The stock snorkel is probably not slowing anything down. This is 50cc remember. the larger intake is probably more important on the GY6 150cc+ swap. There is actually a trick to insert a strip of aluminum can across the opening of the snorkel before putting the filter on, to restrict air flow and prevent you from having to re-jet. So I doubt the stock snorkel is being all that much of a detriment and is likely helping. Once you get into replacing the exhaust with performance exhaust, and changing out CDI, variator, and rollers, then you will need to re-jet and might want more airflow. This is however a good idea to save on extra filters, and route the hoses how they were originally intended to be ran. The lower breather he has on there is attached to the Pair valve which can just be plugged, or get a block plate and cover it up.
The snorkel is a slight bit bigger than the factory one. As far as the filter goes I used a small cone similar to what an intake on a car looks like. It looks to be around the same size as most of the ones I see that look like it. I plugged the hole that sucks air and has that loud sound and I have the one blowing air out left open. Now the breather hose you mentioned in the video where you think doesn't give it much of anything I have a small breather filter on. Now the other one that is to the back right of the seat if your standing behind the ruck I have going to that main intake tube so it's not just open. I tried taking that breather line I mentioned a min ago and had that hooked up to the intake too with no difference. I also tried cutting off some airflow from the main intake filter to see if it was getting too much and still made no difference. That is what I can tell you I've done so far. Im having problems with getting my 15 ruck to run right the way the ebay kit I got. I hooked it up like it said and realized I was getting too much air cuz it would bog out when you would give it throttle. I just hooked mine up the exact same way you did in this video and now it won't run at all. Is there something I'm not doing right? The only difference is I have a stock exhaust still because I'm waiting for my big gun evo exhaust to come. Could that be why it runs like shit because At this point I'm just sick and don't know what to do with the thing.
Sounds like you have a vaccume leak because if you give it gas and it dies then it could be a hose not connected. How much bigger is the eBay snorkel compared to the stock one because i ran the stock one, then what filter are you using, the I used is a 2stage filter and the helps a lot compared to a regular filter. I would just follow al the hoses and hook them up where they go. Hope this helps in some way.
right now its slow 37mph with all original parts but i have 3550 miles. my next install will be the ncy unlimited cdi and poloni variator kit and hopfully get 50mph out of it.
chris contreras hey did u do that unlimited cdi an poloni variater? My ruckus does 37 an I'm looking to make it faster with out really modifying the engine. Wondering if what u did made it faster an where to order the parts for that. I'm also going to get a lower seat an handle bars for less wind resistance.

i havent rejet the carb since iv'e done the mod and its been running great. i wouldent mess with the carb, but i would change the C.D.I. that way you can go 45-50mph

I need help . there are hoses above the muffler coming from a small unit / hoses go into air box, what did you do with them ?

I never adjusted the carburator and I drove it for about 1500 miles like that . no issues .

Kregalo13 alll the small filters act as breathers . they all ran to the stock air fillter box, so i just followed them and put breather filters.

He didn’t. Everyone else who buys a whole intake kit and runs a quality performance exhaust does re-jet it. More air flow requires more fuel.
