Brand new 6-core 12 thread Ryzen CPU on one of the oldest and the cheapest motherboards on sale. Precision Boost 2.0 Precision Boost Overdrive, manual all-core overclock, power delivery issues, memory settings, cinebench numbers. Pretty much everything you need to know about the new Zen 2 platform running on A320 chipset. That, if this thing works at all.

I use a 2700x on an a320 and people act like my pc is going to explode but my temps are way cooler than my old i7 and i dont run overclocked so it is perfectly fine. Thanks to you and tech yes city for being people to prove that stuff like this works if you actually know what you're doing.
How long you already use it?
What is you power supply brand?
How about memory RAM?
So its ok combine A320 + ryzen
5 3600 + rx 570 8gb ?
@@cleanfactory5561 I have an EVGA bronze 450w psu with 2666mhz hyperx fury ram and a gtx 1070 TI founders edition. I have used it since early december with zero issues so far.
@@ThatWhiteHanddo you know how to overclock a320 + ryzen 3600 ? Is it safe to overclock this motherboard ?
@@cleanfactory5561 it depends on who you buy from. Gigabyte gives a320 a bad name with their garbage motherboards. I use an MSI a320 pro board and it is a bit more money but it has better features like overclocking and wattage control. As for overclocking safety, like i said, if you have a cheap old 40 dollar board then dont do it at all. If you have a good one like an msi one you can stretch it a bit.

3rd gen processor on a 1st gen mobo wow you have to give amd credits for not being stingy as Intel would force you to buy new mobo for new processors each year lol id rather fiddle with the bios and stick with amd ryzen its so worth it for "budget" gaming
AMD Master Race.
There is a reason he had to flash the motherboard twice. Now it does not support the 1st gen anymore, as the bios memory is too small. You would have to flash it back again, before you could use gen 1 again. Still great feature, and we love AMD for it.
ReDnAx1991 it still supports 1st gen. I have the same motherboard on the latest bios and I have a ryzen 5 1400

thank u so much dude im about to upgrade to the 3600 on december and reddit/quora peeps making it sound like a shitty decision. u just made it easier lmao besides, i wont be overclocking. i just meeded extra cores for video editing because i currently have a 2400G
Haha I was just in your exact situation, works fine
hey guys, im at the same situation rn xd. the only thing im worried about is my psu(trash brand 400W). I just dont know if it would be enough for 1050Ti,2x8 overclocked rams and 3600 and a320m-k. I'm using r3 2200g and I haven't had a single problem about my psu. Got any ideas/tips for me🥺?
100% nothing wrong with the AMD (cooler master) pre applied thermal paste.
I ended up scraping the thermal paste off my old heat sink on my A10-5800k and never applied more, and it seems the same. I think the best thing people can do to reduce heat is undervolt. It's free. This guy seems to just really enjoy putting on thermal paste.
Especially since all he did with the first application was try to boot, fail, then immediately remove the cooler and replace the CPU.
Agree, it may do 0.1% temperature difference
rockin the 3700x with this board
It really work?!!!If it does then I'm installing Ryzen 5 3600XT on my a320m then.
@@voidgamingstudios8955 Yes. Just make sure the BIOS is updated to support zen 2.

