Elohim Tzeva'ot, ha Ira Fanecha al avdecha!
Let Your Face shine upon Your Servant!
Thanks be to you and your shul, family and every one who gather with you with pleasure to teach and instruct people to read or sing the Tenach aliyah chanting as the angles singing before the Throne of Hashem.
May Hashem Bless this part of your works greatly.
Happy Chanukah!
This is SO helpful, but I can’t find a video anywhere that goes over each trope one-by-one…only by phrases. 😩
The reason for that is that most people find it easier to learn them in sequences. There are certain tropes that appear in multiple sequences and sound different depending on which sequence they are found in. That's why the sequences are easier to learn.
@@mikeweis64 I get that...for me, for some reason, I am finding it harder.
@@YOGAthletica I know it seems that way, but I encourage you to try to learn the patterns, otherwise there is no way for you to differentiate all the different sounds of Munach or Meircha, and then you're really going to be confused! If you're having difficulty, I recommend sticking with one pattern until you feel more confident. Learn the different combinations within each pattern and master them. Go searching for them in the text like it was a game so that you can get used to seeing the tropes "in their natural habitats." Once you feel confident in one trope pattern, then go on to the next pattern, and so forth.
@@mikeweis64 I did the game! And somehow I did it incorrectly. The phrases I found did not match up with the recording I was given, so it confused me more. I am not doubting your system at all. In fact, I am sure it is very efficient for most of the world. It makes perfect sense. For me personally, I'm just saying understanding one by one helps me more. 🙏
@@YOGAthletica You may want to go back to the person who gave you the recording and ask them to record the tropes one by one then. To avoid the potential confusion of which I'm speaking, you might want to just start with Etnachta. Once you feel confident with that, then work on Tipcha. Once you feel confident with that, then put them together. There's a way for every student, and if that's your way, then go for it. Master each trope individually WITHIN a particular trope phrase, and slowly begin to put them together. Then when you have that particular phrase under your belt, move on to Sof Pasuk. Then Tipcha. Then Tipcha-Sof Pasuk and so forth. You can do it!
Hello im converting im just now in Hebrew and Adult trope class at my shul I love your video very insightful thank you
You have a great approach to learning Cantillation! Becoming a Cantorial soloist and will attend Mifkash Musical at HUC Cincinnati in July 2018. Glad you have put this on UA-cam!!
Glad you like it. Enjoy HUC!
thanx you for the tips !
I think now I will learn faster and (moreover) better and improve really my torah reading 😊
I went to go an retrieve my trusty JPS Tanach, but lo and behold, the first thing taught is the opening line of Genesis. Thank you for making this in depth video!
Thank you for this wonderful teaching
Michael, thanks so much for this video. It’s the best trope teaching video I’ve found out there and is super helpful.
Appreciate the acknowledgement. Glad it has helped you.
This is really cool. Thank you, Michael!
thank you, your recordings and videos have helped me learn several things over the past couple years; I'm now having an adult bat mitzvah in May and this is helping. I hope I can' learn everything by then! :-)
Very nice, I am starting to learn to chant Torah. Thank You,
excellent advice
Thanks for posting this video. This is great for us advanced students, too. I read and speak quite well, but can't carry a tune to save my life. Putting the trope note to the word is the part that trips me up. You are immensely helpful.
Todah Rabbah, Cantor Weis! I am preparing (by learning ta-amei hamikra) to be the b'nei mitzvah tutor at our synagogue and your videos give excellent explanations and visuals.
As a Muslim girl, thank you! Love that our Abrahamic culture History and Book is kept alive ❤
Very nice,,,
Todah raba,,,,!!!
Great lesson! I am a Christian and I bought Trope Trainer Deluxe long time ago but it was difficult for me to understand because I didn't such rules to follow. Now I got it and want to thank you very much for your great work!
Pleased that I could help.
I'm studying for my bat mitzvah and this is helping.
I'm so glad to hear it Maddy. Good luck with everything.
Thanks for the valuable tips.
Shalom
Thank you. Great tips
I was suggest to look to understanding, knowing what each word actually means, so that you chant with a solid form but also with understanding.
Shalom br.
This is so helpful. Thank you! For those of us who are especially"musically challenged," could you make a video where you chant all the tropes through the SAME word? As is tralala trAla traaaaalalaLa?
Thank you again. It is a great mitzva you are doing. Kpl ha kavod!
+VashaMashaS6elaKashu That is a very good idea. I had not thought of that. Thank you.
In around 6 months, ill do the bar mitzvah

