I like to imagine the (then) CEO of Dominos is actually a die hard Hatsune Miku fanboy and lobbied really hard to get this cross-promotion greenlit hence, the reason he stared in the promotional video
That Dominoes ad is one of the best things I’ve seen in my entire life and I would’ve totally ordered at least Hatsune Miku special, just to know that I was making some poor pizza delivery guy have to drive around in one of those Miku-scooters.
This wasn't advertising specifically, but I remember that one thing that solidified just how big Miku had become was when she was on David Letterman that one year. That was pretty crazy
Well yeah, and there was probably the novelty factor too. Still though, the fact they went through with it at all considering Letterman could get anyone (most likely) really showed how much Miku had broke in to the west.
Betsuni Imagine being an old white guy who's been a late night host forever and being told a computer generated cartoon character is going to be one of your last musical guests.
She faces stiff competition. In the upper-left corner, we have the red hat plumber himself, Mario! On the right, we have the man, the legend, the one and only, Son Goku! Then we have Hello Kitty, Jotaro Kujo, ASIMO, some guy in pajamas, and some other people I don't really know.
Owl City, SEKAI NO OWARI, Squid Sisters, Off The Hook, Pikachu and some other Nintendo and SEGA characters, and now Vocaloid. Boy, the cast for the opening ceremony performance will be... interesting. What's next? Kyary Pamyu Pamyu!?
Maybe Miku being animated would make the shrine in Seoul weird but kpop fans (of popular groups) do those subway ads every year for members birthdays, debut anniversaries etc so it's actually just a bizarre daily occurrence at this point. Like they'll even line the departure and arrivals area of airports with the things if the group/fanbase is big enough. Funnily enough there's also, albeit one, screen with a smiling Jesus with blushed cheeks on it like 'Happy birthday Jesus' in a subway station there every year too.
As one of Miku's biggest fans, I'm actually kinda proud that Miku ended up getting all these advert deals. It feels like Miku has become a real, true celebrity, being approached to endorse various products, even with crossover with other celebs, hence Scarlett Johannson. And she's not even _real!_ Now that's impressive!
Can we talk about how messed up 11:08 is? Ed and Winry are making this massive show of how delicious the pizza is and what is Al doing? Not delivering the pizza. Not socializing. No, he's staring sadly at the pizza, wondering what it would taste like, missing the flavor of pizza and basically just food altogether as his brother basically rubs in his face the fact that he cannot and hasn't enjoyed the experience of eating in years.
I enjoyed the Vocaloid game I played, but I don't have that much of an opinion on Miku. That said, I salute the fine gentlemen (and possibly ladies) who payed for that shrine. That's some inspiring fanboyism I could only imagine aspiring to. Brings a tear to my eye. This video made my day.
When I was in Washington DC I seen a comic book store with Hatsune Miku face on the wall. Sadly that comic book store was closed and I was only visiting for a day

My favorite Miku commercial is when this weeb girl tries to learn how to sing and dance, so, she goes to this dance class, passing some buff guy dancing on the street, which is taught by Reol and 2 hipsters, and after failing to impress these 3 people, 1 of which eating an an entire stack of burgers while looking directly at the camera, then, she walks depressed through the rain, and watches a Miku cosplayer rip his wig and gloves off, then start breakdancing to the Rocketman remix of World’s End Dancehall, finishing with Brock from Pokémon’s pose, and after witnessing it, she gives him her hand, and starts to learn from him. Then powered by a Miku phone charm, she finally succeeds
