I'm Jamaican American and I just have to tell you best Rihanna work cover I ever heard. When I saw you I didn't see color I saw a person with Talent this 2016 and I pray and hope you go far. Rihanna has her way and you have your own way and that's what truly defines a singer to take a song and make it your own. I believe in you, your voice gave me goosebumps.

This girl is getting a lot of flack for westernising the song but I actually really appreciate her not attempting to sing in patois and replicating rhis accent as I find that so embarrassing and cringey, this girl put her own spin on it and I thought it was great. I like this and she really has a freaking amazing voice (that I could never achieve) to me it has nothing to do with Samantha from what I see she unluckily was just placed in the middle of it cause she was one of the very few people that made this song popular with her version because some ignorant people didn't appreciate Rihanna celebrating her culture and made fun of it until she and a couple others came along and was shared around suddenly it's something "cool". I think people are responding more to her ethnicity than her race. And yes. we would be saying the same thing if bey did a bad job (prob worse) it's because the song lacked anything new and was stripped off the personality it had. why didn't she add a piece of her ethnic music to it to make her own. it wa just a bad job.

OFCOURSE there are racial issues that MUST be dealt with but don't you think that this song was covered because it was actually LIKED and INSPIRED her to cover it? Do you REALLY think she was thinking, "I should steal this because it's made by a black artist & then make my own white version for white people" NO I'm pretty sure the odds are she loves the song and could be a fan of Rhiannas. Songs are covered into other genres ALL THE TIME, I think it's cool to see other versions, it's CREATIVE regardless whose singing it. And I'm pretty sure she doesn't speak PATOIS either so she HAD to make her own version in order to sing it. ANYBODY who doesn't speak patois REGARDLESS of their race would have to do that too if they wanted to sing the song. I plan to perform this song myself in my own way because I am inspired and love the song & want to sing it good. Plus it's pretty OBVIOUS shes an upper class white woman that DOESN'T understand black culture nor struggle but there is a DIFFERENCE between APPROPRIATION & INSPIRATION. I don't understand why people are being so disrespectful and rude to Samantha Harvey. This is a cover which is supposed to be someone singing someone else's song but in there own style and artistic choices. She has a wonderful voice so lets leave at that. Both versions are great.
