Happy New Year Des! Aside from having a speaker and microphone, does the V2+ have anything different in the software when compared to the V2? Like extra sport profiles, watch faces, etc. I currently have a V2 (unopened) thinking I may return for the V2+
From the looks of it the hardware seems to be identical, maybe slightly more accurate with heart rate & OX sensors. And The additional stereo speakers you get. It depends what you'll be using it for. The stereo speakers you may use once or twice every couple months, unless you truly enjoy speaking to friends and family through a watch and want to listen to music on your wrist. It's definitely a pro to have. But its always up to your own personal preference.
I don’t understand why they made the Venu 2 plus smaller ? Just stick to 45mm or give people two size options like with Venu 2. I hope Venu 3 will come in bigger size 45mm

FINALLY!!! I've been waiting for this. I have been hanging on to my Samsung Active 2 because I can answer calls via the watch. When I do activities, I've been wearing both the Samsung and my Garmin watch, now I can just wear one. This is perfect!
I owned the venu 2, interm of battery wise, it works well. Not much upgrade from venu 2 plus interm of battery capacity, for me battery is the crucial part for upgrade.
I've had this watch for a month, it only receives half of the messages....sometimes yes, for sometimees no...without any logic. The company said it can't be...and that's it
Thanks for the review, seems like a nice watch and finally one with mic/speaker, though ultimately it won't make me switch from my F6s Pro. Too many things like training effect missing... Btw, you should probably highlight Garmin's awesome workouts feature for strength training where you can pre-define complete workouts with the rest periods as well as sets and weights and save it as a plan on the watch. Completely eliminates the guessing the watch has to do, and coupled with the music feature also the neee to carry the phone with you 👍
The lack of set building on the Samsung is one of the big reasons I was leaning away from it. I love building my daily workouts and just sending it to my watch!
Just ordered this one. Was considering Fenix 6 but ultimately I dont think i'll use all of the Fenix features, plus enjoy the size, touchscreen, and smart watch features on the Venu 2 plus. It'll eliminate my need for my dated apple watch too. I do wish the venu would have some more running/training features though, even just to try out! Happy that it will at least partially provide decent features for skiing and golf.

I am an 82 year old man, so not into gyms, weight training, running etc. I just like playing with watches! I am about to read your comparison of the Venu 2+ and Apple watch 7, which may answer my question, but should I ditch my 6X Pro for the Venu 2+? Great Review as always. I have the originaç Venu2. I love the watch but this one has some pretty interesting updates. Nevertheless, does it solve 2 issues the original did not have comparing against other Garmin watches : 1. recovery time 2. Train Effect?
The training features are usually found on Garmin's Forerunner and Fenix lineup of watches. Unfortunately they don't include those features on their "smartwatch" lineup of watches. Would be cool though! Thanks!

Anyone considering the Venu... be aware aftermarket bands that actually work are basically non-existent. And even Garmin doesn't have many options in non-silicone.
Have you tried the phone calling and voice assistant on Android. I've tried all the settings Garmin recommends and still can't get these features to work. Wondering if there's something I'm missing, watch is faulty or if these features just don't work...
In My country of Sweden this watch costs 500$ us dollars and that's the cheapest price i could find. What's garmin thinking how can someone afford this watch every other smart watch out there is cheaper.

I'm sure it's a lot of work to put a video together. One suggestion that might help... you talk so fast it's difficult to understand you and stay with your thought process.

The original Venu 2 is still a great watch and for sports and fitness is nearly the same as this, but if you can utilize the speaker and microphone this could be worth a look. And hopefully you got a good deal on your Venu 2!

