Clothing has always been an issue for me - especially since losing my right leg below the knee. Over the past two years I've been living primarily in sweatpants - today is the day to change that! 😆 Not that there's anything wrong with sweat pants...because there definitely isn't. But time to become FASHIONABLE (?)!

MY STORY //
Fourteen years of pain and failed ankle surgeries brought me to 2018, when I made the difficult decision to become a twenty-seven-year-old below-the-knee elective amputee. This channel is to document my journey of amputation surgery, recovery, and reclaiming my life.

I use the Ossur ProFlex XC Torsion foot/ankle with a direct socket with passive vaccum suction.

There's something really cute about the skirt or dress look with a high-tech prosthetic leg sticking out the bottom. I guess the stylishly asymmetrical look is easy for you to accomplish!
Megan was on point with the trends. I love the skirt and oversized sweater, also the black leather blazer look was so flattering. You nailed all the looks.

As a person who lives on t-shirts and jeans I find it so impressive that some people (like your friend) can go to a shop, buy a bunch of clothes and combine them to make some pretty good looks.
Also it feels so weird seeing people on clothes stores, here in Greece only the essential stores are open.
Different states in the US are going by their individual governers "rules". I live in Illinois and they just took us back to level 3, which means that most stores will have to close or only allow up to 25% of people in them. Restaurants are closed for indoor dining. You can still pick up food from them though. This starts on Friday or Saturday though. They are asking us to stay at home and work from home if possible. My daughter is a nurse, so she's an essential worker and my youngest daughter works at Walmart and just started college this semester, so she is working as well. So far my husband is still considered essential because he is an electrician. Other states have totally different rules.
@@jodil1209 you are a big country, makes sense to have different rules, even we had some differences until recently and we're tiny, but now we're all on lockdown again...

Since that evening (was it cars) you visited I think this is the first time we get to see you in skirt/dress, I like it! I guess in the summer a nice combo would be the black jacket and the skirt, maybe if you are able to use pantyhose that would be great when you are a lecturer. The superbig yellow hoodie might have worked at home as a leisure dress if you had managed to get some help shortening the sleeves. This was a really fun film, thanx a million.

I did recently something similar with my bff, she gave me a big almost-white pair of pants....the very first almost-white pants i've ever had!! 2 weeks in and i'm in love!!

Besides the sloth my favourite outfit was the one with the skirt! And the dress it's totally giving me Phoebe from Friends vibes! I'm so glad you didn't get discouraged when Brian wasn't super excited with your choices I think my little anxious self would have not known what to do. It's so good to see you so excited about life there was a time where I was worried we might not get to see excitable Jo much long term, especially in that first year after your amputation. Yay for fun!

I love the outfits you got. It really is amazing how much different outfits can change the way we think and feel.
I really liked a lot of those!
The slip dress was a little too oversized for my style preference. A quick fix would be to attach a string/tie on either side where the seams are. You could open up the seam a little or just handsew them on the outside. Then tie them loosely in the back to give a little bit more shape. It would be fairly easy and give a nice result.
I also really love the dark purple/red sweater on you and all the turtlenecks! I was very happy when bike shorts and oversized items came back in style. It is my jam for sure. I also like a good skirt + short combo so one doesn’t need to fear the breeze. Midi length skirts are also pretty “in” at the moment, so you may be able to find some satin skirts or stretchy knit skirts to pair with your turtlenecks and oversized sweaters for a cozy fall/winter look.

Recently I had an idea, it sounds a little weird but here me out. Have you ever thought about wearing straps and tights? I think there are thights that are just a long sock. You could wear one on one leg, and on top some shorts or a skirt. You could still easily acces sunshine and not be too cold on the other leg.

Oh, I can relate to this much with my clothes not reflecting how I feel and especially when barely leaving the house I never wear the good "outside" sweaters, but only lounging sets. Sometimes it does help to get fancy and wear nice clothing as if I had somewhere to be, even when going on a simple walk

Since my sense of fashion is determined by whatever comes out of the t-shirt drawer first, I think you look great in all of those outfits. I've always believed that we should dress the way that makes us feel good, not to please others.

Trying to find your style when you realize you don't really have one isn't easy. You did a great job! The key is finding clothes that make you happy while you're wearing them.. and I've learned a long time ago, nobody else is buying my clothes, so they don't get an opinion on what I wear.

How to get jeans on over my prosthetic, winter wear when you have to shovel the driveway, sturdy outside work shoes or low boots, an athletic shoe to go speed walking in, etc. I love your channel. I love that black jacket. It looks so cute on you. Don't judge. 😂😂 I love going to Goodwill. My dad bought something not too long ago that was a really old baseball bat. It turned out to be worth like $500. He only paid a few bucks thinking it would be fun for the grandkids.

Fashion Tip I've heard over and over; Every woman needs to have a Motorcycle Jacket in her collection. Just about any size looks good. Just keep the colors to black, red or brown, no pastels. And you have something to wear to rock concerts.
Funny you say that, I got mine when I was a teenager, much to my mother's disgust, but I still wear it to rock concerts... although maybe her disgust was more towards it being pretty much the only jacket in my "collection" :D

Do an Amazon search of wide leg dress pants and boot cut pants. The trick is to look for stretchy material. There are sooooo many options that would totally work for you and look great

And skirts are great! At least to me a good length wide (is that the right word?) skirt is warm yet allows for ventilation, I can freely move my legs, and they don't wear out as fast as pants do. The "fashionable" consideration might not be too relevant for the type of skirt I mean 🤷

You look fabulous!!! Husbands like to see us as we are but as women we need to feel beautiful. I am over weight and for years wore clots to try and hide my bulk. But the truth was it was not flattering. Like you a friend I went shopping. My friend was my sister. We picked me out a few new cloths to start and I have never turned back.

I'm footless Lynn. Clothes are a nightmare for me. I'm fifty one and live in leggings and tee shirt. Winter swap over to a jersey.
About your fashion choices, you look your best when you feel pretty, regardless of what you are wearing. My personal preferences are the tailored looks, baggy hoodies do not do you justice or highlight your finepoints. A side note, keep the light source behind the camera, the shadow side makes it hard to see what you are trying to show.
I think they all look really nice on you I understand what you're going through with just the same old baggy jumper pair of jeans just something comfortable
