to your channel and I hope to learn a lot. I asked for an Instant Pot for Christmas and my mom gave me one. I’m excited to try it but have no clue what I am doing at all.
I have read all the instructions and am still somewhat scared of it.
Hopefully I will learn how to use it.

Just a heads up. My Instant Pot used to burn everything, then I switched to low pressure, and now, everything turns out great. Sometimes I'll add 5-15 minutes, but most of the time I just use the same time. Also, the little list they gave me on times did not make sense until I started cooking a little with it. I suggest you start with hard boiled eggs, just to get used to the Instant Pot.
@@bigred9428 Thanks for the help!
Do we still close the lid but leave the valve open on top? I assume so otherwise it would be pressure cooking?
Just wanna make sure I don’t mess it up lol
It won't make any difference, as the temperature will never get hot enough to lock the lid and come to pressure. I typically leave the valve open.
Hi, according to the manual, slow cooking on a low temperature is actually the Less setting. Is that correct?
No, it needs to be normal for it to match the temperature of a crockpot.
Seal or vent for slow cook? Thanks
It won't make a difference :)
I bought the duo plus and used it the other day for a slow cooker recipe and after a couple hours it was still preheating. I thought something was wrong! What is the point of the little metal stand that sits in the bottom of the insta pot?
That is part of the heating element
@@AMindFullMom no I mean the round metal part that is removable and sits inside the stainless pot
I believe you are referring to the metal rack? That is used when you want to elevate something (like potatoes) out of the cooking liquid. Here is a detailed explanation of the parts: amindfullmom.com/instant-pot-101/ @@michaelclld
Hey Kristen, trick question of the day...my sister's doing their annual chili contest in the dept where she works tomorrow morning. She hoping to use my instant pot to use as a warmer. Would you be familiar with the possibility of that? I would think heating already prepared chili in the IP might be tricky. Is there a way you would go about heating the chili then having it switch down to the warmer for use? I'm not so sure if she set it to 1 or 2 min, so it heats up before switching itself to warmer would be a problem with any kind of burning on the bottom? It's only a partial batch. Also, it's not a super thick type chili, it's more like a "chili soup". Or...do you think using the IP is not a good idea in this instance? :) Thx, hope you see this sooner than later:)
Hey! I hope I am not too late (I was filming all day yesterday new videos). I would suggest using a crockpot on low to warm and then switching to keep warm. I don't find that the Instant Pot heats and holds warm when people are going in and out for servings.
@@AMindFullMom LOL, Maybe little but it was last minute she asked me to use it and very last minute question for you to even respond:) Thanks so much for your reply back. As it turned out she took it to work even though I was a bit concerned it wouldn't do the job. But...I texted her mid morning to ask, "how it's going", she replied it was working great!
I was surprised and relieved at the same time lol. She heated it up nicely using low sauté, then turned it off then hit warm mode. Keep in mind they weren't in and out for servings over a period of time but rather it was left with lid on with an occasional stir from 8am until the time of their short event at 1:30pm which likely helped pull it off:)
Oh that's so good to know!@@la196
Can you leave the instant pot cooking on slow cook while not at home?
Yes, just as you would a crockpot
Of course you can, but the food will Not be done when you get home. The slow cooker part does not work as it should even if you add extra hours. Anyone that has tried to use it knows it does not work
I am using my instant pot as a slow cooker for the first time with original lid. I'm just cooking 3 stalks of celery for 2 hours on normal. I just want to see how it does without wasting a lot of food. If it doesn't work I'll get a slow cooker
It doesn’t work, at least the two I tried did not!
👍🏻👍🏻
My instant pot doesnt have an adjust button, how do i change from low to high?
Hit the slow cook button again or the button labeled pressure. That should work for most models.
@@AMindFullMomThanks! I had the same problem. I thought my Instant Pot just had a single temperature setting.
I don’t have the Normal setting, though. I just have two settings - Low and High.
I read somewhere that in the IP with three slow cook settings, the equivalence with the Crockpot is this:
IP Low = Crockpot Keep Warm
IP Normal = Crockpot Low
IP High = Crockpot high
Since I don’t have the Normal setting, what does Low mean in my IP? Is it a Crockpot Low or a Crockpot Keep Warm?
Happy to help! @@Sylphadora
@@AMindFullMom how did you help answer her question by sending a link to your channel? That doesn’t make sense!
@@southerngirl1408 It is a video showing how to adjust the buttons for various models. The visual presentation often helps :)
I have my slow cooker for times when it's needed. The IP sucks as a slow cooker.
I would tend to agree with you on that.
You would think that since the instant pot has a slow cook function that it would work as a slow cooker.
You would! Unfortunately not the case!
I’ve yet to do a 15 hour slow cook recipe. I don’t even think beans take that long.
Ha, that was an odd choice I made!
They take that long in an instant pot on slow cooker mode. That thing just simply will not cook beans completely done in that mode, even on high temperature.
Oh yeah definitely doesn’t slow cook good at all.
I’m just looking at the sharp utensil point up over by the stove. 😂
Hahaha, that is my carving fork
Why not??
@@willowclementine not sure. Maybe because the main purpose is pressure cooking.
@@willowclementine although you may have a different experience.