I know this was posted a year ago. No one has really gone into what can and can't be done through Google Assistant. Can I say into the Vennu 2, " Hey Google, take me to the nearest Starbucks by foot" and start walking and it will tell me where to turn? I really would think it could, but reviews make it sound like it can't. Which would surprise me because I can do this with my Shockz bluetooth headphones. Similar to this, have any apps in Garmin IQ been improved to do the above AND show the map on the screen? The ones I've read reviews on you need to open Google Maps on your phone first, put in where you want to go, and then it will work and show a map on the phone. Though, the reviews I've read of these apps weren't exactly glowing. Thanks for all your reviews!
Most wearables do this due to the vibration. The Apple Watch seems to be one of the better ones that can filter out that noise with Fitbit being on the other end of the scale being too sensitive. Garmin is about right in between.
hi Des, great video! just got my Venu 2 Plus yesterday. have an issue with phonecalls in the car on Android Auto.. when I received a phonecall while driving, I picked up the call using my car's controls, but the audio got routed to my watch instead. I couldn't switch it to my car speakers. anyone else face this issue? what's the fix? (other than manually turning off the watch's connection with the phone everytime I drive) Any help would be greatly appreciated! (I use a Pixel 6 Pro, and wired android auto)
The calorie difference 300 between 2 Garmin watch is weird. Why do you think the measurement was so off compared to Fenix and Strava when the distance was basically the same?
The calorie calculation on the Venu was based just off of heart rate where the Fenix and Strava figures you see were based off a cycling power meter which uses a different calculation.

Last time I used a watch was the polar V800. Does this allow for HBR training? Setting target HBR ranges and receive vibrations when over or under? I loved the HIIT part of it, does is vibrate when finishing rests and when reached the reps? I saw the Vivoactive 4 does show an animation of the exercise during the training, I guess this does as well?
Please Garmin let there be a watch in the future with Google OS and all Garmin Syn Features. My first Watch was an Fossil 5 for ~200 €. And still all Garmin watches does not reach these possible user interactions. I want to feel a Mobile Phone attached to the hand as i did with Fossil. I have the Fenix 6 and thinking about to buy the Venu 2 Plus to get near the feeling with Fossil but its a very expensive thought.
I literally just got a Venu 2 10 days ago 😭. I don’t think I can return it at this point. I like the display and look of the Plus as the bezel on the Venu 2 isn’t the best looking. I like the glossy bezel of the Plus and I miss the speaker from my Galaxy Watch. One thing I wish other manufacturers would do like Samsung is the upgrade features. Samsung is really the only manufacturer that offers trade in upgrades where Apple, Garmin, and others don’t.

This watch is great, but for some reason I can't get the voice assistant to use Google assistant on my Samsung Galaxy S10. I've set it GA as the default voice assistance app, but it keeps starting Bixby instead (which for me sucks as Bixby is not available in my language). I realize this is most likely an issue with my phone, not the watch, but still a bit annoying. I also had some issues with the Galaxy Buds earphones connected to the watch, the sound stutters a little every few minutes, but this may also be interference from the phone also trying to connect. I intend to do some more testing.
Wow there is finally a good contender to the Apple Watch!! Except im always disappointed in Garmin not adding open water swimming to any of their watches besides the super expensive versions. It’s fundamentally what’s holding me back from getting a garmin watch.
Literally boxed up my Venu 2 to return an hour before the announcement. Lack of speaker was the killer. I read that maps ate supposedly improved, is this so?
This 1 looks pretty slick , nice that the Okey google even has his own animation it looks so mutch more slick.The software looks very nice The amount of sports is also pretty slick, only Google has more with walking withsnowboots but they missing swimming. At least in the past! It's very concerning, let alone that you have no idea if it works with just a random watch witch isn't made for walking with snowboots 😂 This thing is slick as fuck!
Hello. I had a question. I also have this watch and when my phone rings (Android) I answer the call on my phone, but it switches it to my watch, sometimes the call will stay on my phone. Does this happen with you as well?
Would love to see a comparison video between a venu and a Fitbit versa or alike. I feel like people who either want a Samsung or apple watch are going to get either of those since they have the Samsung or apple phone. The question is what smartwatch do people get who aren't enclosed in those ecosystems?

