I had a blast getting this thing back together with ya! Looking forward to the next one! Thanks for coming up to PA bud!
👍 it's almost as cool as the Mopar with the wrong front spring mount
My theory on the "wrench" you heard on your video the other day bouncing under the car was the piece of all-thread you cut off of the air cleaner stud! When you cut it, I said to myself, "that's going to fall out and scare the crap out of them"! Keep up the great videos.
@@brianhudak5103 wondered what that was but that makes sense
I can't believe he let you drive it knowing how far he had to drive! If there's one thing I know from watching MTOD, Roadkill, HRG etc etc, it's don't let Tony drive your car unless ya want content! He breaks everything! No offence Tony, Love ya! But Zero mechanical sympathy, until afterwards!
This was pretty great.
Honestly, how does Derek do it? He drives nine hundred miles in the rain, in the cold, in an uncomfortable car, and still has a smile to share with us all.
I guess it's his healthy eating habits, lol.
😂.. that, and the money...
"beggars cant be losers"
Living his best life
There are some of us on this blue marble who can road trip and those who struggle :)
Tony angelo and steve dulcich are known for their gentelness on transmissions and drive shafts. Bless their hearts..
😂
Don't tell Lucky about this
If you absolutely positively need to know, look for the seal of approval, Steve and Tony tested tough.
Shame on anyone that complains about Derek not road-tripping and doing "Will it run?" videos all the time. This man has tirelessly given us so much of his life to please us one episode at a time for years without fail. Who else can you say that about? Give him a break and some applause...
They are my favourite I want more
I really enjoy anything Derek shows us every week. He and his family are a true inspiration for me.
1,200 thumbs down..... need to remember a lot of low IQ chevy guys watch this channel don't expect too much. 😂
@ShaneScott-yf5yg There other channels that do the same thing, if you need "more"
Fellete here from Melbourne Australia here saying thank you Not only have you helped me do some minor repairs on my own Ute(Truck) but your Derek-isims are a part of my daily vocabulary
Appreciate ya!
Fair dinkum.
She sounds like a keeper!
You Aussies have some cool rides there too.
I do believe we all have picked them up, mines , it's fineee
Tony and Derek is a great collaboration
Oh I agree! The rain sucked, but ypu made it back! Loved it, bro!
The best! Love it when these guys team up on a build
100%. They really make it work.
Solid call, these two could get away with their own RoadKill style series
Sitting at the hospital besides my daughter who just fell asleep after having surgery for a raptured appendix.
Been a though day and nothing is better therapy than watching some Vice Grip.
Thank you for bringing so much joy and knowledge Derek!
Nice to see a Guy who knows how to build a proper T5, Jason builds a nice T5
T5s & T56s are easy to build.
SHOUT OUT TO JASON AND TONY FOR HELPING DEREK AND THE CAR COMUNITY YOU GUYS ARE GREAT 😁😁👍👍👍👍
@stevetheriault4164
Jason didn't seem to be too willing to help out the car community until the name drop.
@@OIllllOwould you say yes if a random person called about a transmission you had for sale and asked if he could change it in your driveway with your help? Highly doubtful.
@@RealNickTheCoolest
They were not asking for help just a driveway to swap it in. It wouldn't need to be a famous person for me to not have a problem with that but Ol' Jason was only interested in their money until he found out who it was.
@@OIllllO IIRC, there was a first guy they were originally planning on getting the T5 from, and then they switched to Jason instead. He mentions it right before they leave the track.
Every single week Derek never lets us down with his content.
Thanks Jon
This is one great video. Don't forget to subscribe and hit the like button
Awesome video my neighbor has the same car sitting out in the weeds beside his house won't sell going to fix it up one day that was 8 years ago last time I asked
Fellers on another level
This gentleman has turned, the fool around and find out graph, in his favor. Bravo
When Derek is on, he is on. Funniest entertainment on UA-cam.
This one was kinda bittersweet for me. My brother, who was 13 years older than me, had an almost perfect 66 Fairlane GT, 390,4 speed ,when I was just a boy and, man did I love the rides that he took me on. Unfortunately, for us, God decided that it was time for him to come home, just a few months ago. Thanks Derrick, Tony and all of the guys. Very special. Brought back a lot of good memories. Dang I miss him. ❤❤
Ð
Tony understands that getting the little details right matters. Under promise and over deliver. I like this guy.
Except for one little detail, no lights, no wipers, and building an engine that would over power the low grade T5. Thankfully those two guys saved the day with a properly modded up T5.
