- Today we upgrade to Windows 11 on old computers without losing programs and data. If you are one of the millions of people that have an old pc with unsupported hardware for windows 11 and can't afford a new pc and want to continue using that pc with Windows 11, then this video is for you. If Windows 11 is installed on ineligible hardware, your device won't receive support from Microsoft, and you should be comfortable assuming the risk of running into compatibility issues. Microsoft don't recommend using Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.

When everyone see's the video clip of the guy from microsoft explaining what Microsoft wants Copilot AI to be to the user they wont want a copilot plus pc anymore. According to the microsoft representative they basically want this AI to know you the way your spouse, friends, and family do. They want it to see what you see, hear what you hear, remember what you did last, remember what you talked about about last, know what you you need to get done, know when you enter a room, know when you leave your house, know where you go, know what your thinking, know your hobbies, know your interests, and know your emotional state. When i heard the representative state all this i was floored.
I figured it out even before they made the video. Good comment, people need to be aware of this.
Now im gonna go see if i can find that video but i bet they are obscuring it....

@@jameshurley224 Yeah I wonder after Win 10 expires if M$ will send an update to unsupported PCs bricking them after an hour of use.
People will just run Windows 10 past the support deadline and get 11 when they buy a new computer. The average person doesn't know or care enough to keep their PCs up to date.

Hi Brian just did that for a customer today funny enough. I did the registry way mosetup and cmd. Worked like a charm😄 With the popcnt I loaded 24H2 on a Lonovo G50-48 AMD A8 which was my other laptop and it worked fine with updates surprisingly

after waiting a bit I finally attempted this method for updating to windows 11 from 10 on my 12 year old PC and it worked perfectly first time, my advice to people is give it time to do it's thing, at least an hour had gone by the time it finished installing and restarting my PC several times, also my upgrade is okay with latest updates as one installed today. 😊😊

Happy New Year Brian, all the best for 2025. Thanks for all the great videos they are so helpful to us all. My computer does comply with the requirements for upgrading to windows 11 after managing to enable TPM.2. I haven't upgraded yet but where do I find the TPM 2.0 recovery key for windows 10, although I have a Microsoft account but I don't log in with it - only local, so the TPM 2.0 recovery key is not saved in my account. That key is necessary if you ever forget your password, or the data saved in your TPM gets wiped, otherwise it'll remain a scrambled collection of 1s and 0s resulting in having to do a clean install of windows

Well I did put Windows 11 Pro on my Dell Optiplex from 2010 and it works fine. Got a SSD of course but yes, it is on this14 year old computer.

I don't understand? You uploaded a video a couple of weeks ago telling people NOT to upgrade to Windows 11 24H2 because of current issues Microsoft has to fix. Wouldn't this be worse for unsupported PC's?
Yes, this is for people who want to upgrade to Windows 11 on unsupported hardware. Its a How to tutorial. clearly states in video know what your getting in to. People ask for this video and I made it. Don't mean I say do it, I clearly mentioned in video description and video. I don't have old hardware, so this does not apply to me, but as a how to tutorial channel, I make videos on how to do stuff, does not mean I am saying do it, hope this clears things up for you.

That is always possible by Microsoft, hence why they warn you "Not Recommended" you won't receive updates. As of today you receive updates, but this can change at anytime. But some people will take the risk because they can't afford a new pc.
Why, if its unsupported hardware then you'll get no security updates anyway. Don't make sense to swap if its going to be the same as win10 as well... exactly what benefit would i receive from another unsupported system? Im probably gonna just move to linux and run a windows system in a virtual mode for the incompatible programs...have you noticed that the agreement also is a disclaimer about damaging your hardware? I expect them to start bricking those older computers to get you to buy a new one....screw microslut.

As of today, you still get security updates on unsupported hardware, but that don't mean they wont block them in the future
Currently, the only updates that unsupported machines don't officially get are feature updates and those can be done manually with a server install. I don't see Microsoft disabling security updates until Windows 11 expires. Microsoft has too many business clients with unsupported systems and even if it isn't their fault, they don't want to be linked with a major security problem.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how is this different from the method in the video you posted a week earlier?
I skimped on the processor when I ordered my Lenovo ThinkCentre M73 in Aug 2014. I note anything 2010 and older won't be able to support Windows 11. I wonder if Windows 11 will run on an Intel Pentium CPU G3240 @ 3.10GHz? Thanks.