Gotta hand it to amd, letting you use a board from 2 gens ago with their fancy new cpus. Intel make new sockets like its vogue. I will say if you dont plan to overclock, buy the 3600 non x variant and you're golden with this board
100 percent agree!
this comment is here for a year now and this is what im definitely doing
In australia theres no point of buying a a320 coz the b450 ds3 is only $9 more
after looking at the updates like 41 is the highest you can go an still keep the pci 16 gen 4 if you update pass that its disabled
Very informative, thank you, got this MB being delivered in a couple of days...cheers :)
amazing stuff man!!! congrats for all that info!!! Yes sir!!! nice editing man!!!
Thanks buddy!
I have that one with a normal 3600, 16 GB(3200) and an RX590, it runs smoothly even if i went budget on the motherboard :3
Did u have to oc your ram to 3200mhz or is it manual just wondering don't know tok much abt clock speeds
what bios firmware did you use in this motherboard?
my setup was r5 3600 with rtx 2060 with this board and a 16 gb ram 3200mhz its so laggy and stuttering in games what should i buy to get it smoother??
V2 of this board now uses a B350 chipset, my 3500x is @ 4.2 all cores 1.15v and max temp is around 73-75C when I tested by mining RandomXMonero with a GTX 1070 mining KAWPOW inside a cheap $15 micro-atx case.
Thanks for going through the pain to show us what can be done with the A320. A young friend of mine is hoping to save some $$ on an ultra budget build and glad to know this is possible. I think he's up for the hassle, as a technical challenge.
If you ever get a chance, it would be awesome if a performance measure of PCI-e Gen 4.0 in the A320 vs a B550 could be taken, that would be awesome. There aren't any GPUs that take full advantage of this, so I suppose it would have to be some kind of PCI-e x16 to M.2 adapter?
Keep these going mate, not many people work in this space.
Kenneth, thank you for the support! I'm glad I was at any help. I love your idea. I'm gonna work on it. Cheers!
I’m actually having fun watching your videos, really nice! And also helpful...
Thanks Tomás! Love your profile picture. C7 is dope.
What about the V2 that has B350 chipset? Thank you for the video, I hope you can help me.
I leave you here the question I posted in a forum:
Hello. So my question is: how safe would it be to do an slight OC (3,9-4,0 Ghz maybe?)
to a Ryzen 7 2700 on an A320M-S2H V2 that has a B350 chipset? I'd use the stock heatsink, but I might get one if necessary.
If it's not safe at all, what is the cheapest motherboard that could support 2700 OC properly? I was thinking about the MSI B450 Gaming Plus MAX (+-80€ in Spain).
PSU: Corsair TX750M Gold Plus
Should be fine bro. Even 4,1. Just don’t go crazy with voltage. If boot loop reset the bios.
I wonder if Ryzen 5 3600XT will work on this motherboard as well
Yeah, could you do this board with R5 3600XT ?
I could not escape the feeling that you are Russian by origin :D
wow!!! i have a Gigabyte GA-A320M-S2H, so let's do it
I recently purchased an MSI A320M-A Pro Max for $55 off Amazon. Looking forward to seeing how it pairs with the 3300X.
can you plz tell me does it work?
i want to use 3100 on it
Lol I am saving my money to buy this mobo with ryzen 3500
i'm wanting to get 3300x for my son and thinking.. cheap a320m or b450m? i would rather get a320m as you cannot overclock the 3300x much ... but wonder if it will throttle it? it's rated 65w but tests show it does use more energy than the 3100..
Also worried the mobo wont support the cpu and seeing which can update bios without a cpu in!
just got my a320 motherboad today with my 3300x it got the Bios updated by the seller