Need more collabs with you and Tony. Vice Grip and Stay Tuned make people feel like we are all friends
Love that you did a SBF trip. Was getting sick of endless Chevy videos.
UK fella here, thanks for all the quality Derek-isms. A fella knows how to use about 99.684% of them just right when conversing with friends, colleagues and your everyday Joe. I'll be dipped!
Spread the good word or isms 😂
A guy reckons I appreciate a feller from across the pond taking a moment to support, I'm sure VGG does too
Tell me Jason isn't just the best person to run into! I hope he enjoyed helping you two out as much as I just did watching it.
Tony Angelo seems like a solid guy to have around. Nice.
This.........
This is what it's all about.....
Thanks to ALL the folks involved in thrashing this together and putting yourselves out there to make this episode of VGG possible...man this was an awesome episode! My opinion, fix up and patch the holes in the floors, finish the roll cage and make it sanctioning legal, get the heater working, I know it's weight, and throw at least a wiper on it and have another car to rotate through on power tour...
Thanks again Derek, Jessica and the littles for ALL work, hours, time dedication blood sweat and tears you ALL put in behind the scenes to make this all possible...words can't wrap around the gratitude I have for this channel..
Thank you for the kind words. We appreciate it.
@@ViceGripGarage Hey buddy, I went to buy the black hat you're rocking in this vid and couldn't find it on your website. Do you have anymore?
I always love seeing an old racer being put back on the road......great episode....
Much appreciated
you talk family programing red and green he deserves shout out channel handle very minty KingofObsolete47
10.5K subscribers channel handle deserves shout out respect@@ViceGripGarage
"Break-It Tony" lives up to his reputation! Your build ain't bulletproof until it survives a Tony Angelo test drive!!! XD
The " WIll it drive home" Vids are my absolute favorite, fixing stuff along the way, it is just great.
Keep it up!
Tony's such a good guy! And this car, its sound and its history is pretty badass!! Great episode Derrick l!!
Dang, Jason is an absolute legend, rebuilds transmissions and has a sweet home setup? what a guy! love seein fellers in their element.
Hell yeah! That guys is a beast
57:40 Jason and Marty are legends. Genuinely cool dudes. love it
The amount of quality automotive content in the tubes is just insane. Thank you Derek and Tony(and team). These videos are pure gold!
4 guys who've done this before, can do it on the floor in an hour, I had to do this myself alone for the first time, with nothing but VGG as my tutor, 2 months waiting on parts taught me enough watching Derek. Thanks man
@tonyangelo 's shame face after breaking it is the best thing I've seen in a long while. The gamut of emotions is priceless! Feels like time for a 'Tony Broke It' t-shirt run.
You beat me to it. Was going to suggest a DON'T LET TONY DRIVE THE CAR T shirt. 😊
Tony breaks everything
Tony's just carrying on his tradition from motortrend
It was great to meet you guys at Maple Grove. I was the guy in the wheelchair with the gray hat. I had my 52 Buick Special parked next to the red mini van. So many cool cars turned up and it was great to meet so many great people.
Derek, I love that 67' Fairlane. I have a 66' and just dig that body style. I'm glad you got it going and back home. My personal suggestions are leave it pretty much the way it is but iron out some of the details. Put a heater core in it, wipers, a seat that will accommodate someone taller than 5'6", repair the electrical system and drive it!
Potato sack….i spit my beer on that one!!! Jason was a gold find and great to see folks who know their stuff inside and out. I wish someone had an old shoulder mount video of Ted and that Ford in its hayday with the big block setup….i can just imagine it was the top dog in town.
Its been such a pleasure to watch Derek on the tubes every week. A guy first subscribed way back when zip ties and bias plies shouted out your channel. Thank you Derek for all the awesome content for the last how many years 🤘
Wow, thanks
That’s exactly how I heard about Derek, Mint 👌
I heard of Derek from Murder Nova and I've been hooked ever since!
I started with the Baby Blue. Forget the make like a Study or Hudson I don’t remember it was old original and slow ..
peg knows the the minty guys to watch on the lubetube
Damn Fella's, meeting that bloke with the T5 garage was a Blessing,a well earnt blessing.
Dude!!! "Blokes" are from the far side of the pond. "Fellers" are from 'Merica!
In the heart of pa dirt track country
Thing i love about watching these videos, is just seeing all the good people lending a hand and just helping out when they don't have to. Absolutely awesome. The car community is amazing!
