Here's the blog article for using Spine in Phaser 3: blog.ourcade.co/posts/2020/phaser-3-parcel-typescript-spine/ Check out the description box for links to the GDC and Rayman videos because they are quite interesting too!
I run into a problem when using spine with phaser + react and whenever the react layer 'soft' change the url within the same domain then if I click back to return the page to the game page then spine is causing the problem with phaser on init. any idea how to solve this? I'm using game config to inject spine into my scene.

I am beginning my skeletal animation journey today and you were my first video. 😊 Surprised at the low views on this video. It was a lovely mix of information and entertainment.
Now if only Spine itself was open source... At least the runtimes are, I think. Also, it's strange to dismiss Adobe Animate because the Flash Player is dead, when the solution you cited was exporting the animations using custom tooling. That would still be possible, no?
Correct. It’s a common misconception, when people hear “Flash is dead”, they assume the animation program is discontinued as well, or they just don’t even know how something like Flash works in general
Thanks! For working with Phaser you can try our blog (blog.ourcade.co) which has a bunch of stuff and this channel has some other stuff too In terms of general gamedev, I like the Game Code Complete book (although it isn't beginner friendly) and Game Programming Patterns book.
Complete and absolute beginner here. Can you hybridize sprites/bone animation? Like if I wanted to make a twin-stick shooter, use bone animation, but have multiple angles for the limbs as the object moves, is that doable?
Hi. I’m kinda excited by this idea, but I want to know how to do such thing using Blender and not using Spine. I’d love to get something like that done in Unreal. Thanks for this inkling idea, SuperTommy!
oooo, can you show us how to make bone animations, top down view in phaser with spine? Also, I am not a graphics artist, are there any free top down view bone packages already made?
The Flash being dead point is null because its only being used for animation. Move or Die(game in the gdc talk) wasnt a flash game. Flash as a tool is as signifcant and usable now as it ever was, just not for publishing swfs online. Dissapointed that thread was cut off like that in the video as it was actually a super interesting method
Hi. Thaynk you for the video. it was really interesting. :) btw: Please yould you list your game dev books from the video background? that would be usefull as well. :) I tried to search about them on your chanel, but you don't have such a video. :)
I'm just here because I want to make an isometric game where the player feel much more in control of the weapon and shield of the character without having to make art for smooth targeting. (infinite angles)
Optimization will be made redundant provided computational power keeps increasing, no? i just, have this little pixel art game, i love doing things the "most efficient" way, but sometimes it gives me pause to consider that all this effort i'm putting in will be recognized and enjoyed by like
"Sprite sheets will make your computer catch on fire". Really? And here I thought that 2024 computers were stronger than the wired potato's from the 80s and 90s.

just found your channel today randomly and it's amazing. you deserve lots of success (views/subs)

1 Question, how did you keep your video recordings from the future after you traveled back in time.
@jonathanpaz9250 👀
I'm bummered that this was all an intro and nothing about how your transition went..
His transition went okay but sometimes he misses his penis
"they'll get to do more of what they love so they'll probably thank me" 😂💀
😂
Flash is now Animate, so you can still do that xD :D hope this helped
I learn so much from you! Thanks for also sharing the process behind how you find your solutions (with awesome storytelling & humor on top).
You are so welcome!

he wanted them redo them for free??? wait i didnt understand what i saw and ur the only person saying smth
Did they not have jokes 30 years ago?
I can tell and in those three decades you never heard a joke either.

Awesome content as always.
You really went all out with the editing on this one!
Thanks! I did and it also took quite a while to edit, haha
Cool! This video helped me out! I was making some crazy good animations recently and didn’t really like the heavy sprite sheets that I was producing
Glad to hear it!
The title made me think you were going to talk about Git and Version Control. Good to know that Spine animations are going to be in the OSZG!
haha, that's more like a real time machine!
谢谢贡献这么好的教学视频,你的视频中讲解技术选择时结合实例让我理解的更加深刻了。
This is awesome. Entertaining and informative
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
the question is how to implement the bone sprite in javascript?

Moho Pro vs Spine Pro, Which is better for 2d unity games animation ?
My issue is . How do I even split an image into parts.
Now if only Spine itself was open source...
At least the runtimes are, I think.

great video you're criminally underrated''
thanks! Glad you liked the video
I live your videos so much! Do you have any website or book you recommend to learn from?

How about using Toon Boom Harmony's gaming bones for rigging? This method was used for Cuphead and Battletoads.
Cuphead? The game notorious for the traditional handrawn frame by frame animation?
Hi Tommy!!! I came across this video while searching for skeletal animation videos
lol, that’s amazing!
Love the humor!

GOD i miss flash. Would love to visit whatever universe that is.
This video is awesome
Thanks!
I still cannot understand why such a amazing piece of ART like Flash has been discontinued, it was an incredible software
made me laugh, doesn't happen usually lol @5:10
2k textures for sprite sheets ? 60 frames 2d animations for sprites ?

It's a bad time to be a expert I. Flash animations
Can we go back far enough to see shockwave and Macromedia in its glory days?
Unfortunately it’s only forward
Could do without the frequent text pop-ups [that's what captions are for ;)], but overall great, informative video.
What i learned: I need to find a time machine.
This is what Rayman origins did with its assets.
the old school method is the best method. like the NES days.
I'm just here because I want to make an isometric game where the player feel much more in control of the weapon and shield of the character without having to make art for smooth targeting. (infinite angles)
Actuall we need Responsive game which it will automatically scale and fit for all devices in phaser
what about Adobe animate?
It is definitely a possibility but I'm not sure how robust the runtime support is for Phaser 3
Pacquiao is a boxer not a gamedev!

i just, have this little pixel art game, i love doing things the "most efficient" way, but sometimes it gives me pause to consider that all this effort i'm putting in will be recognized and enjoyed by like
Yea, it’s only worth optimizing if you need it
Otherwise, the simplest way is best
@@supertommy pretty soon you just.. won't need it. moore's law and all.
thanks for the awesome tutorial btw
well, maybe, we still do all the old optimizations discovered decades ago… it’s just usually done automatically at a lower level
phaser just can use spine???have any other?
I've always used sprites and even tho bone animations are useful, I'm used to creating sprite sheets.
Still sprite sheet-based game looks more appealing, twisting morphing using software looks a bit unprofessional
The timeline where Flash Dethrone Unreal Engine is kinda not bad timeline
🤣
Flash is rewritten in js
Manny pacquiao is that you
Are you looking for a job by any chance?
haha, I'm not but are you working on something interesting?
AS3 was cool, much better than AS2 in my opinion..
Agreed! AS3 has some similarities to TypeScript as well
Many pacman gamedev

Bone animation looks like shit though.
