The tribe tnroughout history has used controlled opposition to control the narrative. They culturally allowed/created the rock genre and also opposed it.
The teachers in that video look exactly like the swimsuit portion of the Miss America pageant but nobody was complaining about that. Van Halen’s video (directed by David Lee Roth) shows exactly how boys of that age were already viewing their teachers that they had crushes on. I should know, I was 11 in 1984 and had a huge crush on my teacher. This was the most relatable video to me when it came out.

One of the many f unmy things about this is that, if they had waited a couple years, Van Halen would no longer have been a "threat" to our fragile minds and "menace to society." After this album, Hagar joined the band and they started writing a bunch of sappy love songs and their videos were nothing like this.
With all due respect POUNDCAKE and FINISH WHAT YA STARTED videos were extremely naughty....In fact the former was the director getting in loads of PLAYBOY Channel chicks into the footage.

It's funny, the PMRC was mostly formed by Reagan-era Republicans like Susan Baker, wife of Treasury Secretary James Baker, Pam Howar, wife of Washington realtor Raymond Howar; and Sally Nevius, wife of former Washington City Council Chairman John Nevius and funded by Reagan supporters Mike Love of The Beach Boys and the owner Coors beer, but since Tipper Gore was the young and pretty one, they used her as a hood ornament. She was what would've been called a conservative Democrat back then due to her Christian ideals.
No one should've gotten more hate for trying to censor music than Mike Love, but Tipper was the easiest target.
Other politicians involed were Flordia Sen Paula Hawkins(Rep), Nancy Thurmond wife off South Carolina Sen. Strom Thurmond(Rep), South Carolina Sen Fritz Hollings(Dem) whose Wiki page also calls him a conservative Democrat, and Washington Sen. Slade Gorton(Rep)
Tipper had the least amount of power but the highest profile during all of it. I'm no fan of the Gores but the PMRC was a conservative Christian organization and not a bipartisan political one. Politics weren't as divided then and it wasn't until a few years later when the Gores could be described as liberals. All of those Southern Democrat politicians who voted with Reagan for tax cuts, increases in military spending, and deregulation were called "boll weevils" like Larry McDonald(Dem) of the Georgia House of Representatives, who was a leader in the John Birch Society. Joe Lieberman, Eugene McCarthy, and Richard Lamm were also Dems who took up conservative values in order to try and get votes.
Boll Weevils Phil Gramm and Richard Shelby eventually switched over the Republican party.
Currently, West Virginia Sen Joe Manchin(Dem) is the last remaining Boll Weevil.

To be serious, I think that bringing youngsters into the video behaving like lecherous adults was a bit creepy to be honest but the 'PICASSO BROTHERS' (DLR and Pete Angelus) liked to shock with their video content . And the album cover....On the 1984 album cover they had a BABY smoking a Cigarette (which I did find rather upsetting when I first saw it) ....I remember on the 'Pretty Woman' video MTV banned it because of Midgets sexually harassing a tied up female impersonator....Although there were some funny bits in it (the best for me being the idea of TARZAN wearing SUNGLASSES...lol) Mind you there were rock videos other than VH which were far worse though ..