Was cool to see a bump in Tony’s subscribers as this build progressed. I didn’t know his channel at all. Great to see the car culture continue to thrive!
Thanks for all your guys’ hard work and look forward to watching videos on both channels.
Check out Stay Tuned's back catalog, too. Bunch of cool builds.
I subscribed to Tony's channel a couple months ago, after I saw the video of them sharing the Crown Vic in the race down at Cleetus'. Good stuff.
Kudos to Jason, for helping a fella out!
My favorite car. I have a 66 fairlane with a 289 automatic. I have owned for 42 years. Was my daily driver until 2003. It still runs and drives but it needs some love. Love equals money and that I don't have. Great video
The car is just amazing. Tony's hospitality never ceases to amaze me...and I am SO glad that you pronounced Reese's correctly. My wife and her sister says "Reecee's Peecees".
I'm not really a Ford guy but I love this car.The history behind it is really cool,if only this car could talk.
That exhaust sound is what dreams are made of!
You make my eyes get all sweaty when you talk about bringing it back to the track the old owner used to run it at and how he’d be looking down smiling.
Love it!! Good job keeping it alive.
My grandfather wrecked his sweet 64 Falcon in 1967. His insurance agent told him to pick out a car and it was covered 100%. He chose a 1967 Ford Galaxie 150 XL 289 three on the tree for $2700.. A bronze beauty. Grandma sold it when he died in 1969. This video brought back memories. Thank you Derek!
VGG, T/A, and a 67 Ford Fairlane. I have loved this series so far
I loved how the headliner dropped onto your head about 3/4 of the way down your first run.
Tony "the transmission bench-presser" Angelo
"The day has come where I can't operate a blanket" 😂😂 That day will come for us all!
This. This is the comment I was looking for 😅. Had me laughing in dolphin/whale speak 🤣
I love seeing that car running on the track. And Tony Angelo , thank you for helping for sure. You are cool dude!
I lost it when Derek opened up the blanket roll. Thanks for the laugh, sir. You know you've made it when a name drop 900 miles from home works!
Jason must be on cloud nine right now !
Talk about a chance happening and all he had to do was say YES !!!
And even called a friend to help !
Wow ! Alway answer the phone !
Hey Derek you always say you appreciate us...I just wanted to say thank you for allowing us to follow along. As a confirmed gear jamming petrol head I miss being able to do what you do after being grounded by a DUI driver. But sitting on the drinker side peering through the fog and the rain I feel like Im right there with you! Just wanted you to know the positive impact you've had on my life. You are an amazing fellow keep on doing what you do....I appreciate you so much!!!
Another most excellent episode. Nice pickup on the ol Fairlane, This channel is the only one I can literally sit for an hour and a half and watch Derek perform mechanical and digical miracles. I even pause the video for cold snacks. This one is a keeper! Kudos to Tony Angelo for his help.
Nothing like a video from Derek to lift your spirits after a hard week
This team up makes me incredibly happy. If you're sleeping on Stay Tuned, you are doing yourself a disservice.
Absolutely in love with the car. My cousin who was more like a brother had one he always wanted to fix up and held on to for many years. He died a few years ago in his early forties. This car flooded memories of him. Ty for this content
Good call with making the teaser at the end talking about what to look for next. It's always good to have something to look forward to and it works well just like traditional TV that teased the next episode as well. The ep didn't need to be in the can yet aka fully finished, just something you knew was happening next.
Derek this was a good buy with a long racing history. Fix the wipers, heater and for heaven's sake get the defroster installed! Get a seat that fits you, but one that Jessica can drive too she's going to love it!
Yep, and maybe patch the holes in the floor and trunk so that water stays on the outside.
Love that you paid tribute to Tony with the punk rock edit over the work done at his shop! Great detail
Another awesome episode. Love the fact you're preserving another historical piece!
It was great seeing you and Tony wrench on this thing together!!!
I'm 60 minutes in.
Top 5 VGG Episode ever.
Tony is Awesome and I'm a new fan of his channel.
I love this guy, Jason. Probably has a day job but rebuilds old Ford Manual Transmission for fun ?
Love it
Thanks
That Fairlane makes my heart race! In high school a neighbor kid had a 68 Fairlane with a 4sp. He was 17 and I was 15. This was in '75.
The man has skills, l worry about him. May God be with you.
Absolutely awesome! I do remember the index cards in the library very well. The car sounds awesome and it's great that it got to return to its old track after 40 years and make some passes! Big thanks to Tony for all of his work; also to Jason and Charlie for their help with the transmission and electrical. Cracking the vent windows might have helped with the fogging. Can't wait to see more of the car, maybe a nice street/strip continuance for the car.