Great video. I'm unsure if the Venu 2S (smaller one) will be too small for me or if I have to get the Plus or larger Venu 2. I have a slim wrist even though I'm a guy and don't want a big chunky statement device, but something I can wear under a smart shirt at work. Something I'm interested in is that the Quantified Scientist found that the sleep tracking of the Venu Plus was not as good as the Venu 2 on his sample data. I'm curious if the data results on the Venu 2S (smaller one) is as good as the Venu 2.

I think Garmin has always been better than AW at fitness. The only drawback was it not being very smart. This watch might close the gap

It’s manufacturing so that can happen from time to time, but glad you were able to exchange it!
I use mine for golf. But it can’t tell that I’m in a golf cart and gives me results as if I had walked such as levels, steps and distance traveled.

Honestly, the Garmin Venu 2 plus watch counts steps while I'm driving a car. Why does the sensor provide steps while I'm driving? Is there a solution?

No Aerrobic/Anaerobic effect???
For my garmin fenix 6 pro, Bluetooth connection isn't stable at all, using a huawei p30 pro, hopefully they will have a better Bluetooth connection.

I literally just got a Venu 2 10 days ago 😭. I don’t think I can return it at this point. I like the display and look of the Plus as the bezel on the Venu 2 isn’t the best looking. I like the glossy bezel of the Plus and I miss the speaker from my Galaxy Watch. One thing I wish other manufacturers would do like Samsung is the upgrade features. Samsung is really the only manufacturer that offers trade in upgrades where Apple, Garmin, and others don’t.

Bought one of these and sent it back. The battery was just too short compared to my old Fenix 3HR. Going to buy a Fenix 6X Pro.
Looks like a winner, Des. I am guessing it does not have training load type metrics, right? That I think is only in the Forerunner and Fenix line.

The whole point of me buying a Garmin was not bringing my bulky phone in a fanny pack while I run so I can get my distance.
This watch is great, but for some reason I can't get the voice assistant to use Google assistant on my Samsung Galaxy S10. I've set it GA as the default voice assistance app, but it keeps starting Bixby instead (which for me sucks as Bixby is not available in my language).
I realize this is most likely an issue with my phone, not the watch, but still a bit annoying. I also had some issues with the Galaxy Buds earphones connected to the watch, the sound stutters a little every few minutes, but this may also be interference from the phone also trying to connect. I intend to do some more testing.
Wow there is finally a good contender to the Apple Watch!! Except im always disappointed in Garmin not adding open water swimming to any of their watches besides the super expensive versions. It’s fundamentally what’s holding me back from getting a garmin watch.
The Instinct and Forerunner 255 and 265 all have open water swim.
Still no training voice prompts? That's quite a low blow. Do they want to sell Fenixes THAT way?
can the venu2 plus be used for HIIT/crossfit/hyrox training that includes indoor intervals followed by outdoor runs (gps tracking)?
Literally boxed up my Venu 2 to return an hour before the announcement. Lack of speaker was the killer.

This 1 looks pretty slick , nice that the Okey google even has his own animation it looks so mutch more slick.The software looks very nice
The amount of sports is also pretty slick, only Google has more with walking withsnowboots but they missing swimming. At least in the past! It's very concerning, let alone that you have no idea if it works with just a random watch witch isn't made for walking with snowboots 😂

Hello. I had a question. I also have this watch and when my phone rings (Android) I answer the call on my phone, but it switches it to my watch, sometimes the call will stay on my phone. Does this happen with you as well?

Would love to see a comparison video between a venu and a Fitbit versa or alike. I feel like people who either want a Samsung or apple watch are going to get either of those since they have the Samsung or apple phone. The question is what smartwatch do people get who aren't enclosed in those ecosystems?

Great video. I'm unsure if the Venu 2S (smaller one) will be too small for me or if I have to get the Plus or larger Venu 2. I have a slim wrist even though I'm a guy and don't want a big chunky statement device, but something I can wear under a smart shirt at work. Something I'm interested in is that the Quantified Scientist found that the sleep tracking of the Venu Plus was not as good as the Venu 2 on his sample data. I'm curious if the data results on the Venu 2S (smaller one) is as good as the Venu 2.
