My first new boat was a blue and grey 1990 Margay with a 115 Evinrude! 16.5 ft! Hp rating was 120 back then! It was fast 61mph! They are bigger now with 150hp rating!
That’s impressive! I’m not familiar with Evinrude gauges, and I can’t really see them in the vid on my phone. I can see the GPS speed though, and that’s smoking. I’ve touched 70.0 in my Sabre/175 with a 24 Fury, but that was with about 8 gallons under the seat. You’ve got the fastest Margay I’ve ever heard of. The hole shot is quick even with a 28. People with other brand 18’ class boats might be embarrassed if they see this. Helluva boat and setup you have!
@@jgringo5516 In Australia also, Different set ups for sure noticed it with Skeeters, Rangers and Phoenixs boats. WE all seem to be able to spin bigger blades. It goes quicker in the salt too. But ive seen vids of other margays doing 69mph just need to search. One thing ive noticed with the margay it gets to a point that it gets crazy walk but once you get past that its a dream to drive.
I had a stratos 18’10” dual console with a fast strike johnson. Ran steady 68 and 70 when it was cold weather.

Wow! That’s fast... My Margay is maxed out at 65MPH with a HPDI Yamaha.
