The Black Crowes changed their setlist for every show and their fans loved them for it. They had quite a few great hits with a deep catalog to choose from....outstanding band.
Soul singing, she talks to angels, thorn in my pride, sister luck, cursed diamond, high head blues, nonfiction, downtown money waster, girl from a pawnshop, how much for your wings, wounded bird, locust street, last place that love lives, magic rooster blues, cold boy smile, darling of the underground press, and many many many more are prime examples of what makes the black crowes one of the best and most under-rated, bands of all time.
Thera not a bad song on their first two albums. Shake Your Money Maker and The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion was in heavy rotation when I was in high school and my early 20s.
I love The Black Crowes. Reminds me of playing pool in the bar in the 90s. She Talks to Angles - one of my favorites. You can feel Chris singing every painful note.
The whole Southern Harmony and Musical Companion album is amazing. It's an album full of songs like this. Even if you don't video it, listen to the whole thing.
Southern Harmony might be my favorite album of all time!! By any band! No joke man when I heard that as a young man it changed me. Great song after great song and ends with a Bob Marley cover that’s spectacular!? C’mon man
Hell, even "Amorica" album was "parr-ful stuff." Being an Atlanta-native, I recall that they were respected, but considered 2nd-seat to the band Drivin-n-Cryin. It took "Moneymaker" and seeing how TBC being fully-appreciated by other people to get them their well-earned due at home. A bunch of folks hated that the regionally-anointed modern Southern Rock darlings, Drivin-N-Cryin, never broke huge, and a vocal set of music fans directly blamed The Crowes, and then pitifully blamed Nirvana (in terms of timing) and then alienated an already long-moved-away REM (in terms of "legacy to live up to") Was...Just rough for TBC at home. Both were amazing concerts for me, a High School-aged miscreant. At half-a-century old now, I'd give far too much to see either THC or DnC again...
Yes definitely Zeppelin caliber artists... Hell they have a live album with Jimmy Paige, says it all Drive-By Truckers are also INCREDIBLY underated for southern rock, Alabama Shakes, I can go for days...
This is their best, after that maybe 2 more albums were okay. Then they started to suck and they suck now . Sorry but its the truth . Everybody has their opinion.
I had my hands up, stank face on, receiving the gospel according to The Black Crowes! This was one of my favorite CDs back in the day. Shake Your Moneymaker was in my CD Player for months.
Sometimes Salvation is the song that will march you into Church. The whole Southern Harmony and musical Companion record will knock your socks off brother.
I haven't heard this song in a minute, Black Crows have some really good stuff, love his voice and now I better go break out a crows album. Great request and another great reaction...♡
That "Church Organ" you like so much is a Hammond Organ being played thru a Leslie Amplifier. The amp has one, sometimes two, spinning speakers in a large wooden case that gives it that doppler sound effect.
Blues-Rock Vault that B3 is heard on some many songs of the 70’s , it’s cool to still hear it here and there till this day. A true timeless classic keyboard
Black Crowes! Love these guys & ive never seen anyone react to to them before. Saw these cats on the Southern Harmony tour & a couple times quite a few years later. Great jam band with a lot of soul & great guitars..
I saw the Crowes on 8/1/21. The fact that they played Shake Your Money Maker from start to finish was so AWESOME. Favorite song is Stare it Cold. Some folks said this was filler back in the day. Well they can all kiss my backside. They tore down the joint. Sound was fantastic and the boys were actually getting along. Best show I've seen this year by far!!!
There's so many Crowes tunes out there. They where the reason why I started playing organ at a young age haha. Listen to these tunes by them, Thorn in my Pride, Decending, and Speak no Slave. There's soooo many!!!!!
They had a little HUMBLE PIE SOUND & FEEL TO ME With a little blues and rock mix , BLACK CROWS were one of the best bands of the 90's and from my home state!👍😎
Yeah, Black Crowes are something youn don't mess with unless you're ready. They got SO MUCH SOUL! There is a live version of many other songs, and all are worth the love and soul!
Now I have had my musical ears opened by you, I've never heard this song. Wow, it's amazing adding to my playlist right now. Thank you, we can all learn from each other!
I wish you could have seen them live. I saw them a small intimate venue here in Dallas called the Bronco Bowl. At the time they fell under alternative rock which totally evolved into something else..which i love too. Anyway...one of the best shows ive ever seen. His energy was amazing!!!
Jamal I saw this on your top 10 list and had to check it out. I was familiar with some of the Black Crowes more popular songs, but I have not heard this one before and I am definitely going to check out their catalog. Thank you again for sharing your Love of All types of music
yeahhhhh !!! "My Morning Song" classic,, "Soul Singin",, "Thorn In My Pride" "Descending" they are so wonderful, and live, and one of the best weed concerts, EVER !
The Black Crowes came out of the 1990s with a sound out of the early 1970s. They wear their influences on their sleeves, but their albums are arguably as good or better than those by the bands who influenced them. You can almost pick any song at random off their first 5 or 6 albums and get a great track. Remedy, She Talks to Angel's, Hard to Handle, By Your Side, Hotel Illness, Jealous Again. Too many to list. Great rock from some Atlanta boys.
Love yr reaction, brother man. Please, for your own benefit, Black Crowes, She Talks to Angels; my favourite song of theirs; touches me every time & always makes my body sway slow, listening to the man 'sang' it. Love from across the Pond.
I just came across your channel a week ago Jamal, so am enjoying following you back to the start of your journey into the era of rock music. Back in the late 80’s, my wife used to work at a club called The Point in Atlanta and these guys played there as Mr. Crowe’s Garden. You could tell right away they were going places. I had that experience once before seeing REM play in Athens in 1980. For Southern Rock bands, Athens Scene artists, and numerous descendant performers since have cut their teeth here before breaking big. Long before it became the Hip Hop capital of the world, Atlanta was a central hub for local rock bands and those from surrounding states. While greatly overshadowed by Hip Hop now, thee are still plenty of rock clubs where aspiring artists can try to see if they have what it takes to become recognizable. I’m part owner of club across the street from where the Crowes started and many of us in this city remain committed to keeping rock music alive with fresh new talent and ways to rock out. There’s also plenty of blues and blues based roots rock, as well as all other forms. I hope you are successful enough with this channel to focus on music, especially live and up close, and can leave that day job behind!
My favorite song by Black Crowes is She talks to Angels. Great song about drug addiction, close to death but angels come to you to be the light and I love it!
The Black Crowes are a great band. They have many really good songs like Remedy, She Talks To Angels, Thorn In My Pride, Hard To Handle, Wiser Time, My Morning song and numerous others. They are great musicians.
One of my absolute favorite bands. My first show was in 1992. I highly recommend seeing Freak & Roll Into The Fog DVD or on UA-cam. PLEASE dig deeper into their catalog. You won't be disappointed. Our beloved Eddie Harsch in keys!! Thanks for sharing.

For some reason they didn’t stop fans from gathering there, and we were all waiting for them to exit the building, hoping to meet them or get an autograph, or just to catch a glimpse of them up close (*and* personal, if you were me! Lol ) They didn’t stand around or sign autographs though, just quickly made their way to the bus. I just remember thinking how skinny Chris was...lol

The Black Crowes are full of that good old southern blues and soul.