@@GeorgeTech yes, I can't like your video.
i have this exact motherboard paired with a ryzen 5 2600 for like more than a year and I never had a single problem. My temps don't go over 55 with the stock cooler.
Hey bro. What about the VRM temperatures?
Recently I slapped ryzen 5 5600x on my a320 and it runs so well its unbelievable.
Grabbed one of these motherboards for cheap from someone with the original intention of tossing in a 2200g I had to sell off. However, between this video and the Tech Yes City video, going to swap my 3600 into it instead. I needed to upgrade my living room PC from an ITX to a bigger case anyway for my reference 6700xt. So will put the 320 in that case with the 3600 and move my B350 ITX motherboard to an inwin chopin case I have to redo my 2200g only build and sell that off I guess. Not going to OC it anyway so as long as it hits its usual boost clocks I'm fine, plus will trying out the PCIE 4 with the 6700xt.
Yeah you have one problem though . Does that motherboard even support the 3000 x without a bios update. Does that motherboard support flash flashing without a CPU.
I have the A320m-S2H motherboard, I want to get the ryzen 5 5500. Wil it work with a bios update?
These type of mother board are so usual in builds in Mexico , people buy good components but buys a A320 mother board because it really works xD , a lot of pre build pc that website sell in Mexico have a A320 because it's cheaper and it works fine with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a Rx570
It's almost as if you are Mike Mangini's son, my friend!
Great video! 🔥
Hahaha I had no idea! We do look alike. Crazy.
@@GeorgeTech hahahaha totally! 😂
With me, this misconception of a mobo project died in less than a year, with even a less demanding CPU: Ryzen 5 2400G with 8G RAM @2400mhz and a GTX 770, (Corsair 500VS PSU). It seems Gigabyte can't make good quality boards at entry level.
It was likely an exception. I build systems for sale and have been using A320Ms regularly (including Gigabytes, even Biostar). I don't sell a lot but still, for about 3 years none have contacted me within a year that their computers died. Anyway if it's within a year then you're covered by warranty so it ain't that bad.
Got this board working with 1600 AF, gotta say i'd happily pay 20-40$ more now because this board has only 1 4-pin fan hub for the case and 1 for cpu so if you want a push pull system you need a fan splitter but oh wait those are only 4 pin Y cables with 3 pins on the other end meaning you need two 4 pin fans to be able to set any kind of fan curve so your ears dont bleed and most cases come with 3-pin fans, even high end cases. I've tried setting up a PWM fan controller and connecting 4 3-pin fans to it, but once i exit the bios the fan curve just goes back to DC from PWM and i'm unable to change it because the support for this mobo is garbage. Anywho, go for b450 pro-4f, or tuf pro gaming, it's worth it.
With the bios update can you use ryzen 5 3400G with vega 11 grapics with Ga-A320m-sh?
Thank you I needed this!
Ty for this, I succeed😭
Question do you recommend downloading my bios first or when installing the cpu?
Sorry man. Can you rephrase it?
@@GeorgeTech should I update my bios before putting in the new cpu or when your done installing the cpu
Oh I see… you can’t update your bios without CPU installed on some boards. If new cpu doesn’t boot you would need ryzen 1000 or 2000 to update. If it boots - update to the latest bios.
Here in Chile South america I think I´m going right now for a a320 mobo because a320m from gigabyte, msi and asus are 60-75 USD aprox. but the cheapest b450 any brand are around 130-180 USD. And I´ll use a ryzen 5 2600.
Should I wait for a 520 aur by the Asus EX a320 gaming motherboard plus ryzen 3 3300 X +1650 super
Hey!
My current components are R3 3300x (mattis cpu), GTX 1650 super, Ram 3200Mhz. I bought this mobo but its 2000 series ready. Could a bios upgrade would do the trick? Can you please do a video or just suggest in comment that it would work fine.
As usual, your videos are both funny and informational. Thank You.
Thanks buddy! BIOS will do the trick. 3600 and 3300x are the same generation so basically everything that happens on the video should apply to you. The only thing that you are missing is 2000 or 1000 series CPU to update the bios with. On the side note, if you haven't tested the board yet - it might have an updated bios out of the box. In this case, you don't need an older CPU to upgrade.
I'm running a A320M-HDV with a Ryzen 2200g with 8Gb 3000 RAM. Runs the kids games just fine.
Can you do ryzen 5 3600 with the A320m-s2h V2? The v2 has a b350 chipset
Marvin Aov yes you can. It’s only the 3600x that isn’t supported
@@luigifromthemushroomkingdo3150 What do you mean the 3600X isn't supported?
1. the 3600X is on the support list for that motherboard
2. did you even watch this video? The V1 version of the board obviously works with the 3600X, so why would V2 not work with it?

