the review was done on a ps4 ...and everyone knows the ps4 online is the worst, heck the switch game sharing better and cross play miles better than the ps4, there is no lag if any.

This is more of what we need - fighting games designed for beginning players, ones that will teach them the basics without having to worry about a bunch of other factors. I would have probably never become a fan of games like BlazBlue had it not been for the accessibility of Marvel vs Capcom 2, and hopefully DBFZ will be able to do the same for others

Evolve was a good game at launch great, its the DLC and its later developments that killed the game, the nickle and dime after launch characters ended it
@@jasondp3546 im not sure but this is the guy who got into dbz by blindly playing in supersonic fighters 2 and one of the card. The gameplay is fun and most moves have a lot of detail from source material. I mean if ur new to the series there is a cast is diverse (moveset wise but there are character variants) excluding the dlc. I recommend buying the game in a discount, play it, and make sure you are able to refund it if u dont like it. I guess one major concern is the connections.
I bought it because I recently really got into the manga of Dragon Ball and DUDE...it was one of the best purchases in my PS4 library! Such an insanely fun and challenging game for even a filthy casual like myself... although it can get a little frustrating trying to pull of some of the most complex blocks and cancels, but I'm still having a blast! Truly one of the best fighting games ever 😁

People that are complaining about auto combos may aswell stop playing fighting games. How trash can you be to not punish/block that? Complaining about the servers makes alot more sense. Let's hope they fix that before release.
bungi fish thats the problem, this being a dragon ball game attracted wayyyy too much casuals and non fighting games players who think xenoverse takes actual skill. So when these noobs came against each other and started winning by spamming auto combos they now think they gonna win the next EVO tournament lol dont worry after a week or 2 these guys will get filtered out and realise this more a fighting game with db characters than a db game.
I will say that I own the game and it may not be worth 60, but definitely get it when the price drops like 15 or 20 so you can get the doc characters. There are 3 characters you can unlock in the base game, but it's fight money concept is decent to rival Tekken's or mortal combat currency system. It's a breath of fresh air from capcoms usual fight game monetization tactics.

The same can be said for the game's inputs. Yes the game has auto combos (which if used against a good player will actually make you lose harder since they aren't optimal) and easy universal inputs and easy inputs in general. However, due to how the game is designed, these things lower the barrier of entry for players, *without necessarily dumbing the game down*. The primary depth in fighting games typically comes from how deep the *neutral* game is, which is the state of the game when both are are trying to either hit the opponent, or get in on the opponent to begin mounting pressure against the opponent. The neutral game of DBFZ still caters extremely heavily to skilled fighting game veterans, because the neutral game still retains all of the traditional ASW neutral game depth- instant air dashing, fast dash speed, knowing what beats what in every situation, the variety of tools at your disposal, a system that rewards situational awareness, conditioning the opponent, and having fast hands and reflexes means this: even though the combos and inputs to do the moves are much easier than normal, the actual depth of the game is still entirely skewed towards the most skilled player. In fact, even though the game will be easier to get into for newbies, because the inputs are streamlined, high level players will beat less skilled players even harder than usual, because the skilled player can focus less on the inputs than usual and even MORE and how skilled they are at playing the neutral game and how knowledgeable they are of fighting game fundamentals and theory. This is to say that the reviewer is flat out WRONG that the depth of the game is sacrificed because of the easier execution. This is primarily because even though ASW streamlined the inputs, they still kept the core ASW depth in place, rather than also dumbing down the metagame. Lastly, as the game's technology is studied and opens up and the full depth of the game becomes apparent, it likely will be a game that strikes the perfect amount blend of depth and accessibility, but will ultimately be a game of pure fighting game skill and knowledge. TLDR: even though new fg players and casual players will be able to jump into the game much easier than most other fighting games, they will have entirely NO chance against higher level and high skill players due to the game retaining the core aspects of a good fighting game. This is good. It means it's both a good game that rewards skill, yet will be an accessible one

Wow, you do realize auto-combos do LESS damage than a full combo string? Auto-combos are literally for beginners, intermediate to advanced players use REGULAR combo strings for more damage, like every other fighter. Please get better before saying auto-combo is a ceiling cap.
Honestly if you played the BETA and have a bit of fighting game experience, auto combos and dashing in does not get you high up in ranks. If you're stuck in trash tier and do not want to learn, of course it'll be auto combo hell.
Michael Hatchett He's right though, some characters have moves and different animations that can only be seen in autocombos. The reason autocombos can't be turned off is because they're built-in the game's mechanics. It's not bad by any means but he is right that there are moves only available in autocombos.
Skrt Skrt maybe a 9.5 for a fighting game but is a solid 8.5, this is not a Last of us, metal gear solid, or a zelda, etc, its just a solid 8.5 fighting game
I played it at the beta and after passing through tutorial, I was let down. It was too simple with the auto combos and such....then I played it online and I LOVED IT! I, coming from Blazblue, was expecting something complex but now I understand why it's easier...3 characters. I highly recommend that people get this. Arc System Works did an amazing job.
Just purchased DB FighterZ last evening and I'm not disappointed. Was always a fan of the DBZ Budokai games back in the day, especially the handheld ones. Yet, I love this one even more. It's insanely fast and chaotic. However, except for a few battles, the game was relatively easy for me. Still, I have to hand it to Arc Systems Works. They did an excellent job on the game. There was alot of fan service done on it. This kinda reminded me of Super Dragonball Z but way better. Definitely recommend this one to the fighting game fan.

