Great tips mate, I'll keep the ones about wider rivers in mind because I'm hoping to target the Murray a lot more next summer. Loved the edit by the way!
Thanks Muzza. This was filmed a few weeks ago. I keep going to publish it but then I have something different to share instead. Like a good cray fishing video. It's much colder down here now mate. Brass monkey weather!
great video robbie ive just started in the last 6 months fishing for cod in the northern tablelands area and you have defiantly inspired me to fish longer and get up earlier to get that big one. love your videos and hope you continue to make them cheers mate!
Very informative buddy I'm looking forward to getting my first score on the board as I'm down south not as plentiful here especially after the black water flow devasting down here so have a big travel to hope to find the cod. Just need to setup lures on a budget thanks great video buddy
Nar mate dry as a witches tit, it’s getting pretty bad with a lot of farmers not getting crops for nearly 2 years now. On the up side I’m finding a heap of snags in stretches of river I didn’t no were there, their still hitting surface well but just can’t seem to get the hooks in them, I’ve been trying a few new frog style lures, awesome for hits but hookup rate is dismal.
Awesome video and Thanks for the info robbie👍👍 I just found out my local lake which dosent have many fish has produced one Murray cod. If there is one do you think there could be more(it is pretty polluted and I only thought there were carp)? Thank you😄
@@gregv2684 A few years ago I was reading a newspaper article about a pond in China that they drained to clean pollution out of, and they found a 50cm Murray cod living in there. LOL
Great information mate. How do you prevent your surfaces from snagging? I like up in Queensland on the Darling downs, do you know any good places to catch Murray cod??? As I have tried in the best looking places. Could you maybe do a how to fish spinnerbait videos. Tight Lines mate
Hi Elyon, thanks for the comment. Sorry mate but I just do not know that area up there at all sorry mate. As for preventing snagging, they don't actually get snagged a lot unless there is a snag just under the water. I get snagged in trees more than I do snags. LOL
I’m on the darling downs mate, Condamine river fishes well all year round, but you do have to put in a bit of time on the water, what we lack in numbers makes up for in size, good luck👍
@@fishingwithelyon851 Hey buddy I'm gonna have to steer you towards your local tackle store for that one mate because I honestly don't know 90% of what is onntje shelves. Sorry mate.
Old logs and snag piles are the best cod habitat. Clearing the rivers of these for flood damage mitigation measure has done more to destroy cod populations than anything other than polluted water from cotton farming.
Yep absolutely. For decades the rivers were desnagged to help water drain away. All it done was lead to erosion and a severe drop in native fish numbers.
Great info for your fellow countryman 👍 Tip number 2 is exactly the same with pike. A lot of the bigger pike are clever enough to know when it’s worth expelling energy for a big meal. What makes me laugh though is the small jack pike will often hit huge lures that they would stand no chance of eating 🤣 I’m not sure if it’s a territory thing, a learning thing, a natural instinct thing or they are just bat shit crazy with small dog ego 🤣🤣🤣
Pike, often like redfin will strike @ anything that moves, regardless of its size! Check out the vid this fellow Brit did by putting live goldfish in a jar and putting the jar in the water, and how the pike behaved towards them!
Urban Fisho yeah that’s my mates brother Chris, he’s had LADbible after some of his footage. It’s mad isn’t it how the two fish acted differently to each other. You should check out Dom’s channel as well, domfishinguk 👍 that’s Chris’s brother
Well that video was heaps better then your trout tips mate. By the sounds of things you have spent some time on the old cod go on ya, real dinosaur fishing.🤙
Couldn't agree more Robbie. Walk by punters ask me why I'm using such a big lure (or they say to their kids, he has a fish on kids.... Lets watch the fisherman bring it in or he has caught a fish! I'm thinking, "Its my lure you're looking at you dumb dinkers" ). I say I'm after the big ones, so I flick a lure for I'm after chasing rather than a lure that works for "most" fish as I want the "Kingy" of the school!!

Hey Robbie, might be a dim question. But if you're fishing at night do you use a head torch or just try to see your best in the dark when casting?