I find it interesting that the A320-S2H V2 actually has a B350 chipset.
Yeah, just for about 56$
Yeah I've got that board, planning to get some aftermarket vrm heatsinks from alphacool realsoon and some more case fans to see if I can push my 2600 to 4/4.1ghz
I have a similar setup R5 3600 + Gigabyte A320 S2H. But my proccessor is never hitting the 4.2 ghz mark even on any single core in any benchmark. On 100% load , I am getting 3895 mhz on all cores, while the temerature shoots upto 90 degrees. Is the stock cooler likely culprit here, or should I get my chip replaced?
It could be precision boost 2 related. Your temps and VRM setup are very important. ZEN 2 on A320 is Gigabyte experiment and not recommended by AMD. Again, power delivery... Try to remount the cooler and change the fan curve. 90C is usable yet very high...
@@GeorgeTech Thanks, I have already tried reseating the cooler & applying better thermal compound to no help. Though am pretty happy with the performance I am getting but what bugs me is that I can't get the max advertised speed & also the full load temperature is just too much. DerBaur has a video ua-cam.com/video/DgSoZAdk_E8/v-deo.html which shows that almost 50 % of the users (Ryzen 3600) are not hitting the max advertised speed & that too on X570 with better VRMs than mine. Really waiting for a bios update that can atleast cure out the thermal issues.
Very good video. Thank you. I've checked his results before replying. You and I are on the same track. Haha Hopefully, you'll get it resolved soon. AIO could also be a good option. They are a bit pricey though... Keep me posted.

I already updated my bios to F50 and am planning on getting the R5 3600 since it's a 65 watt CPU. I'm excited!
and 5 years later, here we are where this works perfectly fine. lmao
Some people are having problems updating bios on gigabyte low end mobos. Apparently the bios versions are mixed up on gigabyte's website.
Just go in order. You'll be alright.
great video man. but i dont understand, how the bios show gen4 before you plug the rx5700. is it because of new bios ? can you make other video to more about this . this is interesting more than plugging the ryzen 3600x itself
Thanks! gen4 is a zen 2 feature and yes, support for it on older motherboards comes from BIOS image. CPU I/O die provides x16 lanes to PCI-e (x8/x8) as well as x4 to NVMe and x4 to the chipset (chipset on itself runs gen3). If gen4 allowed by the manufacturer and activated you should get some improvements in bandwidth. Let me know if I need to go more into details. It's quite incredible...
@@GeorgeTech so its just simply bios update then? hmm.. can you make video about pcie gen4 on this board and compare it speed to x570 gen4 and see what came up.. im sooo curious :) i bet people do
Haha yes, I have something similar in the works. I'll make sure to touch on it. Thanks for the tip!
Hello I think I ran into a dead end and was hoping you can help with a solution since you said that hdmi, DVI, and VGA are made for APU’s and it won’t support my APU if I update the bios? Idk if I misunderstood or if I can still update the bios so that I can use the Ryzen 5 2600?

Hello bro i dont speak london but i have question to you amd ryzen 5 1600 af + msi a320 m pro = work ? I need bios update ?
Hey brother. 1600 af was released in October 11th 2019. If msi a320 m left the factory after that date you should be good. If the board left the factory before that date there's a very small chance you would need bios update (1600 af is basically 2600). So in conclusion 1600 af + a320 = 99 percent chance it works.

3600 is much better for gaming right now. When new consoles come out consider upgrading to 8 core.
will ryzen 5 3600 and a320m mobo (without overclock) last for at least 2 years of use? because i live in a third world country and its hard to get cash here so i need at least 2 years to save up for a decent pc :((
Good VRM is very important. I have a video coming next week. Stick around.
2600x a320 s2h 2400mhz ram very tight budget. I could have went for cheaper 2600 and get higher speed ram but wasnt sure if i get any benefits on gaming with faster ram over faster cpu. b450 is out of the picture since price is more than double for a decent one.
In your case I'd say you would really benefit from RAM instead of slightly higher clocks.
Just Overclocked my ram on this same motherboard to 3200mhz with cl16 timings stable no crashes i use Crucial Balistix 2400mhz kit 16gb dual channel 1.3v. My benchmark scores went up a lot. Saved little bit of money without buying faster speed ram.
Really liked your video you are so funny. so basically we cannot OC after the boost clock? or we cannot even use boost at all??

I quite don't understand why you get a bluescreen. Is it because you overclocked the CPU?
Could be multiplier or memory or infinity fabric. In any case, yes it is overclocking related. Without modifications the CPU works and stable.

