this was honestly fun to watch lol, really insightful, realistic and fun I'm still a student so my morning routine is wake up by 6am, bath, spread my bed, have a cup of coffee while listening to a podcast and then classes until 4pm then assignments and etc until like 1am lol. I don't even have a desk setup...yet, just one more year of College left anyway
hey Akebu! I am positive that with your routine you will be a solid software engineer. I see that you're motivated and really putting time into it. What kind of podcasts are you listening to?
@@learn_with_phil I mostly listen to self-help and motivational podcasts. I need that extra motivation to start the day Thank you, I do hope I can actually be one. The whole journey so far has been crazy intense

Heeey Bek what's up brother? Yeah my routine is quite hard, sometimes I wake up even earlier to run in the park or just work on my UA-cam channel since it takes a lot of time and effort to edit these videos. Back in the days I was waking up at 9, which is quite normal for a software engineer, so don't worry. Your future as a software engineer will hopefully not be as hardcore as mine 😁

My only question is how are you able to only use one monitor for dev work, especially for 10 years... I can't stand anything less than 2, and ideally I'd want 3 which is how I've set it up at home while working remotely. Anyway, subbed. Would be interesting to know more about how you do testing, maybe project structuring among other things.
Hey what's up! I usually use two monitors. One is the laptop screen and the other one is the main monitor for the code. During those 10 years I've worked with all kinds of set ups... 3 monitors, one monitor, small monitors, huge curved monitors, vertical, horizontal, you name it! Kinda found my perfect setup now with two monitors and I am able to be really productive that way. Laptop screen + 2nd 27'' monitor horizontal. I guess for you its hard to travel and work with those 3 monitors isn't it? When I travel I take with me a portable second monitor to be able to work effectively while on the move.
@@learn_with_phil Heya! It's great that you've had the opportunity to experience so many monitor setups, and ultimately found out how you are the most productive. Laptop + 27" monitor is a lot better than just one for sure, I've had to work like that for a few months and unfortunately it wasn't for me. I haven't tried too many monitor setups, but since I've always used 16:9 monitors and the ultrawides aren't too appealing to me, I decided to go with 3x 27", one of them in portrait mode and it works great for development. And yeah, I can't imagine traveling with 3 of these monstrosities, haha. I rarely travel but when I do, it's usually only the 16" laptop which pales in comparison to the home setup, would probably be a good idea to have an external monitor for those cases like you. Cheers!
I was a Java developer about 13 years ago. For some idiotic reasons, I just left programming completely until 2024 November, somehow I feel like coming back. I feel I've wasted my life by stopping programming. It's a pain to start all over again considering how far technology have moved. I feel sooo useless.

Looks like java developers are working only 2 hours a day and messing around rest of the time :) Cool! I definitely wanna go to this java developer boot camp lol.
I wouldn't say 2, but something like 4 hours of code per day. It is what it is! Coding is more about being focused and relaxed, if you in the "flow" you will get the job done much faster and get to do whatever you want the rest of the day. A Java bootcamp is definitely a great way to go. Or if you want something cheaper, get the Effective Java book and do all the examples. The start learning the Spring framework and building a sample book store application.