I have installed windows 11 home (clean installation) on unsupported hardware using rufus options. I have only one issue with my laptop; although wireless network card works initially, windows 11 updates driver and then wireless network card stops working. To make it work I have to uninstall driver and reboot, so windows reinstalls the the downgraded driver. But a few minutes after reboot windows updates driver and card stops working. How can I prevent windows from updating the wireless network driver only, but keep other update settings standard?
Looks fairly straight forward, I will admit I am a bit nervous about going through such a process to update my old laptop to; The new windows.
I might wait or rewatch the video to understand the process. Cause I don't want to screw anything up.

Don't do that, my friend did this. MS locked his lock screen with a full page message to pay to unlock it. He lost everything.

In fact that didn’t work either, repeated download failed messages. I think I’ll just stick with Win 10 😊
Final update, got it to run eventually, Win 11 installing, got to point where it said rebooting your system and was presented with “no boot device found” 😂😂😂
Further edit in case anybody reads this and has a similar problem. Had a look around Bios and found that the SATA configuration had been changed to RAID (how, why, who???) switched it out of raid, rebooted and the Windows 11 installation completed without a further hitch, go figure 😊

I like to use Rufus to upgrade old PCs with & without TPM & without losing programs. No need for 7 Zip.
My thoughts as well.
Use what way you like best, this is just a tutorial of how to bypass unsupported hardware.
5:30 POPCNT was introduced in 2008 so the 2010 CPUs are OK

'UPGRADE FAILED.' This morning I am trying a different process.

Use CPUZ to check your CPU has SSE4.2 and up, its not that difficult.
Ive got 2 computers brian. The new one is slated to revert to another os and the old one i want to turn into w11... But can i do it... Its from 2015 and only has around 345GB memory left. 🤔
You can easily do it, that PC is not that old. Watch some video's on how to install Linux Mint OS if its a desktop, I would buy a secondary SSD to put it on, dual boot with 2 different drives.

Try a different method, there are many, don't give up on your first try. First check your cpu with cpuZ and check for SSE4.2 and up. If you don't have that, install Linux Mint OS.
Great video Brian. I think my old computer won't be able to run 11 anyway. A laptop from 2012 with third gen I5. Just a brief question. Would the Optimizer program you recommended a long time ago be suitable for removing these features as well?

Its too old to upgrade to 24H2 because it lacks the POPCNT instruction. Your choices are to remain on Windows 10, upgrade to Windows 11 23H2 or move to Linux.
These videos are so confusing 1 day it is Windows 11 not on unsupported computers, next day it's Windows 11 can be installed on unsupported hardware, then next day it's Microsoft has changed their mind again, rinse and repeat. lol
Microsoft are not supporting Windows 11 on unsupported hardware, this video is not that confusing. if you want to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware, it clearly states not recommended. it clearly states that in video description and in video. Do this at your own risk and understand what your getting in to. Pretty simple

Microsoft has officially dropped its opposition to upgrading unsupported hardware - they’ll still give you the usual caveats and warnings on why you shouldn’t go ahead and do it but the difference now is they will no longer actively block and disable workarounds to get Windows 11 installed on an unsupported PC. That will make things a lot easier. 😊

I have a question about this. I have an HPDV7 entertainment laptop that was purchased in 2011. I am currently running Windows 10 pro on it. I have upgraded the hard drive from the old mechanical drive that was 640 GB to be a one TBSSD and added a second Old mechanical drive in the second bay that is one TB and I have upgraded the ram from the original eight GB to the maximum my system can handle which is 16 GB. Everything else is original to the model too when I bought it. This model needless to say does not have The TPM module at all because it didn’t exist in 2011. Can anyone tell me if my machine will be capable of being upgraded to Windows 11 Pro 24H2 like this is showing or can someone possibly point me to something I can read to see what the requirements are for this workaround to work successfully. I am not jumping immediately to do an upgrade like this on my machine right now as I have two newer machines by leaps and bounds, they are newer, but this machine is still in champion, thoroughbred form functionally, and I would like to know what my options may or may not be with this machine.

22H2 is the last version for Windows 10.

@@franciscohorna5542 bro check your CPU with cpuZ for the instruction SSE4.2 and up, if you don't have that, you can not install Windows 11 24h2. Your other choice would be Linux for that PC.
