Yes of course you can! I use my mobile data or the wifi at my work to check my home from work. I was ckecking my house during Christmas holidays from 400 km away. Also you have full control (rotating camera etc) and if you enable the motion detection it is sending notifications to your smartphone wherever you are!
Hi ! The version of Mi home is the 5.0.16. I am in Europe (Greece) but I have set up the location as China Mainland. the server is the recomendend from the app, the U.S. (I believe that it recommends US because of the language setting, which is english, once there is not my native languge in the app). You have to choos the China Mainland as location otherwise you are not going to have full functionality of the camera. (In use there is no difference, I am in the other side of the planet and it works perfect. The chuangmi camera with the same settings works perfect too)

Check the server. You have to choose the mainland China server.