Wow! B"H! It sounds Angelical sounds.... S2
Any website recomended to learn and practice chant Torah?
תודה
If you really want to do it right, learn basic Hebrew, then write out the Torah starting with Beresheet (Genesis) in the original Hebrew letters, (the letters do not have to be perfect) not the letters that were made for writing Hebrew.. You not only learn it, but the big thing is, you receive the mysticism. If you already know some Hebrew, write a few sentences every day, (write the vowels out so that you can read it, put the translation of each word above the words that you don't know, then read what you wrote. You have to read out aloud what you read for the full effect. Do this for 5 to 10 minutes a day and see how you feel.
This is helpful. I am on my path to convert to Orthodox Judaism (originally converted to Conservative), and want to get things right, as Torah sounds more beautiful when it's chanted.
Frankly, you're more likely to hear beautiful Torah reading done "right" in a Reform or Conservative setting. In most Orthodox settings I've been in, the emphasis is usually on speed to "get through it." I'm sure there are exceptions to this, and many people may object to my saying this, but it is essentially true. Still, the more you can learn how to do it "right" (and there are many versions of that), the more of a contribution you can make to your community and to Am Yisrael. Kol HaKavod for taking the time and good luck on your path.
Thank you! Love from Islam!
I’m not Jewish, I’m just intrigued by the chants and the language. I just wanted to ask what the “elohim-elokim” distinction is about, and why you said it might be offensive. Sorry I’m just curious
Personally, I believe anyone who prays to Jesus (a Jew) should know his religion. Plus, no amount of knowledge is lost. Christians *should* know more than just their "old testament" - learn Judaism and translations from the Jewish prospective not from a Christian one. HUGE differences.

I wanted to know the answer to this well.
In Hebrew, "Elohim" (אֱלֹהִים) is one of the words used to refer to God in the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) and Jewish prayers.
The term "Elokim" is an alternative spelling or pronunciation of "Elohim." Some Jews deliberately alter the pronunciation or spelling of God's name out of reverence and to avoid using the name in vain, in accordance with the third of the Ten Commandments.
I know all the sounds of the Alefbet and the niqquds, and I've been reading as much Hebrew as I can. I still can't read and stay in time it takes at least two minutes to read one Hebrew word. I keep saying the more I practise the more I'll get faster but I stay the same slow pace.
+Taava Schwarz Take your time with the Hebrew and don't feel like you have to do it at any pace other than your own. Do some drilling of the letters and vowels. There are any number of excellent Hebrew reading resources. I like The Hebrew Primer by Ruby Strauss. Good luck. Keep at it. You'll get it!
It's now 7Oct2021 - and if you have been practicing (with and without a congregation in person) you're better, right? I know how to read Hebrew and still prefer reading along instead of chanting along with those who can't read Hebrew but know verbally by rote.
I was blessed to become a Bat Mitzvah in 2015 - almost 80 yo. Raised orthodox, girls were not called to Torah. So ... am glad I was able to many decades later.
Why is Elohim offensive to some jews and not others?
Is there a web site??
Sorry this is all I have.
What is the CashApp link? You definitely should recieve some money for this!!!
Thanks a lot. I've never monetized it, but frankly, there's no reason not to.

QURAN IS BESTEST BOOK EVER READ IT TO KNOW IT .
Don't spread your stupid religion here.
This video is about how to read Torah. Quran, a copy of the Bible has nothing to do with this video.
I don't understand why some Muslims feel like they have to spread their religion everywhere. I mean, yeah, do your Jihad but think about it a bit. This is literally a video where he teaches us how to read the Torah. Quran reading is amazing as well but it doesn't belong to this comment section.
I agree with you 100%, it is good especially if you have stuffed nose or some sort of an allergy. If you don't, i's possible to pinch your nose as if before diving. Making crying cantillation sounds helps a lot too.
@@guttguty4636 you cant say stupid religion in here we are not saying your religion stupid then shut up.Islam is the best biggest religion all över the world Alhamdullillah we are muslim we will see you all in jahannam !
Yes the Quran is best book everrrrrr
Islam is the real religion
