I have a 1.8 1997 rd1 in malaysia, have done 361,000km, no major problems, currently in progress of bolting on a turbo! Can't wait to rip the streets again
Hey from Brisbane OZ! I have a '98 fx 2.0l 5speed bought in 2017 for $500 it had 1 captured disc and one sensible. picked up another sensible setup for $40, poly bushes, struts, 2 MATCHING discs, ball joints, tie rods etc. 8.9 litres/100km. Removed all before std. intake box so she can breathe. 4xFED RSRR's on original alloys( i need 2 hub caps) have her driving nicely. Her oil is lucky to see 10000km. I don't baby her often but she's stock & still goin' strong at 211000km. Parts are getting hard to find & shipping from the uk? Forget it. If i could afford that she'd have a full resto with invisible mods What DID i do before RSRR's only $150 here, i hope there legal street, i think they are........
I have a 1.8 litre worked to a 2.0 litre. Hi Tech headers Hight flow catalytic converter with a 2 5inch straight through to an R34 Skyline cannon. Heavy duty clutch all new slave and master cylinder, Goes hard. Gets well looked after.
Thanks so much for this video. It's great to hear someone with great knowledge of the 97 Tib. My sister got a 97 new . Its a 1.8 4 cyl . After 5 years use then a couple family members using it was handed to me. I have had it 11 years and dealt with all repairs haha. Its a great 5 speed. Just had a total exhaust done. It gets up again in stead of crawling haha. Shox and struts soon. I still have the original wheels on it surprisingly . Trying to decide if i want to upgrade the brakes. Is it possible to ugrade to disc brakes like the 98 option? Only 197,000k and going !
@@maestratv2689 Not very practical for passengers and cargo and parts availability is a bit of an issue in PH. But otherwise not a bad ride to drive around. Test drive one and see. I still maintain that a small hatchback like a Wigo or Mirage would be better as a first car
I share the exact same opinions on everything you mentioned about this car. Beautiful upholstry work! I see you have an Elantra Wagon with Spoiler. I do as well, doing a 2000>1996 body conversion (got the 2000 because it was the only year offered with a 2.0L), 5-speed, as well as a Tiburon (auto-manual conversion)! Gorgeous cars, practical, comfortable, fun to drive!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these cars. We want to go the other way with our Wagon, convert it to the MY 99/00 front. We never had the facelifted Elantra in the Philippines.
sir saan makakabili ng parts ng coupe 2000 outomatic. sira kasi ang starter nakailang bili napo ako ng starter. pero malimali ata nabili ko palaging masisira eh.
Estimated fuel consumption sir? Planning to buy for a daily car as college student highly appreciated for your answer sir from ph and any suggestions how to convert auto to manual
Like driving a V6 sedan, which we also have lol. A subcompact like a Getz, Picanto, Wigo, etc. would be better and more practical for a college student like you. Best to just buy a car that's a manual already. But it can be done.
Great video . . . Honestly, I really jealous because in our country , just available in the separated lamp version ( three holes lamp ) rather than united lamp 😭 ( I know it's facelift but i Loved the head lamp from the Pre-Facelift 😭 ). Salam dari Indonesia 🙏
Hard for me to say hehe. Depende sa requirements mo. A small hatchback like a Picanto or Wigo etc. would be more practical as a first car honestly. Di ko ito ginagamit araw araw

Ask your mechanic to check engine supports
