- Hi everyone in this video i wire up I old dc to dc charger in Dixie, the teardrop, hopefully this will keep my battery charged when driving from now on and I won’t be relying on the solar on the roof. Also I talk about safety when working with 12 V wiring. I hope you all enjoy and get something out of it so that you can have a little bit more confidence when working on your own 12 v gear Thanks for watching stay safe and see you on the next one 🇦🇺👍
Good video Steve 👍
I did my 12v install on my camper trailer too.
I kept it simple with a lithium battery, Solar input, 240v charge connection and several outputs, Anderson's, 12v sockets, USB and USB-C along with a battery monitor. It was a very good project and I learned heaps along the way.
This system has been powering our camping adventures for over 2yrs now without any drama at all.
Steve , thanks for sharing . Enjoyed the video ! 👍👍🍻🍻
Cheers Mark glad you enjoyed. Thanks for your support. 🍻👍
Great job Steve and thanks for sharing your wiring hack👍
Some handy tips Stephen
Good idea Steve, might as well use the stuff you have lying around. Cheers Steve
Would like to see you do a video of what tools you take with you camping/ 4wding in your tool bag.
Cheers mate thanks for the idea. I will definitely get a video about gear I take with me organised

Thanks for the tip's
🍻
Thanks for the Video Steve, I've just found your channel.
I've just scored an old camper with very basic wiring - using that same DCDC - setup for both Solar & Car.
I'm going to gradually re-wire the entire Trailer so some of your tips will help with that. I was wondering if the DCDC needed replacing but probably ot for now (save $$).
I did see it elsewhere but still don't have my head around the percentage displayed on the screen.
In your example - does the 72% represent that it thinks it is 72% of the way through one of the stages of charging (Do we know what Stage)?
Cheers thanks for tuning in. Glad you enjoyed. Yes the percentage thing on this charger is very confusing. It is an old charger and yes it is the percentage of where it is up to in the charging cycle as it gets closer to being fully charged. It gets to 100%. it is not actually the percentage of how much the battery is charged.
Giving Jacks place a go mate on the next long weekend
