Hi there, thanks for the feedback! Golang is an incredibly fast and powerful language suitable for low level programming (kind of like C++ equivalent). Depending on what you're going to work on definitely Golang is a great option. From my research there's not a lot of jobs for that language like Java, JavaScript or Python because Golang is quite specific for high performing applications.
Hi I am a new subscriber. I would love a copy of that book. Also, love the video. Self taught aspiring want to become developer with JavaScript and some Python. You are absolutely correct about Java. P.S. I highly recommend you try out Kotlin it is an amazing language, it has null safety.
I appreciate what you just said, Python and JavaScript are great languages to learn. Kotlin is indeed the defacto choice for Android. But most jobs are for Java and the idea is to make money instead of programming in what you like the most.
@@learn_with_phil Hi Phil, learned how to make a couple of API's with Django. Started late but I've been learning Kotlin for Android. Started to make an Android app today with Kotlin and after I complete it. I will try and make the same mobile app but with Java, I wonder if this is the best way to learn Java? Learn by doing? Java is kind of complicated. Thanks.
Hey Phil! Would the book "OCP Java 17" take me from beginner to Junior-level developer? Also, is it beginner friendly? If not, what books would you recommend?
Hi there! That book is definitely a book that would get you ready to be a good Java developer. It has exercises in it and you can practice what you learn in your dev environment. Besides that, after reading it and practicing it you will be ready to get certified as a Java developer. If you understand programming logic, and the basics of programming that book is a good read, else start with the Harvard's CS 50 course online.
Hey there Irelia! If you're a beginner is definitely worth it quickly get the base concepts. But the best way to lear is always by trying to code in Java some kind of projects. Like a bookstore, or gas station admin system, etc. Publish those projects in your GitHub and you'll have something to show to potential companies that would like to hire you. Lemme know if you have more questions, cheers!
Great video n context brother! I have a question .. there are different versions of Java what do you need to think about when choosing a Java version? Do one always go for the latest ? Or one not so old but yet newer version? Does the company you work for later tell you which version to pick? And another question, with so many online courses to pick from what do you need to look for when choosing a course that is good? Cheers!
That is a great question you should strive for using the latest stable Java versions. If your project is new you will probably go with the latest stable version for Java. But if you’re joining a team that is already running on Java, probably they’re gonna have a version that it’s not the latest, it’s gonna be in there list of priority upgrade Java version. It’s important to use the latest Java versions for many reasons that I want to explain here of course but you should definitely strive to use the latest. It doesn’t really matter what course is the best you don’t need the best course you need a course.
I've been told it's basically impossible to get a Java developer job with no job experience... Is that true? Is learning Java a waste of time if you're new?
Never believe in what other people tell you because the mind of a person that doesn't believe in herself will automatically trick her in thinking the same about you. You can become a self taught developer with Java as well as any other programming language. I would recommend doing a CS50 course together with so you learn the computer science fundamentals. Then start applying for Jr. position jobs showing them example projects that you developed.
I am a senior Java developer with 15 years of experience. I want to Start as a freelancer, may I know how and where to check and how to start the work.
Hey there to help you organise I would get an app called Notion or Evernote and structure all the topics you want to study. That will give you a sense of progress and trackability. Once you structure the things you wanna learn, start going through them. I believe that in 6 months studying 8 hours a day you can be ready for a Jr. Java Developer position.
I really loved this video. I just started watching your channel today. Do you know any specific online course that covers all this topic ? If you can, please suggest some of them.
There's not going to be a ONE course covering all but definitely there will be MANY course covering each one of them. My suggestion is starting with the things I talk first and following that order of learning. And keep working on side projects and doing interviews with as many companies you can. Not passing an interview is not failure, it is part of the learning process. But not doing them, it is.
I've been studying Manual QA but also learning Java on the side because later I want to become an Automation Engineer. Do I need to go back and learn the CS fundamentals? Also, I plan to pick up Kotlin and become an Android developer after that.

Can i get a job if i will learn these skills. Actually I am fresher. I have done projects using java, jsp, html, css, servlet, jdbc, mysql these skills are outdated
Definetely! These Jr. skills presented here would easily open up the doors for you to land a Jr. position in any company that uses Java as their main language.
I do not disagree, but so funny how programmers do things and as from sys ops we try to contain your programming crap and ensure the system is secure plus with network Stuff not sure you guys know how all that works. For example why is a Cisco 9200 switch needed and why is a Linux pc not doing that, why is SELinux mandatory? Programmers even though I dip toes in it has no clue on how or hardware to scale on your apps on your dockers are seamless and just works. That is what sys and network engineers do
Actually Java is 3-rd most used not 4-th. And Typescript/Javascript is the first most used and Python is second most used. Get more accurate statistics.
The coggle presentation is very informative, but can you inform us of the best place to acquire the knowledge? Like the best place to learn about Java, or Maven, etc.

I want to be developer in 2024
I do not disagree, but so funny how programmers do things and as from sys ops we try to contain your programming crap and ensure the system is secure plus with network Stuff not sure you guys know how all that works. For example why is a Cisco 9200 switch needed and why is a Linux pc not doing that, why is SELinux mandatory? Programmers even though I dip toes in it has no clue on how or hardware to scale on your apps on your dockers are seamless and just works. That is what sys and network engineers do
Please give me the book sir :( i am new to programming so it would help me alot to get me my first job.
I will select the winner by using as random generator in Java once I hit 1000 subs.

Actually Java is 3-rd most used not 4-th. And Typescript/Javascript is the first most used and Python is second most used.
Get more accurate statistics.
Really appreciate your comment. I got the data from the Tiobe index. Different sources, slightly different outcomes.
@@learn_with_phil You deleted my reply to you?
The coggle presentation is very informative, but can you inform us of the best place to acquire the knowledge? Like the best place to learn about Java, or Maven, etc.
Really appreciate your comment, I will try to make other videos on how to actually learn those skills. Thanks for the feedback.
