Just like Shenmue and Shenmue II, the quest in Shenmue III is time limited and if you take too long then it's over for Ryo. You have until the end of July 31st. You'll also get a warning after going to sleep on June 30th, wich even comes with a notebook entry.
Only got this so early after release thanks to the use of the debug menu, wich allows you to change the date.
Visually probably the most striking scene in the entire game. Looks amazing. It's almost wasted, considering very few actually get to see it.
And to think, in all three games, to get this ending, you have to either be insanely incompetent, or extremely patient and do it on purpose.
Wow of all the 3 games, this bad ending gave me the most chills.
Could they not have found a new voice actor for Lan Di that sounded like the old voice actor?
That does not sound like he sounded like in Shenmue 1 and 2 at all.

This is a different voice actor.
Paul Lucas was Lan Di's english voice in I and II he did a great job and he was down to retake his role as Lan Di in III but Yu and his Team did not bother to call him same with Eric Kelso.
This new voice actor does both Lan Di's English and JP voices, maybe they hired this new guy just to save money...
Yeah this new guy sucks. Voice doesn't go with the face at all.
It suck they were unable to get the original voice actor it had more intimidation

Thanks man, I'm taking my sweet time with the game and was kinda wondering today if Shenmue 3 also had the same bad endings of the 1st games; now I know thanks to you that July 31st is game over.

Despite Lan Di going after the mirrors for his own monetary gain, he mentioned taking Shenhua's power for the Chi You men in the previous shenmue game.
So glad I opted for Japanese when replaying from shen1...
So what I've got from all 3 endings, Lan Di has been tracking Ryo down like the Nemesis while hes shopping and collecting toys at the arcades.
When you really think of it, its kinda scary: the guy you been traveling around to kill is doing the same thing as you.
Part 2 was probably the most creepy.
Same here was thinking the same thing especially cause it was just out of silence.
...Well.. it was at least nice of him to not kill Sha Hua
The words "Game Over" may as well be replaced with "Lan Di"
You have to be really really bad or waste a lot of time to see this.
I’m taking my time, no rushing, currently on the first days of may in Niaowu and almost finishing the main story with all subquest and more than 600 fish catches.

It doesn't really exist to punish you so much as provide an excuse for why the player can't sit around buying gachapon for the next 30 in-game years
I saw it yesterday and that made me nervous about how ryo died and lan di walked away and i had 3 days to beat the story but failed
you need landi's orig voice over actor to make that work. it was recorded as a game patch by shenmue dojo
This game is bad ass! Wish we could've seen this scene though. Only stumbled across it by accident. It's too good considering very few will see it
I'm taking my time but once I complete it I'll play again for the bad ending!
I assumed Shenmue III would've had a bad ending. But like Shenmue II, it doesn't give the sense like it could've been a canon ending like the Bad Ending in the first Shenmue, as terrible as it was. The black background gives the sense that it was all a lucid dream and that Lan Di never really encounters Ryo at all. After all, he falls into the depths of nothingness... It just doesn't have the real feeling as the first one did where you actually see him struck in the dojo... By the same technique.
Damn, Lan Di... Do you have any other moves aside from that same double-palm technique? I feel like if everyone knew it was the only move in your arsenal, there'd never be a Bad Ending for anyone.
Lan Dis neuer englischer Synchronsprecher ist sowas von unpassend besetzt, unfassbar. Absolut unterirdisch in dieser Rolle und so bedrohlich wie zwei Scheiben Knäckebrot.

I do wish the Shenmue games were harder... not the fighting, god no not the fighting. The timely aspects of them. I played through the first in a week. In game time. For a new run i managed to hang on till Christmas, and i thought i've done everything to bloat the time. And then i learn that the deadline is April 15?!.. Hooooooww...

If you search for shenmue dojo, they uploaded the entire niaowu soundtrack (like a 5 hour video) and it's the second last track in it. Think they also put it up for download on their website.
This looks more like a nightmare Ryo is having.

wow, july 31 is too soon! collecting all the skill books in that time frame seems unrealistic, considering it takes days sometimes to get a rare item at a gambling/game stand. is there a new game plus for those attempting 100% complete game?
yes theres new game+ and everything carries over except key items

So basically only 3 months and 11 days.
Shenmue 3 got screwed over by fans who had been waiting for this nearly 20 years after Shenmue 2 came out that was a Pre 9/11 game. But look happened to TLOU II, it was screwed over by a golf club...

Like it or not, but it sucks we didn’t get post free roam after you beat the game!
you do get to start back from either niaowu or bailu when loading a completed save file
vinny460 yeah but still, you have to go through the story again, instead of having a non story free roam with side quests
@@acebobbomb yea ik tbh doesn't take long to open up the areas that are blocked by the story but once you do that you can free roam
vinny460 you have a point there, and the game is not that long either, but it’d be nice to have.
The overall message of the Shenmue series is that you can't stop evil from getting what it wants, you can only delay it.

Man... Corey did a excellent scream when Ryo gets cut with Yuan's chainsaw, but this scream when Lan Di kills him is really half ass! Lol, Matsukaze-san's scream was amazing!

I'm.a huge shenmue fan since 2008.21 years old and maybe young, but loveshenmue so much. I was wondering.if you get the bad ending, game over, does it say to save the game and you can start over start over new game plus?
No, it doesn’t save the bad ending. BUT just don’t save at the end of the last day. Otherwise, the file will no longer become playable and you will have to make a new save file from scratch.

So basically you either give the Phoenix mirror to Niao Sun in the normal ending or surrender it to Lan Di in this bad ending....
No you get the bad ending if you don’t finish the game by a certain date within the game. The storyline doesn’t affect the bad ending
