It oddly enough looks like the Dark Mind Core from Kirby and the Amazing Mirror… The Kirby series has had its fair share of eldritch bosses, but I digress…
Say hello to the GODFATHER of R-type and Axelay gameplay, SNES, and Truxton, megadrive, Raptor :Call of the shadow gameplay on MS-dos. all united in one game in .... 1987! Probably a good 3-4 years before if you consider time for programming of all these... Great gameplay, as always, thank for granting us with such quality videos !
What happened to the 4th stage background music to great arcade classic?... I need to hear Starfield's catchy, upbeat theme right about now 🥺... Other than this minor flaw, this is definite a welcomed vintage edition to my home's arcade collection
The Count from "Sesame Street": Nine! Nine lives lost in 48 seconds! Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah!! (Thunder crashes) You just wanna "Vietnamise" the game don't you?!
Okay final boss really pissed me off even if it is the Arcade. Heart of Zealos didn't have it's guardian SERPENT DRAGON as it's last line of defense. Sure there was a Dragon in the flame burst zone. But the Serpent Dragon was supposed to protect that giant alien orb known as heart of Zealos as it was the core of the planetary "Beast" 😡🤬
The NES version used the "salamander" version of the levels/sprites (even though it called itself life force), the games are mostly identical sprite swaps of each other anyways, just life-force has the more gradius-like upgrade system.
15:48 I love the "Bwaaaah!" scream upon defeat lol! They do the same in Gradius 5 in the first level where there were a whole bunch of them.
Thanks for the comment, I had never noticed this in Life Force! 😄😄😄

2:58 The Brain Golem, later makes an appearance as in a Boss Battle in _Kyūkyoku Sentai: Dadandarn/Monster Maulers._

Nothing like a good Space Shooter to pass the time.
Subspace shooter... This takes place in a human body... allegedly.

a thing worth noting is that salamander had a ova made
As a wee baboo, I thoroughly enjoyed the addictive upgrade process
Smart monkey…
Have this on the Switch, but dang gum it, I keep dying! Never make it past that first level.
can't believe this game turned 35 already

It would take ten cans of energy drinks for me to get through this. The Intruder looks like 👁
Best of time's. Enjoyed an hope you have a great week Brother
Salamander with different colors? 🤔
You need a flow chart to keep track of all the games in the Salamander/Gradius family.
@@steve43ful I rather play Uridium on my C64 😜
I'm surprised the AVGN isn't chronologically confused about it yet.
And the levels are arranged differently, and this version gives you Gradius-style power ups instead of modules, and…a bunch of other new stuff.
my head hurts watching this, I think I know why

LifeForce!
i just realized i've never seen the arcade version of the final boss. just the much simpler nes version.
I only love the US Version of Lifeforce Arcade in my opinion

One of the best NES games ever
So this is where Parodius got its Hawk Wind from...
not really, the MSX port of Salamander did it first

hey bro
metroid SNES version gameplay please
thankyou
I remember you could use the Konami Code to get 30 guys in the NES version.
I've tried the code to get 30 man in the NES version but it never worked. Tried it in Contra and it did give me 30 guys there.
@@sdlock83 Odd, always worked for me when I tried it on the NES.
Hmm, the NES version was... "less organic" than the arcade, it seems. These bosses are clearly made out of meat.
Nintendo censorship

простите...а в чём отличия этих игр?Salamander...вот эта LifeForce и Gradius
Если правильно понимаю, это из разных регионов. Аналогично как Контра/Грайзор/Проботектор.
