Actually the lateral drop using a half butterfly sweep is very effective. You have to really pinch that arm in on the overhook sidewalk elbow. You will sweep to the side you have the arm pinched because they cannot base. The key is getting the opposite leg of whichever you have the arm pinched to go between the legs hooking foot right at thigh or knee. You continue the roll through like lateral drop where you can land on top for pin or you will land on top with knee on hip or belly. Fro. There you can control the hips and work up to underhook and head control.

Love this throw. But, not as a go to move. Should be used in the right situation. And as much attention should be placed on the push from the opponent as is placed on the mechanics of the throw itself.

I personally feel like this is a terrible presentation of this move as it's relying mostly on you muscling the guy. It's not as smooth or as effortless as how I was taught. I was the only thrower on the team, and he told me, "try to put your head as close to the opposite foot you throw(i liked throwing over my left shoulder, so i'd aim for my right heel).

This throw is very hard to pull off correctly. If done improperly the person being thrown can land on top of the person throwing. UFC 2 Scott Morris tried this throw on Pat Smith. Scott did not complete the throw and Pat ended up on top of Scott in a mounted position and rained down punches and elbows to Scott's face and neck.

At this point in my career, I will either successfully hit the throw, or not attempt it, as I can feel when it's there and when it's not. With that said, my first several years using it had plenty of failed attempts where I landed on my back. You've got to know whether or not your back-arch will get him off his feet, and that is based on feeling.

And the overwhelming majority of the time this throw is NOT there... which is why it is so hard to do correctly.

Greco is the same thing as freestyle, with less allowed... you shouldn't have a problem if you are at comparable levels. Since I don't know anything about either of you, I can't offer much advice. Good luck.

Can i hit a lateral drop even if he does not push into me if i can get a deep enough overhook,or is it a move that only works when the opponent is pushing?

Easy way to get h him to lean is with a leg tap or inside trip

you can still pull it off. It is easier if he pushed back because you can use his momentum to throw him.

Hi i am going to have a grappling fight next week and all i know about my opponent is that he is a greco roman wrestler and i am a freestyle wrestler so do how can i takedown a greco roman wrestler since i have never faced a greco wrestler?

      OmarTheShit leg attacks

It's definitely more challenging for a greco to go freestyle than vice versa. If you're using greco rules, you just have to keep in mind that all attacks below the waist are out, so focus on your other skills. If you're using fresstyle rules, the greco-roman wrestler is simply at a disadvantage because they will not have as much experience with leg takedowns or the leg series on the ground.

There are more important moves to use your time to learn. Look up the shrug and the over-collar shrug, they work well for heavyweights.

Why can’t u do it in 8th grade lol

  • @justaguy4real

This video sucks. It's supposed to be used differently. When using the throw, it's best when done with a push n pull setup, using some of the opponents momentum against himself. This is not supposed to be a forced throw.

The 'forced' par is when injuries occur..
