Glad you enjoy it! I don't get youtube's search and still think it's probably me doing something wrong... but hey... I do this just for fun so it's all good ;)
Thanks! I have recorded most of the animation part as well as some more assets in that style but due to health issues, lack of time, and all those other excuses, I haven't yet finished those videos... but they are still on the list and getting closer to the top :)
Thank you for sharing this, i enjoy your simplistic way of seeing things and designing. Re-using simple shapes to create so many different items. You are clever, artistic, and innovative. Much appreciated.
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it! I am [still] working on the animation part of this video - and am contemplating a new video with more characters/ animals, and objects done in that style.
Wow, thanks! I try... I don't get the big exposure and don't do the 'what's new' and 'tool focused' videos... I just like to have fun with the tool. :)
Thanks, will do! I am glad you liked it... and I have no idea what happened with the sound in the other video... Sadly, I can't just replace a soundtrack - unless I turn it to music only... UA-cam is not allowing edits... ;(
@@2dgameartguru Bro It's a bit hard to understand the clipping group on 8:40 on helmet and shield can you kindly write me the steps in order to achieve the way you add details to the helmet and shield? many thanks!
hello, thank you for the tutorial, it would be really helpful if you told us the keyboard shortcuts you are using for people new to inkscape, at 5:28 i had no idea what you did.
I try my best... It's sometimes out of my control as the progressive neural muscular disease I was born with shows its nasty progressive nature. It takes a while for me to adjust to the new levels of pain, the loss of energy, or motor function. It's a painful fight - but there is way too much fun to be had to give up ;)
Welcome aboard! I am glad you liked it. Maybe check out some of the older videos - and spread the word :) New videos are already in the pipeline. The recording part is easy, the editing, narrating, and condensing is the hard [and time-consuming] part ;)
The follow up video is in the pipeline - 1/2 done... but the changes at Unity made me remove the development platform from my machine and I haven't had enough time to practice the character setup and animation in Godot. I might go back to Spine for the skeletal animation.
@@2dgameartguru yeah I love Godot it’s amazing but I’m trying to learn how to use Inkscape and when I’m finished with a peace of work I can’t figure out how to size it properly
how do you fill a shape with other shapes, style I want to make a flowery shirt, I would like to put a bunch of identical flowers inside the shirt, how do I do that?
Thank you for the tutorial! I always look forward to each new tutorial you post and find them quite useful Would it be okay to use some of these tutorials for parts of Vectober/Inktober (following along with the tutorial and posting my result on Twitter)? I want to use Vectober/Inktober as a way to draw more to get used to Affinity Designer so I think following along to tutorials (at least at the beginning) would be a good way to start
Export to PNG. I would suggest exporting the parts and using a skeleton based animation tool [like spine, spriter, or dragon bones]. It's going to be covered in the next video ;)
Hey... Looks far better approach than the other videos which all seem to do frame duping in inkscape to produce sprite sheets. For anyone wondering about the animation approach in the meantime, I found this video (ua-cam.com/video/vLDK0eHwsho/v-deo.html) on doing it with unity, though I'm a bit unclear from that why you split it, as unity seems to rejoin it all again when you add the bones (but maybe you don't need the bones if it's reasonably straightforward?). But I'll have a go with it, see if I can figure it out. You have a great style and unique efficient approach. All the best 😊
Sorry... The narration is a little early. I take the pill shape and turn it into a path [Path > Object to Path] in order to delete the top nodes and end up with 1/2 a pill.
I've been looking for Vector game art! I don't know why youtube never recommended your channel it's awesome!

Best Inkscape tutorial channel. 👌

I didn't use a shortcut. I deleted one half of the nodes [delete key] and straightened the curve [Make selected segments lines in the top menu]
This is very very nice video!
I am glad you liked it. It's one of my favorites as well. :)
This was great. Would love to see your character rigging and animation process in a video.
Coming soon! It's in the pipeline... I have just been sidelined with health issues.

Waited so long for this video 🥰
The wait is over… I hope you enjoyed it.

You select the shirt shape, make it a clip group and place the content inside that clip group.

I would love to but have to check how far fan art can be pushed. I definitely don’t want trouble with Disney. ;)

Thanks... I still have the animation video at the top of my todo list... I can do it in Unity as well, or Godot, Spine, Spriter or Dragon Bones.
One more to add to the list is Synfig Studio and may be the best.

What colors do you use for background canvas?
I set the page and the desk colour to 15% L to keep the focus on the art rather than have a very bright white background.
Thanks!