2:45 since updating bios stops the support for HDMI, DVI and VGA. Does that mean it's a no go for Ryzen 5 3400g ?
Unfortunately no go... unless you run GPU to output
@@GeorgeTech ahh.. thanks for the heads up and for the video. Maybe I'll go for the asrock a320m hdv or a cheap b450m. Planning a extreme budget build for my nephew.
Your electrostatic security protection measures are stunning... 🤣
hi! can you answer please - this motherboard can start power without CPU? I m torn On an no any signal, no cooler work any more...
This one needs cpu socketed to start
Thanks you for the infomation
Is there any heating issue on that motherboard sir ?
I am sad that you never did the mentioned 3600 vs 2600 video
Hey man, do you know if i can use a m.2 970 evo 1TB on this motherboard? I have a 1660ti and r5 3600 cpu installed. Also i already have a samsung 860 500gb and samsung 840 240gb installed. I really want to install a m.2 SSD 1TB but i really dont know if i can do this while also have 2 normal ssd installed. I hooe you can help me
Yes! you good to go my man
nice video! may i ask a question? how was the vrm temp? thanks
Thank you! VRM temps were within spec during testing. However, I do see some potential problems with prolong AVX loads and overclock applied.
Hey!
I’m kinda new to pc building and I was wondering if these are good specs, I’m planning to get a Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1660 Super, 16gb ram 3000mhz, 512gb ssd and a A320 S2H, Will I be able to overclock it?
Would be very nice! Thanks!
CPU would have trouble overclocking on this board as you can see from the video. Everything else looks good. I would get more storage though. Call of Duty is over 200 gigs now... So with OS you looking at 240 gigs of available storage for a couple more games.
George Tech YT Alrighty! Thanks for the fast response! :D
Theres a Version 2 of this A320 mother board that allows overclocking.
Bro , will a msi B350M gaming pro mobo works with a R5 3600 ? including a rtx 2060 , will be any problems or it should be fine , thanks :)
You should be good my man. Make sure B350's BIOS is updated.
would that motherboard support a ryzen 9 3900x
100+ degrees on VRM under full load. If you stream and play games or video encoding get a board with a heatsink. Typically b450 or b550.
@@GeorgeTech oh alright
Great video. From someone upgrading from Intel this is useless for me as I don't have lower ryzen 5 to flash bios.
You can loan Athlon for free from AMD to update
@@GeorgeTech Thanks for the reply. I read that, however I am retired here in the Philippines, will they send here? I did find good deal, 99$ on a MSI b450 on amazon, I figured I go with that.
I'm sure they have a representation of a sort in Philippines. Give it a shot. B450 came out with the Zen+ RYZEN 2000 so we're not guaranteed to have RYZEN 3000 support out of the box unfortunately...
@@GeorgeTech I dunno I might just go with MSI A PRO MAX 99$. I like the fact I can upgrade bios without cpu or GPU. I have read reviews on other Gigabyte mobos and people saying some come with f40 bios where others don't and have to wait weeks for kit to come. If I spend this kind of money I want to build and be up and running after I get parts not have to wait. Thanks again for the video your replies and comments. I look forwarded to your other videos.
Should I wait for A520? OR buy *asus ex-a320 gaming* + *3300x* + *1650 super*
A520 should be released in September. It's gonna cost more. If you can't wait and don't wanna spend extra get a320
@@GeorgeTech sir will the prices of A320 go down? After false of a520?? Also, will A520 support 4th Gen ryzen?
I have a ryzen 5 3600 and a gigabyte a320 s2h motherboard is that ok? And is it compatible with palit gtx 1660 super? Pls respond and i dont oc my computer is it ok?
It's fine with an updated bios.
Really clarifying video, bro. I just bought a 3600x and I'll use it on a a320 mobo, but I don't plain to overclock it. Just wanted the little jump from 3.6ghz to 3.8. Will it be fine?
You should be fine my man. Upgrading from 2600x?
@@GeorgeTech Nah, upgrading the whole rig. From i7 3770 8GB RAM GTX 970 to R5 3600x 16GB RAM RTX 2070S 8GB. Was a bit scared when I saw I kinda messed up choosing the mobo, but apparently it's ok. Thank you for such specific video! Couldn't find another one on YT.
@@Mr_Chocolate_ how is your pc running. I am building a rig with same specs
@@bossoskin2265 Hello. How is the assembly? works well?
