Rob Brown really has developed a "Zen" approach to drumming that all of us can relate to. A "Buddha" of drumming if you will. It's like Rob has made it to the top of the drumming mountain and has returned to share that enlightenment with those who can grasp the concepts. Thanks for sharing that knowledge with us Rob!! Best of luck with your ongoing journey.
Rob is the man been watching him for a long time, also for being a drummer for 20 years i finally learned how to tune my heads on my own and the way i want it to sound. Rob your a blessing for not just new drummers but for the experienced too!
No he didn't. Not at all. He just taught drummers to be more cautious of overplaying. Plus, he's speaking from the perspective of a session drummer. Not every drummer has to play like that and only an arrogant one would ever thing "my way is the RIGHT way!" Also, just thinking chops drummers even need to be roasted just makes you seem arrogant as well
2 years old but I love re-watching this whenever I feel like I'm taking my students on unnecessary detours. Rob Brown is one of my favorite resources for drum material! His style is totally different than mine but I wish I had half his attitude
Absolutely love his Drumming and Groove ! In all my years of drumming I’ve never been hired to play drum solos….not that a well played tasty drum solo isn’t cool…but I don’t recall seeing people dance to a drum solo 🤘🏻
This man always articulates my thoughts/approach to drums/song writing far better than I ever can. Forever groove and pocket > chops/flash. (Mad respect to the chop/flare folks cause it is entertainment)
I love his style of teaching so much. And I'm eager to get home and try this. I recorded myself playing Nothing Else Matters and Animal I Have Become. Neither are that hard. I've been playing like 3 months now, and you'd swear it sounds like nothing else was recorded day one with my pocket difference. In the faster beat, I sound decent, but with the slow 6/8 of nothing else matters, omg. It's horrendous; I'm just all over the place.
The off beat fill drill with the click on the up beat is brilliant. You just opened up a whole new world of ability for me. I learn so much every time I watch you.

My drumming sounds A LOT tighter. Bob Brown is my favorite online drum teacher by FAR! Thank you, Bob. Greetings from the Netherlands.
This man right here has single-handedly saved me several painstaking hours of tuning drums. Used to use a Tune-Bot to tune my whole 6 piece kit and it would take me like 2 or 3 hours to make sure every lug on every drum was at the same pitch, now I can get my whole kit done within 30-45 minutes if I have them all right in front of me and not running to and from room to room. I'm so excited to see more lessons that Rob "Beatdown" Brown has filmed with Drumeo. So very excited!!
Street drummers have been doing this for years - showmanship is usually needed for tips. It's not the same as bands or session work. It simply has moved over to social media - everyone's a street drummer on the internet.

He's not crazy ,he's good.hehe.
Finally Rob!!! Love the t-shirt👌🏼and of course the groove.
Go to Rob's website and get the merch - support one of the best drum teachers on the internet - Giving all this information away for FREE!!!!
I bought one of those t shirts from his online store. Sweet.
Rob is the man been watching him for a long time, also for being a drummer for 20 years i finally learned how to tune my heads on my own and the way i want it to sound. Rob your a blessing for not just new drummers but for the experienced too!
Rob Brown just went up and casually burned entire chops community lmao i love him
Meh, chops are overrated 😅😅
Because fuck them
No he didn't. Not at all. He just taught drummers to be more cautious of overplaying.
Plus, he's speaking from the perspective of a session drummer. Not every drummer has to play like that and only an arrogant one would ever thing "my way is the RIGHT way!"
Also, just thinking chops drummers even need to be roasted just makes you seem arrogant as well
St Mindless yea, to people who don't have any LOL
We all could be better drummers if we had both. Your attitude sucks
@@HugoStiglitz88yes!! Thank you. This is exactly his point. 👍🏼👊🏼
I've been playing for years, and every time I watch "Flamuel" I learn something valuable. Thank you Rob.
Awesome drummer. I like his channel. Everyone should listen to this , because if you can't play in the pocket , you can't play.
That 6/8 click at 120 BPM on the upbeat broke my brain for the day.
Too few comments about those off-beat exercise

When you're so locked in that pocket, the splash decided to groove with you without you hitting it lol.
How?
Yooooo what the fuck? That is some paranormal shit right there.
I heard it too and in 37:29! 😱
The splash cymbal is mounted in the tom Bracket connected in the bass drum. So it moves when rob kicks the drum.
@@paulregalado30 Yeah realised, just messing about haha.
Rob Brown! His tuning vids saved me 🙌🏼
My favorite drum video.
I love the way Rob Brown thinks, all super helpful.
I can't play anything with 8th notes that sounds good
"First of all, stop being a sucker" lmao
Rob BEATDOWN Brown! What a pleasant surprise! Kudos to Drumeo for having him!
It's nice to have Rob at Drumeo!
Agreed! I hope you enjoy the lesson 😎
@@DrumeoOfficial My Drumming level will always be at Anika's Drumming Level. It's as good as it can get for me🤷🏽♂️, U can never Reach DragonForce Killer Elite Speed Metal Level Drumming 99,1830 number settings it's ultra hard settings.
Rob I'm a teacher by nature and have taught many years about many things. When it comes to drumming you are a phenomenal teacher. I can follow you very easily and you make drumming make sokook much sense. Especially why you do a certain thing on the drums when it comes to sticking, fills, the pocket, timing, rudiments, I love what you do. Keep it coming man.
Thank you so much.
finally... someone who plays music. not just going nuts in the drumset.😂😊😊
This guy is a good drummer and teacher!
He's so right when he says that a good musician makes good decisions. That often means the decision not to play. Look at Mark Knopfler
Loved hearing Rob tell the truth.
It's all about pocket and groove.
@15:15 "there's nothing I can play thats gonna sound good with 8th notes - it's boring... First of all, stop being a sucker, alright?" GOLD
My foot works way better since I really play from the foot. My drumming have improved in a few days more than in years. Be course I always kind of forget my base drum. My drumming sounds A LOT tighter. Bob Brown is my favorite online drum teacher by FAR! Thank you, Bob. Greetings from the Netherlands.
I am a drummer and I learned a lot from this channel..
Thanks : d
Glad to hear it! 🙂
42:34 golden words. Rob is a true man
He's so deep in that pocket that he's tickling his toes.
Rob Brown and Drumeo together! Two of my favorites.
"Music includes the silence between the notes. Like space between molecules" - John Frusciante
Could not agree more. Connecting with the bass player and laying down a foundation is what I am called to do 90% of the time. Great lesson. Thanks!
The algorithm knew I was struggling with the pocket today 👀
My FAVORITE online Dude!! I have learned SO much from this guy, he explains things in a very simple way/very easy to understand yet he’s a BadAss!
" I would rather be told to play more than to play less"...…Spot on Rob!
"The internet... has almost turned drumming into a spectator sport." "Drum-Olympics". SO TRUE. It's supposed to be art, not a sport.
Street drummers have been doing this for years - showmanship is usually needed for tips. It's not the same as bands or session work. It simply has moved over to social media - everyone's a street drummer on the internet.
Thank you SO much. Been off from performing for many years. This lesson helped and boosted my confidence. Really enjoyed hearing you play and teach with such clarity.