I love how many competitive gamers hate the combo mechanics but can't argue against the game itself being fun, no matter what skill level you are. This is a game that you can rage at, but come back to with a smile on your face. This is what fighting games should aim for, albeit with a varying pick up and play degree. As long as it's all fun.
add in the fact that bt3 came out in 2007 and it's a fuqin PS2 game... just how much could it have improved in 10 years till 2017.... bt4 would b a legend

I see they perfected my idea of how to convert animation over to 3D format. About time. Not that I could have done it by myself, because I can't draw well, but I ideally knew how it should have been done. Guess they had to got to the Japanese for that.
i think the auto combos are fine it's a good start for people just getting into 2d fighter type games and maybe will want to work there way up to master combos and want to experiment on other types of combos laer down the road
"Low skill tactics are very effective" Have you heard of down circle? Punishes anybody using the rush attack and turns into a combo, so it's not effective at all against someone who puts a few hours into the game. Also Auto Combos are good for beginners, but are trash compared to manual combos.
Game looks beautiful but with brawl attacks such as punches and kicks it looks just not fluid! It looks like they replaced the more fluid animation with a fix photogram for like half a second. I can’t find anything on the internet of anybody talking about it, am I the only one noticing it ?

This not a good review. Nothing was said about sheron or how the game differs from other 3v3 figthing games.nothing on the soundtrack of if the cast is too small or too big,other modes or lack of modes. It was easily the most anticipated game of 2018 and IGN came short. 8.5 is a good score tho.

Literally the only fighting game without auto combos is smash.. everything else has a button you hit that does the work for you.

TLDR: even though new fg players and casual players will be able to jump into the game much easier than most other fighting games, they will have entirely NO chance against higher level and high skill players due to the game retaining the core aspects of a good fighting game. This is good. It means it's both a good game that rewards skill, yet will be an accessible one

Wow, you do realize auto-combos do LESS damage than a full combo string? Auto-combos are literally for beginners, intermediate to advanced players use REGULAR combo strings for more damage, like every other fighter. Please get better before saying auto-combo is a ceiling cap.

Honestly if you played the BETA and have a bit of fighting game experience, auto combos and dashing in does not get you high up in ranks. If you're stuck in trash tier and do not want to learn, of course it'll be auto combo hell.

Michael Hatchett He's right though, some characters have moves and different animations that can only be seen in autocombos. The reason autocombos can't be turned off is because they're built-in the game's mechanics. It's not bad by any means but he is right that there are moves only available in autocombos.

My problem is the amount of characters...
I played it at the beta and after passing through tutorial, I was let down. It was too simple with the auto combos and such....then I played it online and I LOVED IT!
I, coming from Blazblue, was expecting something complex but now I understand why it's easier...3 characters.
I highly recommend that people get this. Arc System Works did an amazing job.

Just purchased DB FighterZ last evening and I'm not disappointed. Was always a fan of the DBZ Budokai games back in the day, especially the handheld ones. Yet, I love this one even more. It's insanely fast and chaotic. However, except for a few battles, the game was relatively easy for me. Still, I have to hand it to Arc Systems Works. They did an excellent job on the game. There was alot of fan service done on it. This kinda reminded me of Super Dragonball Z but way better. Definitely recommend this one to the fighting game fan.
I remember playing an arcade game with this style of fighting as a kid in Mexico....like when I was 10/11 years old. I'm in my 30s and still don't have this game lol I NEED IT NOW!

I love how many competitive gamers hate the combo mechanics but can't argue against the game itself being fun, no matter what skill level you are. This is a game that you can rage at, but come back to with a smile on your face.
This is what fighting games should aim for, albeit with a varying pick up and play degree. As long as it's all fun.

I see they perfected my idea of how to convert animation over to 3D format. About time. Not that I could have done it by myself, because I can't draw well, but I ideally knew how it should have been done. Guess they had to got to the Japanese for that.

i think the auto combos are fine it's a good start for people just getting into 2d fighter type games and maybe will want to work there way up to master combos and want to experiment on other types of combos laer down the road
"Low skill tactics are very effective" Have you heard of down circle? Punishes anybody using the rush attack and turns into a combo, so it's not effective at all against someone who puts a few hours into the game. Also Auto Combos are good for beginners, but are trash compared to manual combos.