I have been officially inspired to rebuild my father's 76 Chevy Scottsdale pickup. Thank you Derick
Do it!
Heck ya!
This feller just sat down on a friday night with a bowl of popcorn and a cold snack waiting all day for his favourite show to come on, feller had a nostalgic moment, friday night, favourite show, popcorn? Dukes of Hazzard Ofcourse, Derek you are a Legend now
That's exactly how I used to watch the Dukes when it originally aired.
Love the Fairlanes! I had a few back in the day! GOOD to see this one Saved and Drag Raced and Driven to a new Home! Good to see Toni Angelo! and all the Help they get from the Car Community!
Thanks for always giving us great content! Thanks Tony for the help and the vids as well! Have a fun and safe trip with Bailey!
The elbow popping as he was torquing a bolt down was gold
#1 rule for shiny… no scratches! Fairlane is in great shape. Do your magic Derick.
Glad I didn't miss thìs episode. Bunch of cool dudes, right there!
Awesome! I'm a huge fan of VGG & Penn State Engineering! Way to go!
This is the best UA-cam channel. Hands down.
Derek, you ought to name that car the "THE RED BARON". Another awesome episode!
anyone else notice how Derek looked away from the welding at 5:34 then was starring at it without a mask at 5:39
My Most FAVORITE Revival yet! Helps I'm a HUGE 66/67 Fairlane guy too.... Well done!
A feller is excited for this one! So greatful i had the privilege to see this beast in person and meet these 2 legends
Ive loved watching the restoration, and stoked the final video is out. A fellers night is complete.
The storm cell circled back and stalked Derek😂😂😂
My grandpa who was my father figure growing up, old school hotrodder and the reason I ever got into cars was from Cookeville TN. I love when you mention passing through there because it makes me think of him and the wrenching we did. Keep up the amazing work!
Drawing today! Someone is getting a nice Ford pickup!
How do we find out who wins?
They'll tell Derek and he will call the winner and I sure pray I won it
Hopefully me
Any update on the drawing?
Big 👍 for Jason. A true car guy.
Stay Tuned brought me here… this reminds me so much of a my own recent experience. I bought a Buick wagon on Bring a Trailer back in November and my buddy and I flew in and drove it over a thousand miles home. Turns out it had no wipers either (that worked, at least). Luckily we didn’t hit any rain, but we did find some snow. Pro tip: if you find yourself asking “how old are those tires” the first time you see the car, go get some new ones BEFORE you hit the highway! From those of us who only get to do this stuff occasionally (or never) - thanks for letting us tag along.
Derek is the best bloke knows what's the issues of every damn beautiful old school cars and everything it making me felt like one nice old school car to get around for car shows and cruise ❤
Jason is the man. Looks like bulletproof transmissions. I hope it does well for you. Glad you got to experience true Pennsylvanian brotherhood.
Man, the ultimate job. Love your show bro. Thanks Derek.
I have been following the saga of this car over multiple channels now...lol...you and Tony are my 2 favorite automotive channels...coffee walk brings in rear at 3
This is a great video. Jason is a legend. I like seeing a feller get some help from time to time.
The fairlane is a real sweetheart and sounds insane. Probably your best sounding car immediately.
One of my favourite revivals… Derek and Tony is definitely top notch (hats off to Tony for filling you way out of his way making sure you got what needed doing done)
VGG, love your videos! Thanks for all you do Derek and Jessica...
I have been watching for a while and I always enjoy the videos. I think Derek is setting a positive example for the viewers. " your project won't work if you don't"
Nothing better than some quality time wrenching in the garage with buds.
Thank Q for the ride
I absolutely love that car. Fantastic to see it make a come back
Allright, two of my most favorite you tube gear heads on a Friday evening... what a great way to end the week
Wrenching with your buds is what it is all about. Went to the meet & greet, never met you guys, way too many people there and the name drop to Jason (legend) proves you guys made it, congrats. Suck you finally get a good solid car with new engine and trans and you had to fight the weather, nothing is easy.
Another great episode, never disappoints!!! Always learning something new! Thanks Derek and the family!!
I just love all of it Derek. Thank so very much on every level.
That car is so cool. 67 is the absolute best year for the Fairlane.
Wow, what a GREAT guy Jason and Marty are. Must have made THEIR day to have VGG in Jasons garage. He knew his stuff too which is SUPER cool.
